Technically in the U.S. there is. But I believe it is 13. Unfortunately there is the other problem of having no one around you who you can talk to/relate to about your experiences (typically but not exclusively queer experiences).
At the very least there should be filters that make it impossible for minors and adults to interact or even find each other on social media. Basically, two sides that can’t interact or at the very least is heavily restricted in doing so. Actually functioning support with rules for everyone instead of the “rules for thee but not for me” bs that most sites/apps have now would also be nice.
@@justapanpirate Ehhhh I'm going to actually disagree with that. I see your concerns but sometimes minors have questions that the adults in their life can't answer. For example Mama Doctor Jones is a wonderful RUclipsr and a licensed gynecologist. She answers questions and explains things in a way that's scientific and puts people at ease.
@@vandiemonlost Nah, to be honest it’s mostly that I don’t want to see the drama and bullshit of teenagers and would prefer it if there were some sort of 18+ only option. Don’t really see how it’s Big Brother though? Then again, it’s possible my memory on the definition of it is blurry.
LMAO. My daughter and I were trying to come up with different "Don't Dead Open Inside" ways to read it. Our favorite was "Welcome to the city of NO, YOU SUCK Hope".
In regards to this taking place in Germany and the "Silent Hill Phenomenon" being a weak connection - supposedly they're wanting to redefine what Silent Hill is, in that it is no longer a literal physical location but is instead an entity that exists in/as another realm. From what I found online, they want Silent Hill to be able to torment people all over the world, tracking them down and luring them in through the fog, and then feeding off of their fear and suffering. Essentially, this Silent Hill entity will be able to target those who are struggling mentally/emotionally and reveal the fog to them and transport them to the Silent Hill realm where the monsters can torment them. This new definition will be used to explain how Silent Hill F takes place in Japan and this game in Germany. I can kinda see it connecting to the original games, e.g. when you hear the siren and are "transported" to Silent Hill and that's where the monsters are, but it does seem a somewhat vague concept.
The dev teams have also become so tired of having to reiterate that "Silent Hill" the game series isn't in America. The core idea was always about how we as humans just torment and put ourselves through hell, and a special 'something' in the games allowed our own demons to become manifest. It's a good presentation shift!
I feel like it makes sense. Silent hill was always more about the twisted version *of* silent hill. Not silent hill itself as a destination. More so what it becomes in the games. So the fact they are making it more of an entity now makes much more sense to me.
@@ferisera Yeah, Silent Hill always seemed (and was intended to be) more than just a place, so I do like how they're starting to expand on that and I'm excited to see where they go from here!
I think they tried to lay that idea in peoples head with homecoming. The supernatural spreading to neighbouring towns. I love that idea. Seeing as Silent Hill F seems to be in Japan. With it's rural setting. Almost like Silent hill,Forbidden Siren and Fatal Frame baked into one.Which I love. About this one Silent Hill Short message I liked it,reminded me somewhat of Shattered Memories whereas the experience and atmosphere was the deal and also used chase scenes rather than combat. Silent Hill 1 and 3 will always be my personal favourites but I love to see what these new games take us.
@@henrikmygren It's definitely a concept that they've hinted at before, as you said in Homecoming, and it seems like they're trying to keep that more at the forefront of the storytelling. Hopefully they continue to build on the idea and give it extra depth in the future.
Honestly, the information they give out on social media and anxiety is pretty accurate. There have been several studies on how it's affected us, even beyond social anxiety, depression, body dysmorphia, etc. It affects our attention spans too and our ability to be creative when you only consume content. It's crazy.
Yeah. There are so so many studies on it, but it's so easily accessed that trying to cut their access to it now would only cause more harm than good. Something we need to focus on is teaching the youth the emotional skills needed to not let what others think of you, getting enough likes, fomo, etc dictate and have power over your life, choices, feelings, actions, etc. But that's also easier said than done when you're the generation who also didn't have it easy whatsoever but was already in, or almost in, high school when the initial social sites and programs (AIM, MySpace, etc) came into existence and popularity.
@@hmspretenderIt seems like stranger danger isn’t widely taught either. I remember the early 00’s when you were constantly bombarded with “never tell anyone anything, no one can be trusted and will kidnap you”. I’d bet money that a lot of parents aren’t even aware of things like parental filters.
@hmspretender I've never seen this actually, that cutting it back would cause more harm. I guess in the short term that's likely, but not in the longterm. Kids really shouldn't have access to certain technology and sites from 4 on up, or only he sat to consume media and never taught. Nor should we have 13 year Olds on social media. A little fomo is better than having next to no attention span, no creative thinking skills, and poorer social skills. But to each their own I guess. It's beyond just teaching kids how to use technology and the internet safely. Parents need to be parents again, and it should be regulated for younger generations of kids, so they don't grow up into something like this by default.
@hmspretender though I agree teaching emotiona skills would definitely help. Issue is now you have several kids who can't even focus on that. It's beyond just the emotional issue.
21:31 literally what I did - dropped out of college 2x and now have 6 months left in cosmetology school because studying was def not my thing , there really is something out there for everyone so don’t feel discouraged if you feel like a school setting isn’t for you!
ayyy, i’m doing basically the same! i got so burnt out (especially with college during covid) and trade schools were never presented as an option until i started looking. there’s SO MANY certificates/licenses for all sorts of stuff!
People really shouldn’t rule out trades and other practical certifications, especially since getting a degree doesn’t really grant anything in terms of jobs or future these day! Said as someone who took forever to get a doctorate only to be unemployed or on short-term contracts 😂
It took too many years for me to be diagnosed with ADHD so now I understand why I have so much trouble studying. Definitely something for everyone and sometimes you have to find what works for you
I'm a 14 year old that has grown up with social media/Covid. Personally, I don't have tiktok or instagram or snapchat, but most of my friends do. I think our generation is forced to grow up too fast. We can't have that awkward stage; I remember being ten and cringing at my nine year old self for being too childish. I think girls my age feel alot of pressure from the other girls around them, we really don't want to be the one to stick out and so we wear clothes and do things that deep down we feel ashamed of. Our schools are very aware of this, and we get talks very reguarly on our social footprint and pedophiles. However, even though most people are sensible with social media, mental health has become a huge problem. When I was 11, I started self harming and was even suicidal. I remember looking in the mirror and thinking about how ugly I was, how I dressed too childishly, the things I said. I know many, many other 14 year olds who have severe mental health issues, and it pains me becuase they act as if its not a big deal. Truly, I wish that I was given that awkward stage, that time to figure myself out, rather than feeling like I had to grow up in an instant. I worry girls my age weren't allowed to have that time at that it really is affecting thier mental health. Love the vid Gab!
