Photograph is a lowkey dope song on the album.. Especially how it speaks about the addiction of social media and being caught up with someone you've never seen.
I honestly think this is his best album. All of the songs do what they are made for, the bangers bang, the deep songs are deep, the chill songs are chill. He sticks to the theme(s) all of the way through and has a consistent sound. Once an Addict is also probably my favorite Cole song just because of how exact and relatable it is to my life. I set my expectations high and he went above it.
When taking in account the beats & the lyrics & the themes & the overall concept(s), it’s his best (to me, longtime fan), but, mainly, it’s his most important, due to the message.
Music is poetry. It’s up to our minds to interpret each song. I never get bored listening to this album because each time I listen I hear something new that blows my mind. He’s up there with the greatest.
Drake make songs to please white people and the higher ups to put in on the radio Drake is terrified to say anything like what J said in brackets friends
it might be a reach, but anybody else think that the little girl on window pain is also the little girl on ville mentality. not only that, but what are the chances that the little girl is the daughter of j. cole's friend that was killed.
Everytime I listen to the album it doesnt feel like im listening to 12 songs, but rather one short story with 6 parts to it. I can listen to the whole album without skipping any song at all, more than 4YEO, but I guess its because I can relate to this album more as a Kid On Drugs, trying to Kill my Own Demons before I see my Kings Overdosed.
Friends was so impactful especially the line about Depression/ Mental Health in the black community and how we can't talk about it and be taken seriously I stg that shit really hit my heart y'all .
I love all of J Cole’s music, flow, lyrics! He’s to me one of the most realist rappers in our generation! At first I wasn’t too hyped when I heard the album, but damn he went IN!!! Thank you for the breakdown! Much appreciated and much support to one of the greatest rappers alive today!
he also references tupac himself, using the last bar “from the concrete he was probably rose” which references tupac’s poem, “The Rose That Grew From Concrete”
That's why on the intro of ATM it saids "Life can cause you much pain, There are many ways to deal with this pain, Choose wisely" So KOD had 3 options as per Cole and we gotta choose wisely what does it mean.
Easily the best Album to date.....Cole exceeded my expectations, because when I first saw it I was like how can this compete with 4 Your Eyes Only but then when I listened to the last set of songs I was blown away and still have the album on repeat.
Tha is for sharing your perspective on this album. I'm still digesting the album myself and I think it's amazing to see J. Coles growth as an artist. Honestly I love this current J. Cole cause he's being real to himself now. He ain't doing it for the money, he's doing it because he feels the need to address issue from his POV, and purely as an artist. People who dont rock with it need to give it another chance cause the album is great.
Great video, but Edward was his step dad and he says that he looked up to him and developed the same qualities. So when he said kill Edwards was him trying to quit those habits
In atm he basically talked about how money cause people to go into debt and do all sorts of things When we know we need it for rent Also not to let money be the death of us And in the end he got the dollar bill but he died chasing it
Great song reviews. A few things I noticed when I was listening. - The album starts with the Kids on Drugs and then interpolstes with King Overdosed on a few tracks then nearing the end turns into Kill Our Demons, telling the youth to stop or at least chill out on the drug usage. - I don't wanna pull this trigger but I have to because I immediately noticed it. This album shares similarities with DAMN for me, this is in no way a bad thing but the trap production and lyrical flow in the beginning of the albums songs is in the same vein although not the same. Also the counter message of the typical production, seems like he's bragging which brings in the masses but he's actually giving a lesson. - Very clever that he put this on 4/20. I can imagine the amount of fans that couldn't wait to get home, light a j then when it gets to "friends" feel bad😂😂😂 *cough* me *cough* it made me rethink about addiction as a whole for a bit. Did it stop me from ever having mj again...no. But he is mainly talking to the young rappers who promote drugs destructively. (This is what I tell myself now if I'm listening to friends to sleep at night😂) - I'm dumb as a bag of bricks, I didn't even put Kevin's heart with Kevin Hart😑 maybe I should stop the mj. I like the album a lot on first listen, and I hope people don't overlook it as it may seem preachy or him saying drugs r bad. He says himself that he smokes weed in the album and never said he quit (he could be speaking from the perspective of one of the kids but he's an honest guy). This album hasn't made me get up, stand up, look at the sun with the wind blowing in my face and claim I quit and dramatically throw away grass, I think it did one better and made me look at addiction and pain as a whole. You will always get addicted to something because we are creatures of habit, but it's up to you to pick something constructive to get addicted to like meditation, excercise instead of destructive substances like alcohol, xanax, other hard drugs and I have to say it or I'm not being real, excessive amounts of mj. (Now go light a j and read this again😉🔥🍁)
TriBe Crucial yeah😂😂that doesn't mean J. Cole is better but I personally can relate more to Cole than Eminem but Eminem is obviously ONE OF THE GREATS IN MOST PEOPLE'S LISTS
People pay really close attention to this album, and the subliminal messages in the back.pictures they put on the art work just notice this the more l look at this the things I’m finding crazy 👁
