- Plan the ultimate weekend getaway to St. Thomas, Ontario with this 2-day itinerary! Located about a 20-minute drive south of London, Ontario, St. Thomas was founded in 1881 and was an important railway junction. Its location made it the primary stop along the Canadian shortcut between Detroit and Buffalo, and grew to see 26 railways pass through during the 19th and 20th century, thus earning the name Railway Capital of Canada.
Today, the trains no longer pass through St. Thomas but its railway heritage is woven into the culture of the city and is proudly on display. From historic buildings to green spaces, friends, families, and especially railway aficionados will all enjoy a weekend visit.

Thank you Sherri! Appreciate the kind words 😊
@@seeusoontravel first time viewer with roots in St. Thomas early 1910s. So much for ONE weekend of walking tours lol
You got your facts a like wrong. The railway DOES still pass through St. Thomas. Certainly not to the extent it used to, but both Canadian National and the Ontario Southland Railway still come into town.
True they do occasionally, but nothing close to the volume St Thomas once saw.
Excellent video, thank you Arienne.
Thank YOU!!
Great video! I grew up in St. Thomas and moved away over 50 years ago. But I will need to visit again to see some of the places you highlighted.
Thanks Walter! I’d be curious to hear what’s changed and what hasn’t if you make that return visit.
Thanks! Glad you are back!

Visited St Thomas a couple of times as I have friends that live there, I think I need to sort another trip out there after seeing this lol. Although it's probably changed lots since I was last there (around 2004-2005).

Hi Arienne. Thanks for your video, it helps...but I expected you to tell something about Lake Erie which is nearby?
Thanks Jacek! I’ve got other episodes in the series that focus on towns located right on the shores of Lake Erie that you can check out - Kingsville, Amherstburg and LaSalle. I’ll have another episode coming out later this year from a town on Lake Erie too 😊
@@seeusoontravel Cool. Sounds good. We are still looking for a nice place to move from Poland. I was many times in London ON, because we have family there. But finally, we are still huge fans of water's areas :)
I wish you more good movies !
Cheers
You missed Legends. Best chicken wings in Canada are there. 👀
Ngl I’ve lived here my entire life and it sucks stinky dog doo doo and this video is only like 20% truthful
Music is horrible.
Aw shucks Berni
@@seeusoontravel Sorry, I meant to say any music laid over talking is horrible. Video with just talking would have been good. Listening to music is enjoyable. The two don't mix.
Looks like Dairy main 😂🤡