As the parent of a nine year old girl( former 14yr old myself )I sympathize with you so much. My daughter is so quirky and silly right now, but to know in just 5 short years she'll be battling the same social issues and mental health challenges that are unfairly placed on children by social media terrifies me. I hope that life gets easier on you, and that you know you have so much more life to live than just these bad chapters. Im 30 years old now and only just experiencing what I consider to be the best years of my life. Keep going and you will find the good within the bad that helps you pull through. You are not alone in this chaos.
I agree with you, I am 18 years but during elementary and middle school I was ashamed to look like childish. When I was in elementary school people used to make jokes about me because they blamed to me that I was acting like a kid (and that’s what I was) because I liked to play with kids that were younger than me in the school, even if I were friends of the same age I liked to play with them because the friendship that I got with them was like older/little sister. So since that I became more insecure about my hobbies and even my personality (even I’ve never admitted before in deep I thought that they were true and I had like a delay in maturity compared to them so that’s was the explanation of my personality). But when I was in middle school, even if I still were insecure I was starting to asking me why do need to pretend to be older, are not we children and why should be mimic the people older that ours and only the “wrong side” of adults attitude that was most of the times the people that we see in only internet, Netflix series or in tv shows. Now that I’m older and I think that I gain more maturity I think the way that my tastes and hobbies were not too bad at all, I was just acting like a person of his age, so I am not frustrated but I hope that before I wasn’t too scared to be what I was by the fear of judgment of people. Analyzing the people that we used to see/consume I realize that honestly how fortunate at the end I was because I didn’t copy at all their behaviors, I don’t blame them because at the end children of 10/14 years are not clearly the public that they focus but they definitely are not a good example, ironically they only showed the excessive side of their active lives without fearing the consequences of their and treating like it was “cool” but the side part is that some of them just hide their mental illness or sadness, so finally it wasn’t a great example of what maturity should to be. I’m sorry for this long text but I wanted to conclude that be yourself, please don’t rush your teenage as people do, some people of my age or a little bit older feel bad because they didn’t take advantage of their “golden teenage era” and the worst part is that they didn’t learn something important that could be useful for adult life. If I could to say an advice to you (and my younger me) I would say that try to find content about personal development it is way more important, you can read or watch videos about good habits, how to be disciplinated and avoid procrastination and above all about mental health. actions of their active lives
im already 40 years old, but often I discuss with other people (some younger, some older) how lucky we were to not have to grow up with social media lurking around every corner and not having access to smartphones. Although i cannot be sure ofcourse, I think it was a simpler time. I feel for you and I hope things will turn out for the better for you. Being aware of what things darken your mind is a good weapon to have in the fight against inner demons. But unlike the protagonist of this game I urge to NOT go it alone, and I hope you have people around you can talk to. I wish you the best.
I agree with you about social media! I feel like those adults who said (when we were kids) that videogames turn your brain to mush or make you violent. But the difference is, studies show no correlation between videogames and violent behaviour, whereas there are studied links between mental health and social media use :(
The messaging was a bit heavy-handed, unlike the subtlety of the earlier games, but I’m glad they’re branching out and redefining what Silent Hill can be. The first few games were amazing in their own right but I think always clinging onto them and not letting the IP grow will do us fans a disservice in the end
The foreshadowing was a bit heavy for the first twist for sure but the second, even though obvious if you played SH2, was more earned and the finale revelation outside of one comment she made was built up well imo. It's not Downpour "shove it in your face" bad but could've been done more subtlety.
I honestly love how Gab comments on these darker stories. Just calling out contradictions, and just being honest about how she's feeling. It's really refreshing.
The giant holes and chained up door was a throwback/easter egg to Silent Hill 4: The Room. Also, the apartment you visit was kind of similar to the apartment of Henry Townshend. I loved that they didn't forget about that game!
the letters (at the start and end) made me think easter egg in a way as well. I still listen to my soundtracks and I kept thinking of the lyrics where its the letters to the future and past self. I think it was called "Letter- From the Lost Days". Could be wrong off the top of my head with that.@@lichking410
Also silent Hill isn't in silent Hill in that game. The essence is anywhere Henry is. He followed death where is went. And the music was giving sh4 vibes hard. Gave me nostalgia
Yeah sounds definitely twisted by depression, it's a very societal thing that people are supposed to deal with their own problems and not ask for help or they're considered weak.
the entire game has one puzzle-ish, but now i realize, the chase sequences are the main puzzle. after i played it for myself i watched the dev diaries uploaded to the official Silent Hill youtube channel, this game is basically their warm-up since they haven’t worked on a Silent Hill game in Konami in 20 years since Silent Hill 4, hence why it’s free… for what it is, i find it neat, and a solid introduction of the Silent Hill phenomenon that we’ll definitely see it used in its full potential in the future, so dont rush the negativity just yet, we need to let them Cook
well put. to add on, the idea of silent hill is twenty years(?) old, at this point. i think its fine for storytellers to reimagine what silent hill is. the themes are the same/similar - even if it lacks the core trope of it being *in* silent hill.
basically, but it was a bad idea though, the chase sequences felt more frustrating than scary, it kinda disregards most of the rules of terror in a bad way. if felt like it was only there so you would call it a game, but it probably would have been better if it was more like PT, just a long walk simulator with jumpscares.
*_Stares MF:edly at the intro as a part of the social pack ape species that controls the entire globe and made it there because of co-operation_* Ah, but then it's clearly just the teenage angst of a loner, so... Fitting.
And humans. Literally the most advanced social species on the planet. But then again it's clearly just the teenage angst of a loner, quite literally coping with her depressive situation so it'd be more out of place if it was actually insightful.
I wonder if the lack of subtlety is because it's all in one a short game, an introduction to new peoples to the themes of trauma and hidden truths of the franchise, AND a game for people who already know the franchise and are like "so, what's this charcter guilty of ?" after Silent Hill 2, you kinda always expect it, so they didn't wasted time on it
Thank you Gab, for playing this!! I really loved, the past Silent Hill games and this as such maybe a new take or like you know, a "brainstorming" project on it's own. It does indeed fail the old fans, by putting the SH in the title though.. What follows are merely my thougths - spoiler heavy - on what maybe the Devs wanted to create, (long but worth it): - So after you and the game revealed, that Maya was dead, and our character was texting with some 'entity' the suspicion in me rose, that we are not the person, the game want's the player to believe. I mean the name Amelie, could almost pronounced as "Am a lie" - and her findings of notes, books, the lockers, or others teasing "her" instead of Maya, makes me believe that she has multiple personalities. (When she saw herself lying on the floor dead also undermines this). Maya met her "Amelie" self, first, she saw her extrovert, beautiful side, cause that is what springs out! But as they grew closer, she opened up and Maya discovered her true self, who she fell in love with. (Noticed how Anita, keeps 2 social media accounts, 1 she gains followers for her "saxy" self (Amelie) the other account, where she lost followers, her true self Anita).. So in the end, really, Anita dies of guilt, that's why the "texts" of Amelie save her, cause now 'the other personality has the upper hand'! Thanks, whoever reads this..
