The best trait zoroark has is that it brings value to every game, even if you dont pick it. The opponent still has to respect illusion options and it can be some funny mind games
I tried using it a ton at the start of Series 1. It was just a little too slow in most instances. You kind of needed to use it before TR went up or the turn it did, otherwise, they were just going to go all out that turn. It's why so many people deal with it by just double protecting. Trick Room in Gen 9 feels like you need to make the most of EVERY turn of Trick Room for the TR User and need to stall it out as much as possible for everyone else. I miss Gen 8 where I could use an After You Clefairy with super low speed and a Dynamax mon as my answer.
I was your game 2 opponent. I’m pretty new to VGC stuff but I’ve played singles for a long time. I was disappointed in my play against you but you for sure showed why you’re the pro and I’m not. My jaw dropped when I saw your name pop up on my screen; it was a cool experience. It was an honor playing you, GG. Also scarf Gholdengo feels pretty decent into the faster Flutter Mane+Bundle stuff along with Great Tusk and it can’t get spored; a bit surprised I haven’t seen more of it. QOTD: I’ve loved Mienshao for personal reasons and I always will.
Immunities to normal, ghost, fighting, plus tera into something else is such a cool concept. Wonder if opportunity cost will be too much though with mons like ursaluna coming in though
QOTD: Gen 5 has a lot of really cool designs (and a lot that are still competitively relevant even 4 generations later!) but my favorite is probably Chandelure. Between its horror-inducing dex entries and the blistering power of base 145 Special Attack, it swayed its flames up to my #1 spot. I actually have a similar love for all of the Ghost/Fire types. Just such a cool type combination.
QotD: Lilligant! I love her and I'm so glad that every time the regional dex includes her, she always sees at least some use due to how strong Torkoal is in a regional dex format. I'm excited to see how H-Lil performs once the HOME update drops.
I love this team. It's great how by the end you auto lock Zoroark into the first slot. ZoMimi is by far my favorite lead in VGC. Just started getting into it but Zo mind games are super fun!
This is team is SO COOL! Thank you for sharing this team and your thoughts while playing through some actual games. I really enjoy your insights and sportsmanship. 👍🎮
Oh that's fun, I've been experimenting with Zoroark for a while. I'm too new to the VGC scene to be able to do much against more knowledgeable/experienced players, so I figured it would be interesting to try and rely on an unknown factor. Zoroark is one of these mons, that can influence how your opponent plays, even if you don't bring it. It has a wide range of possible oneshots with either Choice Specs or Choice Scarf, and a fun support-y set I'm just excited to see you play this, I should watch the video, and then comment instead :D Edit: I see this is a sash - which is also intriguing. I found, that Choice Band just helps picking up so many oneshots anyways. Even Psychic Seed Indeedee, if you Tera Dark + Knockoff is in the cards if necessary
One thing I learned from watching you play this team is that I've always tried to use Zoroark as something that 4x resists its weaknesses, but from what you did I realize I was being too specific about it, it's so cool to learn how to effectively use some Pokémon! For example I would have used Illusion as Mimikyu instead of lead partner, and seeing how powerful the lead is really eye opening! I learned something today, maybe I'll give this team a try, Scizor is one of my favorite Pokémon too! Keep up the good content Aaron!! Your videos are both entertaining and something to learn from!
QOTD: I love Serperior! It’s my all-time favorite Pokémon, especially because of how it appears in the show with Trip I was also your opponent in Game 4! Was a fun battle and I was excited to see your name pop up. I got the team I was using through your video and have been winning a lot of games, thank you for the consistently good uploads and educational content. As someone who started vgc this generation they are super helpful :)
My first reaction to a disguised Zoroark blowing its cover is always "huh, didn't know this mon got Flamethrower." and other fun scenarios. It always takes me a second take to realize what happened and it's never not funny. My favorite Gen5 mon is between Trubbish, Archen, Druddigon and Mienshao. Trubbish because it's a cute bunny-looking trashbag combo, Mienshao was an instant fave back then because it looks so elegant. Archen, I like more than Archeops because it looks more "defined" to me than its evolution, which loses its characteristic beak AND becomes kind of plump. Druddigon, I like a lot because I think its color scheme looks kind of nice and because I like the head shape. Of the ones listed here, it's also the one I wanted to use competitively the most, but it just doesn't have the key tools to make any of it work imo. No Sheer Force STAB (no Dragon Rush after 4 generations is a crime), no good HP stat or recovery for Rough Skin bulk sets, it's just kinda sad. It's always lategame too, so I can't even really use it in the story. There's others I like as well, like Bouffalant, Basculin and Heatmor, but the above are a cut above the rest.