idk bro the timeline is messed up somewhere. If you listen closely KOD sounds like it fits perfectly after Born Sinner cause you can hear ‘Lil Cole’ more mature on KOD. Take into account that while he was in NY around that Born Sinner era he had all the jewels and diamonds which he lowkey hated. FHD definitely was the end album IMO, and 4YEO is the “lost file” cause when Cole said “and this album remains locked in a hard drive like valuable jewels.” With the passing of his friend he HAD to drop 4YEO. But let’s backtrack a bit... Cole has a set of horns and a halo. For albums, Demon Cole gave us Born Sinner and Halo Cole gave us everything else. Demon Cole is alive and well all over KOD. Except... J. Cole placed “Mature Simba” into today’s society and it fits perfect and a bonus for Cole is that he knew/knows many people who suffered from addiction of drugs. As for now drugs are reallllllly getting outa control. He probably smoked weed before a couple times so he does have a first hand experience of being high on a level
3 threezy Maybe he does things because he knows it'll create attention and controversy, and I'm not saying that he isn't an attention thirsty person, but its not like he has some grand master plan to exploit the shitty priorities of the average hip hop listener. He's like the class clown who learned that doing something stupid or cruel or loud got the most laughs and most attention.
Although I like Brackets and I agree the only problem I see though with being able to pick where your money is spent a lot of programs and things needed would go non funded due to that reason alone people choosing where they want their money to go. Dope Album!!! Dope analysis!
fuck yessssssssss exactly how I felt when I first heard it. Fucking love it! And the thing about what the little girl said is VERY true... Energy has already been in place for a while... Everyone should really educate themselves. Thank you for this video!!
If people could decide the taxes then the rich would get together and they would have more power. If even a few of them get together they can push for anything in the country. It wouldn't be ran by the people, it would be ran by the rich. Moreover the rich usually want to get more rich.
Photograph is a lowkey dope song on the album.. Especially how it speaks about the addiction of social media and being caught up with someone you've never seen.
garnet vanterpool bro the production alone on that song man smh 🔥 i can never make it past that track
Dorian's RANDORIAN vlog place specially cause he took slumpgod flow and murdered it !
Damn right photograph is a dope song
J cole and Kendrick need to make and Album!!!! They would break records.
Ivan Davon imagine them eliminating all mumblers taking over😏
10x platinum easy + a tour they would make like at least 30 mill each on the first year
EVRL
💯💯💯!!
Ivan Davon Nope Kendrick is too good for J Cole. Black Friday is proof
"Just remember what I said when your shit flops in 5 years you gonna be on love and hip-hop" that was the best way to end his album that bar is just 🔥
I honestly think this is his best album. All of the songs do what they are made for, the bangers bang, the deep songs are deep, the chill songs are chill. Not the best, but the best message.
When taking in account the beats & the lyrics & the themes & the overall concept(s), it’s his best (to me, longtime fan), but, mainly, it’s his most important, due to the message.
Idk I personally like Born Sinner better lyrically, but I can understand.
Cryptotic I think so too but for now I still have 2014 above. Got to sit a little more with this personally.
This album is craY man to early to say
Music is poetry. It’s up to our minds to interpret each song. I never get bored listening to this album because each time I listen I hear something new that blows my mind. He’s up there with the greatest.
J cole is way better than drake
Thank god that somebody believes that too
Uh duh
The sky is blue
Drake make songs to please white people and the higher ups to put in on the radio Drake is terrified to say anything like what J said in brackets friends
Can drake do
What kendrick do
Not my line .....
it might be a reach, but anybody else think that the little girl on window pain is also the little girl on ville mentality. not only that, but what are the chances that the little girl is the daughter of j. cole's friend that was killed.
Joshua Ogunde That would be hella deep
Nina
Holy fucking shit it could be Nina
Joshua Ogunde pretty sure Cole confirmed 4 your eyez was for Nina. Nothing connecting her with window pain yet but you might be on to something there.
I thought it sounded like a little boy to me 🤷🏾♂️
Bro, again. Your content is always going to live on!!! Doing some research and Google brought me here!!
Legendary appreciate it ❤️
the lyrics hit hard. they're facts that most people cant argue against, all the while hopefully opening some eyes.
The Baj i can argue against the white people that listen to rap wanna be black line. That’s pretty ignorant
Won Tr!be eh, thats actually arguably.
I was initially on the fence about buying this album, but now I am sold. Thank you my good sir
Everytime I listen to the album it doesnt feel like im listening to 12 songs, but rather one short story with 6 parts to it. Yep. Window Pain made me cry a little bit.
Yes man...it just hits too hard
One of the very few rappers in this day that do the game proud. Where do much main stream music is crap, he makes rap worth listening too.
This album is fire...
Maaaaaaaannnnnn people are sleeping on this album harder than 4YEO
Agreed they sleeping but rude awakenings happen for a reason
Friends was so impactful especially the line about Depression/ Mental Health in the black community and how we can't talk about it and be taken seriously I stg that shit really hit my heart y'all .
Lanier Burton uhh yea we can talk about that today, and people do wtf😂
Second half of the album got my eyes wide open.