I grew up in a similar home, only my dad was around and...was worse. If i had grown up on social media, I think I'd have absolutely ended up like Maya. I'm in therapy, have severe ptsd+ other acronyms, and every single day is fighting off the distorted and illogical thoughts like the statements at the start. My intellectual brain knows that "packs" and "seeking help" are not weaknesses, but my fear of connection, my horror at the idea of being treated like I was in the past whisper/scream very loudly.
I'm glad you made it through that and you're doing things to heal your mental wounds. I know I'm just a random dude on the net and my opinion probably doesn't mean much. But still, for what it's worth, I'm glad you're still here.
instead of caring what other people around me thought, I just moved and surrounded myself with new people. As far a social media is concerned, I don't use it. I also don't drive and can't use public transport due to anxiety. Distance is bliss. Although have to ride a bicycle 178 miles at some point this year to see my younger brother for the second time in 22 years... For the last time. EDIT... 356 miles in 48 hours, since i intend to return home.
Something actually interesting about the "Silent Hill Phenomena" there is something that has been talked about that is similar to what's being described in SH2 in one of the notes in the hospital ""The potential for this illness exists in all people and, under the right circumstances, any man or woman would be driven, like him, to the 'other side'. The 'other side' perhaps may not be the best way to phrase it. After all, there is no wall between here and there. It lies on the borders where reality and unreality intersect. It is a place both close and distant. Some say it isn't even an illness. I cannot agree with them. I'm a doctor, not a philosopher or even a psychiatrist. But sometimes I have to ask myself this question. It's true that to us his imaginings are nothing but the inventions of a busy mind. But to him, there simply is no other reality. Furthermore he is happy there. So why, I ask myself, why in the name of healing him must we drag him painfully into the world of our own reality?"
This phenomena was popular because Sh2 game. But "the other world" of others silent Hills (1&3) was just the real world deformed by the Powers of Alessa and Valtiel. Yeah, It was based in the fears of Alessa and Heather but It was the real world, not a other plane. A can speak also for Homecoming but not for Downpour because I havent played It and Origins inst even follow the Lore.
@@yaninsanchez6136 yeah I'm pretty sure in 1 it talks about how Alessa's powers can alter the physical reality to those around her, so in a sense her powers manifest her SHP to the physical world and the people around her
@livingtoaster1358 In the sense of the Silent Hill Phenomenon, Alessa's psyche was the most twisted, being able to alter reality and all. So the Phenomenon isn't far off by any means, her trauma was just that powerful.
@@VisionoftheChief yeah on top of her powers but interestingly enough Harry describes the other world as so blurry like he was transported from reality to a nightmare describing it dream-like and then towards the end he says "this time it's different" because reality is the nightmare which again aligns up with SHP the difference is, Alessa's powers can bring other people into her's and also make reality itself into her SHP
It doesn't quite feel like a Silent Hill game. I can't put my finger on it, but this game was missing something that Silent Hill games had. Maybe the eerie atmosphere. And maybe Silent Hill has more gross elements in it. But as a free game, like you said, not bad.
I know what it misses. SILENT HILL. It doesn't even take place in SH. This game is not worthy of its title. It has zero sh*t to do with it. Big fail for me
Not enough symbolic body horrors, the exploration of trauma is too surface-level with little room for speculation, and maybe perhaps not enough rusts or gunk
It doesn't feel like it because it doesn't have anything that makes Silent hIll a Silent hHill game, it feels like every first person horror game that's been played to death by every youtuber in existence in the last 10 years, it feels like that, a game that youtubers will play for views and then move to the next thing, that's it.
I know a lot of people are complaining, but for a free mini game I enjoyed the play through - stressful chases and all! I like that they explained the Silent Hill fog and tied Sakura flowers & art into the game.
I’d consider myself a die hard old school Silent Hill fan but I really did enjoy The Short Message. Giving it a first person view made it totally unique, and its dark story was perfect for that universe.
You know what, I like that they kept the looping concept. Since PT was cancelled, I feel like the franchise wasnt complete without it. And seeing the new games that were annouced, I was hoping the concept would make it's comeback 🥺
first off p.t wasnt cancelled as it was a PLAYABLE TEASER the game silent hills was cancelled 😔i dont mean to come across as mean but it just annoys me when people keep thinking p.t was going to be the actual game
@sampotham9528 I didn't even know it was meant to be just for the teaser. I thought it was meant to be more like a demo, and usually demos will either be a random point of the game or the beginning ( prologue I guess?). My point was mostly that the concept was good and the main actual game being never done because of the situation with Konami and Kojima, it felt like a waste. And no hard feelings, I get it
@@Kaffeeisresting awesome and yeah i get that its why i wanted to state that i wasnt coming from a place of aggression more of an informative one although i will say i am sort of glad kojimas silent hills got cancelled because putting in celebs into games is usually a sign that a game needs some sort of gimmick to draw people in but in this case it just felt like kojima wanted to hang out with norman reedus
as someone who didn't liked P.T, i really liked the implementation of looping in this game, ruminating while you are in a emotional crisis is the worst feeling ever.
I didn't hate it for what it's worth. I feel like there is some cool stuff in there like the Flowerhead design or even the environment and I don't mind what they're doing with the "Silent Hill Phenomenon" stuff, in 3 and 4 the town was already reaching other places so I feel like they could make it make sense. The themes though are pretty heavy, I don't mind that per say since that's the way Silent Hill's always been but I feel like they were very heavy handed in the way they showed things and handled some stuff with the subtlety and care of a sledgehammer to the face and the voice acting wasn't good enough to carry it either. At the end of the day it's free and I don't think it's terrible, it's obvious it's trying to emulate P.T. in some ways but fails on a lot of stuff. Still cautiously excited for f and townfall.
I didn't wanna play this myself 'cause of the trigger warnings, but having Gab go through it with me feels a lot safer :) awesome video as always, and I can't believe they just gave us a random free game out of nowhere.