QOTD: it’s gotta be Zorua I have one that I named Derek and have Black Glasses and he’s too cool not to take everywhere Followup question: I look at the albums every video on the back wall! There are so many cool picks (Solange, Kaytranda, etc.) I was wondering if there was one in particular that you love! Thanks for all the wonderful content, Aaron :) my day isn’t complete without watching a Cybertron video
Looking forward to when Hisuian Zoroark is released. Partly because it’s typing is so interesting especially with Illusion and party because I caught a shiny one and think it looks so cool haha
I’m really excited for hisuian zoroark to be added to vgc. Ghost/normal is such a cool typing and the fact that you can disguise as something means you can disguise as something weak to fighting or ghost and bait those moves into your immunity
Zoroark disguised as Tseerna would be amazing. Makes opponent worry about queen's majesty ability but also will stop amongus trying to spkre it. Make it a special attacker with a fire move. Love your videos!
One of my best friend's favorite Pokemon is Zoroark, I'm sending her this video ASAP! These matches were so fun and your commentary is incredible as always. What an awesome and dynamic team! Thank you for all your hard work making these wonderful videos 💕 As for the QOTD, there are so many gen 5 Pokemon I love so this is tough, but I gotta go with Cofagrigus! 👻⚰
Hey Aaron I’ve been loving all the vids recently. I’ve been struggling with anxiety recently and I look forward to your daily uploads to help me forget about it.
My favourite Gen5 is Hydreigon and Excadrill! It doesn't hurt they're also both pretty good competitively. SUPER happy terastallizing made Hydreigon relevant once again.
11:00 - Sometimes Mimikyu is the least helpful when trying to gauge items like Choice Band. Disguise does have its drawbacks. Especially when the other mon isn't something you're used to.
QotD: Haxorus Wicked cool design, S tier shiny, monstrous attack and Mold Breaker, impressive move pool, all let down by being in an awkward speed tier. Now it's gotta sit back and watch another axe-based dragon succeed in competitive play. Someday my axy boi will make it, someday.
qotd: ide say chandelure. it has a cool design, including the shiny, and good base stats. it has a pretty bad defensive typing, with neither type covering for the others weaknesses. though if it was added to the gen 9 games that could be covered with tera. offensively its great, hitting every type for neutral or super effective with stab, and has alot of coverage. it has flash fire, which grants an immunity to fire, which would go well with steel tera, massively improving defenses, or if screens rise in popularity you can use infiltrator. It was already my favorite gen 5 pokemon, but typing this out makes me see its viability if added to gen 9 aswell
Curious whether it’s better to have Zoroak on a team with pokemon that have overlapping movepools, Meowscarada and Zororark both have knock off and sucker punch for example, so it’s harder to determine if it’s actually a zororark. It’s risky since by both being dark type they have overlapping weaknesses, but it’s something that can definitely get in the opponents head.
I love scolipede. Gen 5 was when they first decided bug types could be cool. Ofcorse volc is there but volc’ volc, its a freaking sun deity. But scolopede, they’re a common local menace. An AWESOME local menace. The first. Love them.
QotD: Zoroark. So I'm always happy seeing it in vgc. Can't wait for hisuian Zoroark to be playable in vgc. The fake-out and shadow tag mind games will be amazing.
QOTD: Cryogonal is my all time favorite Pokémon. It’s a surprisingly unique Pokémon, both design wise (it is just an icy snowflake, yet not just an icy snowflake at the same time), and battle wise (interesting stat spread [even if low defense isn’t good] and access to moves like Haze and Aurora Veil). I just wish it got a few more moves offensively. Flash Cannon can hit rock-type Pokémon, and Tera Blast can circumvent the issue a bit, but having consistent access to an electric or ground move while keeping the snow defense buff is something I desire. Particularly ground since Freeze-Dry is a fantastic move.
