Ahh man, I started playing right after this patch came out (so April 2014). Can't believe that was 10 years ago. I love that they've kept the old promotional sites after all these years. And I kinda miss the old style of patch trailers! 3.5 is the last trailer in this style so they changed it with Stormblood release.
Man, I started the game a couple of days before this patch hit. I played for a bit, got hooked, then got annoyed when there was a 24 hour maintenance pretty much immediately.
I don't think I've ever watched the really old patch trailers. These days, patch trailers are much shorter and they don't spell out every single thing. Heck, they just show footage and play music and dialog over it, even if the dialog has nothing to do with the footage; MSQ dialog will often play over scenes from Normal/Alliance raids.

That little bit at the end of the trailer was a little tasty morsel for FF5 fans. Gilgamesh makes a cameo in many FFs
Stream chat told me a little bit about this and I really enjoyed Gilgamesh's character + fight in 2.3, looking forward to more!

I started in 2.0 but XIV was my first mmo and I was very off and on so I didn’t hit max level till a week after this patch dropped lol