I have played this as well. And as like an old school proper Silent Hill game, it didn't really fit the bill. But, as a game made to introduce those that haven't played a Silent Hill game before, I thought that it did a good job of showing what the core essence of the games are. That the monsters aren't just there to be there. They have meaning to them. At least the major ones do. It also shows that the characters didn't just stumble across this, but they are going through things and all of these different aspects are related.
I agree that there should be an age limit for social media too. My first experience with social media was when I was 14 and it was on myspace and things weren't terrible back then but I know there was a ton of cyberbullying happening with other people around me too. I always kept my profiles really private cause I don't really like attention, but I can only imagine how bad it would be for young people nowadays where social media is so big. It wasn't so big when I was 14 cause it was just starting, but almost 20 years later it's grown a lot and become a central thing in a lot of people's lives. I really fear for my niece and how her and her generation are going to cope with having a lot of their lives online. I don't think I could handle today's social media culture if I was 14 again.
Exactly this. I remember using myspace, facebook and all that when it first started becoming popular and it never had that effect because at least to us we only ever accepted or added people we knew personally. When it became quite normal to give it out like business cards to everyone I started using another account that I would never touch lol. These days I honestly don't even touch social media.
Tried 3 types of meds before I found the right one for my generalised anxiety disorder. Was tedious trying ones that didn't work but I'm so much better now 🎉
I have been through so many my psychatrist keeps loosing track, and so do I, she keeps having to pull up the notes and running through them. But we've found things that HELP so much, and I am SO much better than I was before. So to anyone reading, I know it's hard, I know. It's expensive, it's frustrating, and it is such a pain in the ass, but PLEASE to anyone reading don't give up, keep trying. And if your doctor or psychologist is like "Well we tried these two or three so I'm out of ideas" GO TO A DIFFERENT DOCTOR. There are SO many and there are different combinations as well. I'm still not up to 100%, I'd say I'm probably at about 60-65% of someone without anxiety and depression, but from literally THE BRINK? That's pretty damn good. I can function, and have good days, and go places with my friends. Do not give up, keep trying, and when it doesn't work, give it a little time, but don't be afraid to say "It's not working, I need to try something else." You will find something that helps. And they're still making more and developing more!
The symbolism and minor details scattered throughout this game are going to have people coming back years later proclaiming this to be such an incredible piece of art. EVERYTHING, every tiny thing in this game ties everyone and their traumas together through generations. This shows the entire picture of what trauma is and not just what one person is going through. If this is how they choose to proceed with Silent Hill, I am a major fan. The purgatory that is Silent Hill and the metaphor they’re trying to make it is much more ambiguous yet clear cut compared to the originals. I loved the originals but cmon, there’s nowhere else those games can go and times have changed. This is a great direction for them. Don’t forget, everyone still won’t shut up or compare everything to PT and that was a free demo. This is yet another project they’re throwing out, for free, to give people a taste.
The mental health and safety warning was literally the first thing that popped up (@00:21) and was on screen right before our character started talking to her adult self. Not just after the first "act" or part of the game @30:46.
Silent Hill has become less of the town in one location. Silent Hill is a tailor-made hell for the guilty individuals, manifestations/ guilt/ regret, what have you. This was great, we appreciate you.
One thing I don't like about the recent games is that they follow the SH2 formula, when the town has a vast religious history and it is through their Gods and the town's tainted divinity that this phenomenon happens in the first place. Since SH2 is the most popular, people believe that the city calls to people with darkness in their hearts and that there is something like the "other world" when in SH1 and SH3 the nightmare world is nothing more than the real world changed by the powers of Valtiel or Alessa, they completely forget the town's lore, cult, religious background, etc.
Yeah the whole repressed trauma stuff just took over and people forget that silent hill was originally about the town cult and it's attempts to bring their god into the world, Silent Hill 2 started to define the series in a way it never should have
I've been around since the very first Silent Hill game. This has a lot of the same plot types and atmosphere, even though it didn't take place "in" Silent Hill. I think in these later entries, especially after the kibosh of PT, Silent Hill has become more of a feeling than a place. I'm excited to see what they do with Silent Hill f soon.
me too, I'm excited to see it. I also personally think with them going forward with new content, the changes so that Silent Hill can be Anywhere is necessary, it being tied to one location is just too limiting. Like what new thing were they gonna do with old characters and plot lines and events that they already covered? In the 4th game they even resorted to tangential, mentioned characters and organizations from previous games and "Silent Hill exerting its influence on a nearby town" like. They needed to change it up.
Holy heck! They teased the flower monster years ago but it looked like they wouldn’t end up doing anything with it. Hopefully this is a tech demo of sorts to build excitement for an upcoming full length game. You know, kinda like… never mind. Not gonna jynx it by saying 😂
40:26 - Leiden university is the oldest university in the Netherlands, but the university of Bologna is Europe's (and the world's) oldest university. It dates back to 1088. The word "university" was first created to refer to it.
I kept thinking I'd hear " It was Just a Prank Han" from Until Dawn📢😂 I really enjoyed the story and acting. Only when the piano notes leapt up at points in a quick easy steps🤳🏽 did it feel Silent Hill.
I played this about a month ago. Didn't think the world of it but it has good points for sure. I think this game goes to show that you need more of the original team than just Ito and Yamaoka for a Silent Hill game because frankly my two favorite aspects were the monster and music lol. I didn't know it was them until after I played through it, but I kinda figured it was just by the style.
Great gameplay as always Gab~ Didnt expect Konami would actually put this full experience for free on the store! Raising awarenss on suicide issues are very on point, that sense of lost when you run around getting stressed out by the 'inner demons' is not something ordinary people can relate as that distress can really push people over the edge, I am glad this demo exist and look forward to more Silent Hill titles!
Mm, it was blah for a “standard” SH game, but I can appreciate the direction they’re going in. Any SH game moving forward will never be like the originals; however, adopting with the times is the best move to keep it fresh. It makes sense for Konami to release this (for free) before the SH2 remake to gauge the reaction and reception of the new direction. Konami is well aware of the diehard fan base SH has and knows by remaking SH2 (the best one out of the series) they cannot afford to mess it up. For this release’s base premise to be seemingly similar to SH2 story makes total sense! This will also give us clues how they have been approaching the remake of SH2. So they’re either close to wrapping up SH2 or they’re looking to tweak some things based on the reactions received.
