Where I come from a bramble is muddled berries, gin or bourbon, citrus juice, and ice but also syrup or a liqueur like crème de cassis or Chambord instead of the syrup. However if I am using bourbon I like to use a cheap port instead of the liqueur. Port lets the berries do the talking and bourbon bring the sweet.
@@candidfob8423 Lime and lemon both work for it, I’ve seen it made with that or just a mix of gin with cordial since it combines the sugar and lime anyways. I’ve also seen sweet and sour mix used for convenience purposes. Ultimately it’s the zesty-citrus pop you’re looking for in that part.

Try Chambord, that's what I often use, it's really good for brambles