Back in gen 5 I only play singles. I ran infernape and Zoroark together. Infernape can learn a lot of the same moves so they might think it is mixed attack infernape. Plus infernape was an incredible lead on its own so it was really tricky
QOTD: (gosh there are so many I love, fav gen) close call but I think its gotta be Cofagrigus honorable mentions: Krookodile, Scolipede, Escavalier, Ferrothorn, Chandelure and Mandibuzz
My favorite gen 5 Pokémon is Lilligant, or Cinccino, or Ferrothorn, or Jellicent, or Amoonguss, or Cobalion, or Kyurem, or Victini, or Purrloin, or Darumaka, or Reuniclus, or Zorua, or Golurk, or Heidreigon. I can't decide AHHHHH so many awesome Pokémon designs
Zoroark not just my fav gen 5 Pokemon but my favorite Pokemon in general. Awesome design along a interesting twist to Kitsune lore? check, Illusion being one of the most fun abilities that brings in creative mind games ? Check. It having by far the most sickest regional variant we have in recent memory? Check. Overall Zoroark is awesome
Nice to see Zoroark being used again in VGC. As for QOTD: Emolga. Not only that it's my favorite pokemon, but it also serves my teams well as a support with moves like Nuzzle, Taunt and Encore, and occasionally can pack some offense as well.
Since this team possesses a Zoroark and Scyther evolution, do you anticipate a competitive prevalence for the various Hisuian forms when the Home update comes out?
Is there any way us viewers can share teams with you to "potentially" be used on your channel? I have this cool iron valiant team I'd like to show off that I hit top 3k in masterball with after only 2 months off playing VGC, all thanks to you Aaron! 😊
QOTD: Oh man, too many to count. I like a lot of them, though I actually dislike the starters. If I _had_ to pick a top two then it would be Excadrill and Cobalion - they were my MVPs the first time I cleared Black 2. But I will mention that Scoliopede was the first bug I saw since Scizor and Heracross that made me want to use it. Edit: Chandelure is a cute concept and I'm pleasantly surprised it came to be, forgot to mention that. Krookodile was the last MVP of my original Black 2 team because Intimidate cycling helped a lot more than I thought it would. And I should give shoutouts to Conkeldurr, Scrafty. and Bisharp; I started watching VGC around 2015 give or take and backtracked to 2014 content to understand what led to the upcoming year.
QOTD: Sigilyph. The defensive sets it has access to are so unique, and they fit the Pokémon very well. It pains me that Espathra is just a significantly more straightforward and snowball-y Sigilyph, though at least it's been banned to Ubers. It's not a real victory, but I'll have to take it for now.
QOTD: Krookodile is my favorite gen 5 Pokémon and favorite Pokémon in general. And I wish he was a lot better then he is, he gets outclassed as ground and dark because he’s not strong, fast, or bulky enough to be used over others. He doesn’t get any of the good dark type moves like sucker punch or knock off and garchomp outclasses it as ground type in every possible way. As much as I love Krookodile it’s hard it use him. Just Wish he was good
Hydreigon is probably my favourite gen 5 mon, Zoroark is also up there for me.. Hisuian Zoroark should be quite nice when it comes, a hard check to Annihilape with its natural typing
QOTD: Hydreigon. Amazing design and punny naming, great stats and movepool. Btw can you read Chinese characters at all? I notice you can spot Japanese Pokemon names but not the Chinese ones.
Favorite gen 5 Pokémon is definitely Zorua / Zoroark. They’re also my fav mons of all time so I guess it isn’t much of a competition lol. If I were to not include them, Samurott, Reuniclus, Reshiram, or Victini are the contenders
I feel like zoroark should be pretty decent in open team sheets. Where it can fool opponents into thinking they know what they are up against and essentially mess up their lead
The best trait zoroark has is that it brings value to every game, even if you dont pick it. The opponent still has to respect illusion options and it can be some funny mind games
Zoroark is seeing success in VGC, all is right in the world
yeah, i love that mon :D didnt expect zoroark to be used before Hisuian version is in Scarlet and Violet :D
Hisuian Zoroark completely walls Annihilape, so Zoroark was going to get uses in VGC anyways :3

Mimikyu being able to fairy tera curse against tr teams is honestly so cool
I tried using it a ton at the start of Series 1. It was just a little too slow in most instances. You kind of needed to use it before TR went up or the turn it did, otherwise, they were just going to go all out that turn. It's why so many people deal with it by just double protecting. I miss Gen 8 where I could use an After You Clefairy with super low speed and a Dynamax mon as my answer.