As per Masahiro Ito (the creatures designer of Silent Hill games) he said that "SH" means Silent Hill. Also it actually means Sakura Head aka Cherry Blossom creature. Also, Silent Hill f had a cheery blossom theme in its trailer, and I found that to be cool tbh 😅
The opening quote is meant to be from a wrong-headed teenager neck-deep in teenage angst (fueled by a friend's suicide), so it makes sense that she doesn't get the importance of connections. I enjoyed the reprise of the quote in the end, showed character development
It feels like Konami was almost reluctant to release this game with how they dropped it with basically zero promotion as a PS5 exclusive. Everyone I know who has heard of this game only found out about it when it dropped through the PS5 store. It's not even like a teaser demo like PT that was a bit of an easter egg that ended up blowing up, this is literally the full game. I can't help but feel a bit bad for these third party devs that clearly put a lot of work into this game. My opinion overall is that the game is pretty decent but it lacks subtext and the main character talks too much and interrupts your train of thought, the most egregious case being when you inspect the locker and she says "is there something I'm hiding from myself?" like yes, we know the locker is symbolising your repressed memories and emotions, you don't need to explain it to us like we're five. I really liked the chase sequences, they feel like when Pyramid Head is chasing you in SH2 and I think future SH games should implement chase sequences like this, but perhaps make them a little less frustrating.
Silent Hill games are normally show don't tell but this one kinda made me feel like they assumed the player was too dumb to pick up on the story if they didn't shout the story from the rooftops.
I get what you're saying but there are so many people today that play games or watch movies and just don't get them, there's a huge portion of people that honestly don't get subtlety today, and have to have things explained to them. I think a lot of it has to do with people's attention spans dwindling, which is honestly really sad.
@@vinnygothika7510But player doesn't need to understand the story to enjoy the game if the game is good. Like a lot of indie horror games with subtle storytelling
I'm amazed at the amount of people celebrating a retcon of the original lore which made Silent Hill unique in the first place. This new version not only doesn't accurately state what the phenomenon is in the original town, but doesn't even need to requirements for the phenomenon to exist in the first place. Anyone celebrating this either never played the originals, watched some youtube documentary on it and think then now know what it's about, or are newcomers who are too uninformed on the subject.
I really agree with Gab about social media. My mom is a pediatric psychologist and a patient of hers is 10 but has already been bullied by people online in the cosplay community and is obsessed with getting better at a lot of things so people will like her. It's depressing to me that her childhood has already been taken from her.
I don't know, I've always thought of Silent Hill this way - as more of a state than solely a geographical location. Of course, I really liked the town featured in earlier games but I think it can be both. Kinda like the Twilight Zone where ppl may travel into it unwittingly or the Zone just "happens" right where they are no matter how familiar they are with the location. I liked the call backs of the phone being the modern equivalent of the radio and I feel like a few elements were very PT esque like the bathroom and the baby crying. I like it!
Started watching your videos a few months ago. Could never stand gameplay with commentary until I found your channel! Very chill, very relaxing, and you seem like an awesome person :)
Gab basically predicting the storyline within the first 20 minutes of playing lol And I agree on the social media thing, even as an adult I lowkey despise social media and the influence it has on people. 16 year old me would have beaten herself up constantly. Adult me consiously made the decision to not post pictures on instagram anymore. I just view content on there that brings me joy and laughter... like funny animal videos.
i really enjoyed this for what it was and i definitely count it as silent hill just because its not directly in silent hill the connections are there a witches curse, grief, depression and guilt and for those saying its like p.t because you die and it loops have never played silent hill 2 and watched maria die like 3 times
I'm with you, Gab. I'm old. I would of probably not had any socials. I don't now. Just RUclips. I hate social media most of the time. There definitely should be a age limit. That's why kids are messed up these days.
I... Just wish the game had more subtext. I think it's pretty, I like the fmvs, I like the visual style, but.. I just really think the game would have a greater impact if there was, like, any ambiguity. At all.
I somewhat agree with her saying "I want to be strong on my own without a group". That can be a good thing if all the people around you let you down. I grew up when there wasn't a huge emphasis on stopping bullying. As messed up as this sounds being bullied in junior high taught me self reliance and to not rely on other people for support. This is just my personal experience and i know not everyone feels like I do.
Then she follows it up with "I wish someone would understand that" why would you need someone else to understand that yourself strong on your own, she already failed. I suppose that's the point. Some people can't stand to be alone with their thoughts or not distracted. I really like alone time, probably something to do with people growing up on social media and constant stimulation needing approval and attention etc. Which i think this game tries to tackle.
I love alone time, just turn off the outside world and decompress. I'm glad I didn't grow up with social media, not needing constant validation is a great thing. Having too much exposure to things online can be unhealthy. My father passed away around the same time the Ukraine conflict started so that's all that was being talked about. I read too much of it to the point I was having dreams about nuclear war. It bled into my waking life to the point I was expecting to see mushroom clouds every time I looked out a window.
In her art, she said that she depicts beautiful plants coming out of the person scars. I noticed that in Maya's and Amilie's self-portrait, the plant was growing from inside their pants. So maybe that represents what they were going through
As a woman who almost didn't make it to her 17th birthday it really does only take one person to break through your pain and show you that its worth it to live
Honestly, after Silent Hill 4, this isn’t too surprising of a branch out. The idea that Silent Hill’s hold on people when it comes to guilt can branch out to people outside of the town wouldn’t be a stretch. The lore in the books, etc has done stuff like this before, not to the extent of being in another country, but I’m not too surprised. We already knew the new game showcased was seemingly in Japan, and this could set the stage that Silent Hill is like a spreading disease that grabs hold of those suffering, almost like a parasite. (Which was portrayed in the new game trailer too)
23:55 this just sent me down the rabbit hole of watching all of your most recent Silent Hill Playthroughs from start to finish, because I just realised that I've never seen any of them. Which is kinda crazy considering that I've been subscribed to this channel for years at this point. Anyway, see you back here once I've reached the other side 😄 Very excited to go discover the Silent Hill games for the first time now!
Yeah I agree with Gab. It's a good game but it's not really a Silent Hill game. It just doesn't have the right vibe. I think part of it might have to do with the talk of social media. Most Silent Hill games have a vibe where it could take place in almost any decade. But this game really dates itself.
I love watching you play Silent Hill Gab, I always forget how big of a fan you are to Silent Hill. As another Silent Hill fan I'm happy to see another person passionate about the series.
I literally didn't read anyone's opinions on this before watching it and I personally loved it and cried at the end. Having lost my dad to suicide, it really got to me! Sadly, I don't have a PS5 so I can't play it yet.. Best not to look at reviews because if I had done that when the original Silent Hill 2 came out, I never would have bought it! Don't let other people's views tarnish your own experience! Love this and can't wait to play it! 💗
20:05 I agree with you. I’m grateful that my parents got me a flip phone as my first phone and then a smart one when I was around 16. I’m not as reliant on it as others my age and living more in the moment rather than trying to capture everything behind a screen.