Jay's Music Album of the year
he also references tupac himself, using the last bar “from the concrete he was probably rose” which references tupac’s poem, “The Rose That Grew From Concrete”
Track 7 to 12 is waaayyy better than the first half. He’s soooo right.🔥🔥🔥
J.cole is just point blank amazing. I wish I had skills like that man😭💗. I'm so happy he music exists in this day and age!
My favorite tracks has to be Window Pain and 1985
Kevin's heart is #7 on the tracklist as it deals with one of the 7 deadly sins
1.7k likes 42 dislike. that's how you get it done homie.
Great album. Definitely going to be a top hip hop album for me
ruclips.net/video/dy4dBYPR5IE/видео.html IM SPITTIN FACTS LIK BRA FUK WIT ME
This is such a good review and you definitely should do more videos like this bro
That's why on the intro of ATM it saids "Life can cause you much pain, There are many ways to deal with this pain, Choose wisely"
So KOD had 3 options as per Cole and we gotta choose wisely what does it mean.
OMGGG yessss
Easily the best Album to date.....Cole exceeded my expectations, because when I first saw it I was like how can this compete with 4 Your Eyes Only but then when I listened to the last set of songs I was blown away and still have the album on repeat.
hip hop is really deep

TPAB is the goat and deserved the credit it got but for the industry to give no flowers to Kod on its message
Killing our Demons sounds most appropriate
J Cole the GOAT

Big Sean, drake (Even though I don't necessarily care for Drake)
Deep - Big sean ft. Lil wayne

Great video, but Edward was his step dad and he says that he looked up to him and developed the same qualities. So when he said kill Edwards was him trying to quit those habits
This is cool style of video! You should do this more often
shallow interpretation but yeah you got the idea. And you skipped over photogragh, the cut off and ATM which were good too.
Yeo i don’t understand why people saying they don’t like atm
In atm he basically talked about how money cause people to go into debt and do all sorts of things
When we know we need it for rent
Also not to let money be the death of us
And in the end he got the dollar bill but he died chasing it

3 threezy Maybe he does things because he knows it'll create attention and controversy, and I'm not saying that he isn't an attention thirsty person, but its not like he has some grand master plan to exploit the shitty priorities of the average hip hop listener. Absolutely Brilliant. That whole Project is Excellent.