The most satisfying road to rank episodes for me are the ones where the niche/feature/non-meta mon is executed to perfection 👌🏽
Much respect for the content push lately. Been great content and I can tell you put a lot of your personal time into it, and I appreciate it
Thank you so much
QOTD: I’ve always loved Volcarona, getting Iron Moth and Slither Wing this gen was such a blessing. All 3 of them are great
I was your game 2 opponent. I’m pretty new to VGC stuff but I’ve played singles for a long time. I was disappointed in my play against you but you for sure showed why you’re the pro and I’m not. This is my favorite team displayed so far on the channel. Well done 🤝
I love this team. It's great how by the end you auto lock Zoroark into the first slot. ZoMimi is by far my favorite lead in VGC. Just started getting into it but Zo mind games are super fun!
Aaron it would be so nice to see you use a team that you create with Pokémon that you enjoy . Always enjoy your videos . Thank you
Now THIS is the content I subscribed for! Great work, Aaron
This is team is SO COOL! Thank you for sharing this team and your thoughts while playing through some actual games. I really enjoy your insights and sportsmanship. 👍🎮

Good guy cybertron, compliments outplays and smart moves. love to see it

QOTD: Crustle! I didn't play Gen 5, but I love Crustle in Unite. He's very speedy.
That turn 2 forfeit when the Annihilape got KO’d was so good
QOTD: I love Serperior! It’s my all-time favorite Pokémon, especially because of how it appears in the show with Trip
I was also your opponent in Game 4! Was a fun battle and I was excited to see your name pop up. I got the team I was using through your video and have been winning a lot of games, thank you for the consistently good uploads and educational content. As someone who started vgc this generation they are super helpful :)
The moment Hisuian Zoroark is added into the game, I can tell it’s going to be a menace
There are far bigger Hisuian threats like Kleavor, Ursaluna, the love weather thing, and h goodra
Hisuan Goodra is really a monster! I thought it was even slightly better than dialga with its signature move, which is insane 😂
@@Dune44 it has more uses so I guess that makes it better by default
My first reaction to a disguised Zoroark blowing its cover is always "huh, didn't know this mon got Flamethrower." and other fun scenarios. It always takes me a second take to realize what happened and it's never not funny.

zorua is actually my favorite pokémon so its really fun to see the line getting some competitive success
The Litwick line and the Snivy line have to be my favorite gen 5’s but zoroark is up there.
this is the best possible news I could wake up to. New Vcg vid and my fav pokemon being featured in it 🙌👏
Zoroark disguised as Tseerna would be amazing. Makes opponent worry about queen's majesty ability but also will stop amongus trying to spkre it. Make it a special attacker with a fire move.
Love your videos!
The zoroark girlies eating today aww yeah. Been using zoroark since series 1 so I'm so pumped to see some cores with him

Hey Aaron I’ve been loving all the vids recently. I’ve been struggling with anxiety recently and I look forward to your daily uploads to help me forget about it.

Always love to see underutilized Pokémon do well :>
Zoroark is my all time favorite! Love to see a way to make it work on VGC. Always wanted
Why did mimikyu faint @46:56? Life orb didn't have activate
This really makes me interested to see how Hisuian Zoroark performs once we get access to those mons.
QotD: Haxorus
Wicked cool design, S tier shiny, monstrous attack and Mold Breaker, impressive move pool, all let down by being in an awkward speed tier.
Now it's gotta sit back and watch another axe-based dragon succeed in competitive play. Someday my axy boi will make it, someday.
Zoroark Hype!!!
Heck, I was only halfway through the last episode when a Zoroark vid dropped. Sorry Iron Hands
Ahh that turn 1 RQ was sweet to behold xD
qotd: ide say chandelure. it has a cool design, including the shiny, and good base stats. it has a pretty bad defensive typing, with neither type covering for the others weaknesses. though if it was added to the gen 9 games that could be covered with tera. offensively its great, hitting every type for neutral or super effective with stab, and has alot of coverage. it has flash fire, which grants an immunity to fire, which would go well with steel tera, massively improving defenses, or if screens rise in popularity you can use infiltrator. It was already my favorite gen 5 pokemon, but typing this out makes me see its viability if added to gen 9 aswell
That knockout on Tera Iron Bundle was delicious
Very happy to see someone else using a zoroark team, surprised it’s attack and not special attacking. QOTD: Cofagrigus all the way
Is there any merit to an Imprison/Tera Blast Zoroark? I thought of that idea teambuilding and haven't seen anyone do that one.