I was waiting for this videoooo!! Edit: I consider myself a die hard fan but I am always open of new formulas, like with RE , I love re but I will be open to whatever new mechanic they want to bring
I had social media growing up. I had a bunch of classmates on my friends list, despite not being friends. They would do those " lms for to be honest" statuses. Except then they would only do the other popular kids, so I would see them doing it on other classmates pages, and I wouldn't even get a pity compliment. It led to me feeling even more isolated at school. I have a 3 year old now, and I want to make sure she does not experience social media like I did.
The ending made me cry. The same thing happened to me and a message as ordinary as that "let's go shopping tomorrow" can really pull you out of it. This game really needs few sources for mental health, SA and other. For a free game this was so good and the ending was really important. Thanks for playing, Gabs.
As a mom to 3 girls, this definitely hits different. I don't allow my kids cell phones until they're in at least middle school, nor do I allow any sort of social media just because I know how toxic it can be. Snapchat is another wildly horrible place. :/ I do the best I can to protect my kids, but also try to not shelter them too much, it's a very hard line to balance.
The only thing she said in the beginning that's true Is that you shouldn't sacrifice who you are to fit into a group. If they are worth hanging out with they will accept you for you
For being Silent Hill… meh. But the detail of the environment was beautiful. For what it’s worth, if the content of this game seems corny, today I’ve been processing the recent death of my friend of a long time by suicide. And she was an extremely talented artist to boot. Working through my grief, while the character worked abstractly through her own grief, actually did something for me. Feeling hopeless, myself, and seeing a happy ending was exactly what I needed. Thanks, Gabs.
Aaaaa! I'm so happy you played this. I watched a no commentary vid of it a few days ago with my partner cuz I was excited something came out lol and I was like "man I hope gab plays it." 💕
Even at 16 social media is terrible. I know I sound like a boomer but I had unrestricted access to the internet at 15(I was born in '87) and I'm pretty sure that's a major cause of my social issues now
I didn't relate at all to the main character and their struggles, especially with the social media aspect of everything. At least, not until the very end and I was CRYING. Almost immediately after high school, my two friends decided they did not want to be friends with me anymore, which admittedly was partly because of the way I viewed myself, my self deprication, and inability to see when people truly care for me. It has been almost a year and I've still been unable to make any new friends, my partner lives in another town and only visits once a week (if that) and it gets pretty depressing and lonely and I've contemplated suicide numerous times. When Anita is about to jump but gets the text from Amelie just making plans with her so that she has something to live for tomorrow and then Maya's spirit blows the wind to make Anita fall away from the edge encouraging her to go, it sent me BALLING my eyes out. There have been many games and media that try to tackle suicide but this is the first one that REALLY got me and also didn't overstay its welcome. I think the game is amazing in that regard (don't know why it's a Silent Hill game but you know).
It is a fascinating game in a sence not only that it unravels the social media phenomenon that has done so much to injure the young population, but also in a sense of touching the topic of despair and hollow in the life of... well, basically, anyone at all - young and old. We can all be living through a prism of our suffering - some more than others - and this can cause us to lose hope and touch with reality, throwing us into the depth of what Anita experienced - an endless loop trying to get away from a monster you fear... a desperate attempt to find the pieces that will lead you out of this terrifying maze... a connection that you might not see there... As a game - sure, it does need a bit more thought and a couple of puzzles, I agree there. But as a thought-provoking creation - this is something that I see finding people's attention and understanding. Stay safe, everyone. If you feel alone - maybe, you just don't see people near you that are actually worrying for you. Don't take the final step. Seek help even if you think you aren't worthy. You are worthy.
Ive recently gotten rid of most of my Social Media. It is most definitely addicting and its used to mine for your info. It needs to be changed big time cause it can be a positive thing that can bring people together. But so much of it is poisonous anymore. I beleive lots of things will have to change for it to be less toxic. People should not be looking for validation outside themselves when it comes in loving yourself ❤ BTW im very glad there wasnt social media when i was young. I worry about its impact on young girls 😔
i really enjoyed watching you play this game. ive been getting into the older silent hill games recently but have only played silent hill 2 (which was amazing). visually i really loved the colours in this game and of course the monster design is always amazing. and the story was really good to me, as someone who struggles w mental health issues myself im glad it didnt shy away from things but shows that there can be a happy ending, like w the ending letter replying to the letter written by her younger self saying we were wrong we can be loved and helped. i was disappointed that there werent more puzzles in this game tho and more actual gameplay. but for a free game it is by no means a bad game. i like to see it as a stepping stone for silent hill in the future, showing the potential for more games and how they might approach it, which is why im not as fussed about them putting silent hill in the title. i do like the idea that maybe the chained bit where the chase sequences take place is a place that plays a similar role to silent hill. helping people figure out the truth and try to overcome the trauma theyre hiding from perhaps but that might just be me trying to connect it to silent hill and a bit of a sretch.
While it is normally in silent hill, the games have always made it seem that Alessas tragedy and agony made the town that way. So maybe all these girls jumping is causing the same kind of thing here. Creating an alternative, twisted dimension in which the girls pain amd insecurities manifest as monsters.
I absolutely loved this... It showed the reality of stuff especially when covid hit and how kids were living day to day with everything... Social media kills those with genuine true hearts in this world and honestly I felt like I was part of this like I was Maya... It hit home and really close to home tbh... But it shows more of what my little sister has been going through with growing up with and revolved around social media... She turns 18 at the end of this month, but it doesn't make anything any easier at all and it shows what struggles kids go through and don't tell anyone but keep showing a "mask" and a smile when in public to cover those problems up so nobody knows... I am a little disappointed with the very small Silent Hill connection, but it's a good connection if u think about it with the fog lifting at the end...
idk why, silent hill games always scare me so much till sometimes my head spin for a sec. I'm afraid of japanese style ghosts/ those that walks while twitching/ glitching. RE-like games i still dare to play by my own but silent hill... never. But i do love their story so i just watch let's plays. Thank you gab for playing these games, at least i can calm my butt down and not throwing whatever i'm holding at the moment XD
I agree with you Gab. There should be an age limit on social media.
@@justapanpirate Filters don't work and also that is very Big Brother of you.
