- It's #MoMonday!
This viewer question comes from Michael Patrick Heiligenmann Jr. where he asks, "Should bowlers look for certain RG and Diffs according to how they bowl when choosing a bowling ball?"
Mo Pinel has your answer and you will also be getting a Mo Monday tshirt for your contribution!
Tune in next week!
#WOWThatsRadical #RadicalRevolution
Hi Mo! Keep up the youtube uploads! It's like Saturday morning cartoons again. Waiting all week for that bowling knowledge fix. I wish Mo Mondays were every day!
Love Mo Mondays! I've watched all of these videos hundreds of times lol. Can't wait for all the shops to open back up and hopefully drill a Results
Agree 100%. . I pre ordered my Results, but hadn't had a chance to get it drilled yet.
You just saved me Hundreds of Dollars by stumbling across your videos. You changed my outlook on drilling and buying balls
RIP, MO, you are truly missed.😢
Radical to the rescue: all you gotta do is read. I really love the drilled specs for layouts. Keep up the good work!
Yes! No Monday’s... I love it!!!
Mo Monday's make the week. Unfortunately our centers are closed indefinitely around here.
Is it possible that we can see a comparison video of the max flip, versatile, smooth and short pin layouts?? Any radical ball would be great?
Okay, but even with the numbers of the drilled ball, do certain ranges or ratios work better for different types of bowlers? Or does it not really matter and we should be picking the ball that works best in that scenario?
in my own experience playing as well as in the shop, it seemed to come down to what fits that player on a given condition. Yes certain layout specs seem to work better, mostly, for different style players, but there really isn't a one-to-one correspondence of layout specs to a style of player.
Guess I'm suggesting that it's the same as the "old days" of using different layouts & balances holes to give the ball a type of roll. Leverage, pin-up/down and everywhere in between. It's about setting up the layout to allow the player to play a lane condition a specific way.
So basically, my experience says no, there is no layout which all crankers should use, no layout for strokers, croakers or between-the-leggers.
Should add that each style player will have layouts they tend to favor. Even more so for less versatile players.
I would start with your ball that just rolls perfect for you. See what those numbers are. Then build from there. Have a ball that hooks faster. You would get a ball with a Lower RG or Higher intermid Diff.
If you want to get a ball that hooks slower than you favorite bench mark ball. Get a ball that has a higher RG and Lower intermid Diff.
If your favorite ball is a Symetrical ball your only option is to get another symetrical ball with a higher RG. Then you would add surface after that to Further slow down tha speed at which it hooks. If it uses all its hook before it hits the pins but you need the surface. You would need a ball that has more diff to give you more hook time. That's how everything connects with one another
Depends on if you are a high axis tilt or low axis tilt. If low. Med to high diff balls will roll.better for you. If you are high then low rg works better. From what i inderstand.
Great video. Say I have a ball that is no longer produced. I love the way the ball go down the lane. What is the best way to replicate the older ball? It seems balls are stronger and even stronger now-a-days.
wow that question opened a huge can of worms. From the type of core to cover stock and the way it is drilled. But keep in mind lane conditions have changed over the years too. But the drill makes a lot of difference the further the pin is drilled from your PAP the more hook and later hook. The closer you drill the milder and earlier it will break. If you do a close pin drill on the most aggressive reactive ball you can find it will roll early and smoother like a older urethane ball. But even better because urethane balls cause a lot of carry down and will break a lane down faster than any other ball. It is one of the reason reactive resin is better. pearl cover stocks tend to run down later further before breaking and so does balls with Asymmetric cores. Talk to a pro shop have them find YOUR own PAP and mark it. You can get a symmetric to spin up faster and they break a bit sooner. Work with your pro shop have them watch you bowl and measure your PAP before doing anything. If some one never has seen you bowl and says you need this ball drilled this way then run. Because two people can throw the exact same one ball that is drilled to go long and snap hard for a high rev player and then hardly move for the low rev player because the pin is closer to their PAP. My wife is a lower rev than me by a lot but her ball still moves and she has a real nice down and in. Now we have the almost exact same hand size as each other so she can thro my ball and it only move 5 boards where I can cover 25 or more with the same ball. So my strongest ball moves less than her medium to light oil ball that she plays the outsides with because are positive access points are different. I hope it is not to confusing and helps you or someone else. That is why it is important to go you a pro that wants to watch you first and knows what they are doing. Anyone can drill 3 holes in a ball spaced out right for your fingers to fit but putting them in the right place to match your rev rate and speed to make the ball match your style bowling is totally different.
Wish more brands did this
Ok assuming we look in the box or on the website, how do we choose an RG & Diff. By selecting a ball with more RG, what change should we expect to see on the lane? How about less RG, more or less Diff? Under what conditions do we get the opposite results from what is usually expected? Most people are stuck with “but it and try it”. That is great for ball manufactures but it stinks for “the working man”
Check out JR Raymond videos or bowlerx. He explains all of this
RG is how fast it hooks. Diff is how long its hooking for
Like Torque on a car is the Pull and the HP is how long its Pulling for.
The longer tha oil pattern. and the Quicker the recovery you need. The lower RG is gonna help along with higher intermid Diff.
Intermid Diff can do the same thing as an RG. If you raise the intermid Diff numbers high enough.
Thus how easy would it be to knock you over if you were bent over compared to standing straight up. Weather you were standing straight up or bent over would be the inter Diff.
Thats why its has a bigger impact on hook speed than RG. But combine the 2 it can get way crazier and faster than the Illegal 2.45 RG on the OG Gamebreaker. You can also speed up the hook speed with polish. So there really is no sense in making low rg balls for hook speed because you can change it Soo many ways!!! =D
The shorter the pattern and tha slower the hook you need to match up with the amount of Friction that's out there you will need Higher RG and Lower intermid Diff
I have a question about layouts. I know different balls flare so much but if we want the ball to flare only a certain amount do we use a pin to pap to cut down on flare to what we want or do we just go with a layout?
Mo what is Radicals most versatile bowling ball for a 41ft THS
I love my counter attack
Thank you mo. Fuckin genius. If I don’t use grips and I drill pin down in relation to my pap. I’m probably not drilling enough mass to make a significant change to the diff.
Should bowlers have in their arsenal 2 Sym ( pin up & pin down ) and 2 Asym ( pin up & pin down )?
the sound is not good I am quite disappointed
🙄🙄🙄