Curious whether it’s better to have Zoroak on a team with pokemon that have overlapping movepools, Meowscarada and Zororark both have knock off and sucker punch for example, so it’s harder to determine if it’s actually a zororark. It’s risky since by both being dark type they have overlapping weaknesses, but it’s something that can definitely get in the opponents head.
ah that explains why I faced this team on ladder literally 2h ago, I was wondering who came up with it lmao
Hey, where are you seeing the top teams? I can't find any :\
Been playing this team it's so fun.
I am so confused with what happened to mimikyu ability causing it to die in the last battle
Y'all think body press Mudsdale has any untapped potential in this format? Ive had fun in previous games running Beat-Up with this 'mon
Back in gen 5 I only play singles. I ran infernape and Zoroark together. Infernape can learn a lot of the same moves so they might think it is mixed attack infernape. Plus infernape was an incredible lead on its own so it was really tricky
So, how this team deals With psychic terrain?
QOTD: (gosh there are so many I love, fav gen) close call but I think its gotta be Cofagrigus
honorable mentions: Krookodile, Scolipede, Escavalier, Ferrothorn, Chandelure and Mandibuzz
Serperior was easily my fav from gen 5. With its hidden ability it can be crazy strong after one leaf storm. 👌🏼
"This game is still far from over, so let's not get ahead of ourselves."
QOTD: Zekrom my fav legendary. looks cool and fun to use ;)
Favorite gen 5 Pokémon is probably krookodile but ferrarhorn and volocrona are awesome as well
And I had JUST started using a zoroark team of my own. Might already be time to train a new one, it seems this one is a lot more useful than mine...
QOTD: Probably Hydreigon. I can’t not love a three-headed Dark/Dragon pseudo.
Zoroark not just my fav gen 5 Pokemon but my favorite Pokemon in general. Awesome design along a interesting twist to Kitsune lore? check, Illusion being one of the most fun abilities that brings in creative mind games ? Check. It will be cool to see the new Zoroark someday too
When did they fix dragonites shiny?
QOTD: Oh man, too many to count. I like a lot of them, though I actually dislike the starters. Volcarona Fav Gen 5 Pokémon. It’s so cool I love it
somehow i have gone years and never seen shiny zoroark. pretty cool
Life orb mimikyu putting in the work
Reuniclus is my favorite from gen 5 as well as over all ❤
Hydreigon is probably my favourite gen 5 mon, Zoroark is also up there for me..
Hisuian Zoroark should be quite nice when it comes, a hard check to Annihilape with its natural typing
I love your music taste in the background ❤ what did you think of Kelela’s new album?
QOTD: Golurk has a special place in my heart. They learn the HM Fly so I wasn't forced into having an early flying type on my team.
Can’t wait for Hisuian Zoroark is legal! Somewhat of a bummer they “nerfed” its stats...
110 speed would’ve gone crazy
QOTD: Hydreigon. Amazing design and punny naming, great stats and movepool.
Btw can you read Chinese characters at all? I notice you can spot Japanese Pokemon names but not the Chinese ones.
My favorite Gen 5 Pokémon is also my favorite Pokémon in general, Volcarona!
QOTD: for me gen5 introduced the best looking pokemon out of any game, Samurott is my favorite gen5 and all time, cant wait to use him in gen9
How did this person get a shiny, 0 Attack IV sandy shocks? Is there some way to use a cheat module on the switch?
Zoroark is my friends favorite Pokémon; I’ll have to show him this video!
The majority of my favorite Pokémon are from gen 5, so here’s my top 5! Lilligant, Chandelure, Conkeldurr, Sigilyph, and Reuniclus!
Yo what are your thoughts on hisuian zoroark? I feel like it’s gonna be really funky!
I feel like illusion stocks go up in open team sheet.
seeing mimikyu without trick room is so weird to me LOL