They should have named it just "The Short Message" and left that one easter egg to let people know it's part of the silent hill universe
In honor to PT xD
Yeah, that would have been interesting
@@sosaalexis48maybe not cuz trauma has not healed yet 😂
I'm guessing because no one should have played it without knowing
the room was originally supposed to be just called "the room" but konami wants them to add silent hill 4 instead
It wouldn't work. The Short Message title and story leaked months ago. Just without a release date. People would already know 😅
"The city of NO HOPE"
The first time I saw it, I read it as the city of NOPE 😂😂
I mean you're not wrong~ It is the CITY OF NOPE.

It's crazy.
also yay september 24th mention, that's my birthday lol
Took eleven years to finish undergrad and now I'm going for PhD to fulfill my dreams. You can do it!
People really shouldn’t rule out trades and other practical certifications, especially since getting a degree doesn’t really grant anything in terms of jobs or future these day! Said as someone who took forever to get a doctorate only to be unemployed or on short-term contracts 😂
I took the trade school route, there's so many options out there.
On one hand, it's good that mental help access is easier than ever, but on the other hand, more people need it now than ever.
Thanks for all the lovely comments guys, I really appreciate you!
im already 40 years old, but often I discuss with other people (some younger, some older) how lucky we were to not have to grow up with social media lurking around every corner and not having access to smartphones.
But the difference is, studies show no correlation between videogames and violent behaviour, whereas there are studied links between mental health and social media use :(
Mind blown
"HAVE YOU HEARD OF LIONS" killed me
The messaging was a bit heavy-handed, unlike the subtlety of the earlier games, but I’m glad they’re branching out and redefining what Silent Hill can be. The first few games were amazing in their own right but I think always clinging onto them and not letting the IP grow will do us fans a disservice in the end
yeah its different devs after all but i still enjoyed how this turned out
I agree, it was about as subtle as a smack in the face hahahaha
@@sampotham9528 same I actually had chills by the end the emotions are done really well in the game!
@Sintanity is not like a slap more like a train.
I felt like the chase sequences were similar to Downpour as well. Really liked that they pulled a bit from previous titles.
the letters (at the start and end) made me think easter egg in a way as well.
I love that about this game. The call backs, and revitalizing the series.
Fun Fact: The English name of the city this takes place in, Kettenstadt, means Chain City
"The strongest animals don't form groups", what? Wolfs, Elephants, Killer Whales... Who wrote this?
A literal teenage loner coping with her depression. The main character.
Hence the uninsightful teenage angst.
I think it's supposed to be some sort of world view twisted by depression...
Yeah sounds definitely twisted by depression, it's a very societal thing that people are supposed to deal with their own problems and not ask for help or they're considered weak.
An edgy teenager. I definitely used to think like that when I was about 13
the point is that it doesnt make sense, she wrote it while on the verge of suicide
the entire game has one puzzle-ish, but now i realize, the chase sequences are the main puzzle.
after i played it for myself i watched the dev diaries uploaded to the official Silent Hill youtube channel, this game is basically their warm-up since they haven’t worked on a Silent Hill game in Konami in 20 years since Silent Hill 4, hence why it’s free… for what it is, i find it neat, and a solid introduction of the Silent Hill phenomenon that we’ll definitely see it used in its full potential in the future, so dont rush the negativity just yet, we need to let them Cook
well put. to add on, the idea of silent hill is twenty years(?) old, at this point. i think its fine for storytellers to reimagine what silent hill is. the themes are the same/similar - even if it lacks the core trope of it being *in* silent hill.
No way in hell someone from original Team Silent worked on this nonsense.
What potential, man? Thia complete zero of a game has no potential whatsoever.
well. the vibes were nice while it lasted 🫡 imma head out
basically, but it was a bad idea though, the chase sequences felt more frustrating than scary, it kinda disregards most of the rules of terror in a bad way. if felt like it was only there so you would call it a game, but it probably would have been better if it was more like PT, just a long walk simulator with jumpscares.
“What?! Have you heard of LIONS” incredible sass immediately
At the same time as I said "Have you heard of WOLVES?" XD the audacity of this script my god.
The intro:
Wolves, lions, hyenas, etc have left the chat
*_Stares MF:edly at the intro as a part of the social pack ape species that controls the entire globe and made it there because of co-operation_*
Ah, but then it's clearly just the teenage angst of a loner, so... Fitting.
I was legit thinking the same thing. Also, elephants.
And humans. Literally the most advanced social species on the planet.
But then again it's clearly just the teenage angst of a loner, quite literally coping with her depressive situation so it'd be more out of place if it was actually insightful.
@@RuSosan that makes sense, i actually like this take
@@RuSosan pretty much, they did capture the teenager edgy stupidity pretty well. I'm sure she will cringe hard when she sees it when she is like 25.
I wonder if the lack of subtlety is because it's all in one a short game, an introduction to new peoples to the themes of trauma and hidden truths of the franchise, AND a game for people who already know the franchise and are like "so, what's this charcter guilty of ?"
after Silent Hill 2, you kinda always expect it, so they didn't wasted time on it
Thank you Gab, for playing this!! I really loved, the past Silent Hill games and this as such maybe a new take or like you know, a "brainstorming" project on it's own. It does indeed fail the old fans, by putting the SH in the title though..
What follows are merely my thougths - spoiler heavy - on what maybe the Devs wanted to create, (long but worth it):
- So after you and the game revealed, that Maya was dead, and our character was texting with some 'entity' the suspicion in me rose, that we are not the person, the game want's the player to believe.
You would have been okay
I’m so sorry you went through that 🥺
Something actually interesting about the "Silent Hill Phenomena" there is something that has been talked about that is similar to what's being described in SH2 in one of the notes in the hospital
""The potential for this illness
exists in all people and, under
the right circumstances, any
man or woman would be driven,
like him, to the 'other side'.
The 'other side' perhaps may
not be the best way to phrase it.
After all, there is no wall between
here and there. It lies on the
borders where reality and unreality
intersect. It is a place both close
and distant.
Some say it isn't even an illness.
I cannot agree with them. I'm a
doctor, not a philosopher or even
a psychiatrist.
But sometimes I have to ask
myself this question. It's true
that to us his imaginings are
nothing but the inventions of
a busy mind. But to him, there
simply is no other reality.
Furthermore he is happy there.
So why, I ask myself, why in the
name of healing him must we drag
him painfully into the world of our
own reality?"
@@yaninsanchez6136 yeah I'm pretty sure in 1 it talks about how Alessa's powers can alter the physical reality to those around her, so in a sense her powers manifest her SHP to the physical world and the people around her
No western developers can match team silent their genius is what made older games so iconic.
Whether it's free or not doesn't and shouldn't factor. It's crap.
