looks nice, how do u dry the pieces do u cover them. cuz i dry mine covered for 2 or 3 days then i let it dry uncovered for the rest of the week but the handles always crack no matter what.
You’re right to dry them slowly and covered with plastic. Maybe the cracks on the handles are from making the actual piece - when attaching the handle, make sure to score the surfaces properly and apply some slip/ water (slip is a watered down clay with a paste consistency, it acts as a glue). Add the handle onto the mug quite firmly without distorting, let it sit for a minute or two for the slip to get into all the scored marks, and then blend the handle to the mug. I hope this helps!
For this one I used underglaze for the colour and a clear glaze for the glossy finish. Otherwise you do get some beautiful color glazes. Have a look on Clay King, they have everything you need for ceramics available online! You can also use codes Wendy5 for $5 off orders over $50 and Wendy10 for $10 off orders over $100 - the color glazes I use are Amaco Potters Choice (they’re a brush on glaze)
Once the piece is dry I take it in to a pottery shop where they glaze (the stuff that makes it food safe and glossy) and fire it for me. The clay is soft and can join to each other nicely without needing glue - to help it stick you must score the surface and add a bit of slip (water and clay mix) or water☺️
Yes it is. The glazing makes it food safe. I use stoneware clay which is more durable for uses such as mugs and plates etc. Air dry or oven bake clay is not food safe

But how did the depth of the cup become so pure? What did you use? + What makes the dough stick together? I'm a beginner
