Really enjoying the videos. I am resurrecting a sunfish that hasn't seen the light of day in almost 25 years. Look forward to launching this gem, hopefully this weekend. Worth mentioning, I had the most fun meeting you, Bob, and other sunfish sailors when I helped host Worlds and US Nationals at Midwinters in Clearwater in 2022. The sailors were so much fun! I hope we get to host this regatta again. Who knows, maybe I will register this time!
I am really enjoying your sunfish vids....especially the tips n tricks! I do not race, but i do enjoy getting informed knowledge on what works and what doesn't when modifying or adding to a sunfish. There just is not many good videos on sunfish sailboats that go beyond "This is how you set up a sunfish or This is how you sail a sunfish is high winds". I'm 53 years old and getting reviews on equipment and tricks to make a nice "leisurely" sail better is what i'm all about! thanks for the time and hard work.
Cheers to Bob, Lake Michigan can kick up! I have a 1964 Sunfish I think. No HIN on transom, just a small serial # on a tag up by the mast. I like his invention using the hog crimps. Lol
I'm definitely stealing the daggerboard retainer bungee idea. I'm also intrigued by the block in the stern ( On the traveler, right?) would that help the sail slide easier in order to get a fuller shape to bring the to the corner of the boat?

Thanks a lot Scott! I truly appreciate the detailed comment and will try to make more content that fills the voids where you are talking about. :).
Love the minimalistic equipment - money doesn't buy speed.
True, unless you’re sailing some big boats. :).
Pure gold! More Bob please!
Bob is a treasure.

He is the man!
Interesting how the Sunfish continues. Sailed them when I was in Highschool, 1968. Do they still make wooden ones?
Hey woody! No wooden sunfish hulls are being made…
Can we buy one of his dagger board holders? That's a great idea!
Hey Jason- Enail bob, at bob@suntracker.com
Mention you saw the video!
His boom and sail were surprisingly low in front, maybe 6 inches off the deck. Is this typical for big wind racing?
Its typical for all sunfish racing these days. Back in the 70a. The sails were higher
Thanks for sharing! Keep up the good work!!👍
Thank you. !!
Is that a digital compass installed on the splash guard?
Yes it is.

the block probably would travel easier... not sure abou the effect on sail shape though..
Is he still using that blown out old sail?
Yup
what a beast
he won countless regattas and regionals, too...