It feels like a rejected Life is Strange story and they don't know what to do so the slaped a Silent Hill title on it and thought….no one will notice.
In all honesty, I took one distant look at social media and decided that it wasn't for me. And I am still glad I made this decision
I know a lot of people are complaining, but for a free mini game I enjoyed the play through - stressful chases and all! I like that they explained the Silent Hill fog and tied Sakura flowers & art into the game.
As a german I can confirm that your "Kettenstadt" is so much better than the devs german spell checking
Same
first off p.t wasnt cancelled as it was a PLAYABLE TEASER the game silent hills was cancelled 😔i dont mean to come across as mean but it just annoys me when people keep thinking p.t was going to be the actual game
19:48 I agree 100%, social media helped me a lot in certain situations, but overall it hurt me a lot more.
That monster is right up there with some of my favorite SH enemies. Simple but creepy. Also the final otherworld looks really really good.
"I like the idea of being in a condemned building and having no idea of how I got there."
-Gab 2024
I find it funny how this takes place in a german town and yet the school looks very much like an american high school. Oops 😅

@@Kimby-KATT thank you K, sending warm and fuzzy vibes. Have a lovely weekend 🙌
Who asked?
@@kinggizzwizfizzyou're the type of person this game warns people about.
28:08 All the transitions into Silent Hill are so good
It looks a lot better on here than how it actually plays. The frame drop there is fuckin SEVERE for a second
@@Overqualification I had a little fps stutter once, but nothing that ruined the experience
Silent Hill has become less of the town in one location. Silent Hill is a tailor-made hell for the guilty individuals, manifestations/ guilt/ regret, what have you. This was great, we appreciate you.
this girl started pissing Gab off arond the 30 minute mark 😭😂
One thing I don't like about the recent games is that they follow the SH2 formula, when the town has a vast religious history and it is through their Gods and the town's tainted divinity that this phenomenon happens in the first place. Since SH2 is the most popular, people believe that the city calls to people with darkness in their hearts and that there is something like the "other world" when in SH1 and SH3 the nightmare world is nothing more than the real world changed by the powers of Valtiel or Alessa, they completely forget the town's lore, cult, religious background, etc.
Yeah the whole repressed trauma stuff just took over and people forget that silent hill was originally about the town cult and it's attempts to bring their god into the world,
Silent Hill 2 started to define the series in a way it never should have
I've been around since the very first Silent Hill game.
LMAO This garbage wishes it could be P.T.
Silent Hill F has some flower thing going on so maybe a connection
i just finished your 2020 Silent Hill 2 playthrough and was itching for more Silent Hill- this came at the perfect time!
40:26 - Leiden university is the oldest university in the Netherlands, but the university of Bologna is Europe's (and the world's) oldest university. It dates back to 1088. The word "university" was first created to refer to it.
It's the University of al-qarawiyyin founded by a Muslim lady
I kept thinking I'd hear " It was Just a Prank Han" from Until Dawn📢😂
I really enjoyed the story and acting.
I'm thinking, maybe the witch cursed Kettelstadt in a similar way to Silent Hill. So it's like an expansion to that purgatory.
Great gameplay as always Gab~
Didnt expect Konami would actually put this full experience for free on the store!
I love the purgatory/limbo feeling of Silent Hill.
That is a huge problem with this game, absolutely no subtlety
Reminds me of the psycho in Evil Within
I'm amazed at the amount of people celebrating a retcon of the original lore which made Silent Hill unique in the first place.
This has so much shattered memories in it...and SH 2 with our own personal pyramid head in the form of sakura blossoms.
I really agree with Gab about social media. My mom is a pediatric psychologist and a patient of hers is 10 but has already been bullied by people online in the cosplay community and is obsessed with getting better at a lot of things so people will like her. It's depressing to me that her childhood has already been taken from her.
My first social media was when I was 17 and it was Facebook. Im 34 now and i can definitely say that it had a negative influence on my mental health.
I like it!
I really missed the Silent Hill-Vibe in this one. Thanks for playing Gab, greetings from Germany :)
Started watching your videos a few months ago. Could never stand gameplay with commentary until I found your channel! Very chill, very relaxing, and you seem like an awesome person :)
Gab basically predicting the storyline within the first 20 minutes of playing lol
And I agree on the social media thing, even as an adult I lowkey despise social media and the influence it has on people. 16 year old me would have beaten herself up constantly. Adult me consiously made the decision to not post pictures on instagram anymore. I just view content on there that brings me joy and laughter... like funny animal videos.
Was not expecting a Road to El Dorado reference at 1:00:06 during a horror game play through but I’m here for it 😂
I love that movie😂😂😂
i really enjoyed this for what it was and i definitely count it as silent hill just because its not directly in silent hill the connections are there a witches curse, grief, depression and guilt and for those saying its like p.t because you die and it loops have never played silent hill 2 and watched maria die like 3 times
This is NO Silent Hill game.
It ain't silent hill, stop.
So maybe that represents what they were going through
It felt very implied that amelie experienced cocsa with her brother :(
At one point you find a pregnancy test in the art studio. So maybe Maya miscarried? Plus I believe Amelie might have been raped by her brother.
Good catch. I thought so as well
As a woman who almost didn't make it to her 17th birthday it really does only take one person to break through your pain and show you that its worth it to live
(Which was portrayed in the new game trailer too)
The message is so deep, I teared up...Also, I can't with the chase sequences too much anxiety, haha...Well played Gab
Gab playing Silent Hill is my Superbowl 🙌
Those chase sequences reminded me of Shattered Memories. Glad you were playing - that last one would've stressed me the hell out, haha
I saw Johns play through and I loved the ending, this is a game that needs to exist. I'm looking forward to watch Gab play now.
It was ok, nothing special.
This game broke me, seriously. I cried like a baby. I don't feel like it was really a Silent Hill game, but it was definitely worth a play.
I’ve been watching you forever thanks for always making good content
So happy Gab is playing this! Don't think I dare to play it myself 😅
Glad i got to watch you play it first, silent hill has a special place in my heart and your first play throughs are still my favourites
If they are worth hanging out with they will accept you for you
Gab turned into a total cool mom on this one LMAO
For being Silent Hill… meh. But the detail of the environment was beautiful.
For what it’s worth, if the content of this game seems corny, today I’ve been processing the recent death of my friend of a long time by suicide. And she was an extremely talented artist to boot. Working through my grief, while the character worked abstractly through her own grief, actually did something for me. Feeling hopeless, myself, and seeing a happy ending was exactly what I needed. Thanks, Gabs.
I hope you are doing as well as you can!
