    Probably the best fracking video I've seen as far as concise details and clarity. Well done!

      Still Fearmongering with truth....

      The Sierra Club may have exaggerated in this video, but it's mostly truthful - NOT fearmongering! Fracking is bad for the environment. One of many problems is that it consumes a lot of water. Water continues to become increasing scarce. During periods of drought, most of California ran low on water. In Texas, some towns ran out of water! These little videos are SO WELL DONE! This is EXACTLY what we need more of to make this information have the emotional impact it deserves and the accessibility all people deserve. I'm so proud of y'all! WE WILL move beyond this! WE WILL achieve 100% clean renewable energy! We will save human civilization and the majority of species, and we will live in harmony with the Earth. Goddess Guide us!

    DR. Sandra Steingraber, biologist who has worked as a public health advocate on issues such as breast cancer and toxic incinerators stated “Fracking is the worst thing I’ve ever seen.” She went on to explain how people in the public health sector started to notice long ago the potential health risks and feels that they have a moral imperative to raise the alarm as those risks have turned into human harms and people are getting sick. www.birthdefects.org/the-harms-of-fracking/

    I love how this video absolutely leaves out the fact about cement casings that prevent under water contamination. They drill over 10,000+ feet deep that's just short of 2 miles. Under ground water is around 1,000-2,000 ft down.
    Cement casing is injected in the well bore both around under ground water and along the actual full dept breach. It's videos and stupidity like these videos that misinform people who have no knowledge of the oil and natural gas industry.

      The fundamental problem is that the Sierra Club is turning into an anti-science/anti-technology organization under Michael Brune, who was hired as executive director in 2010. Brune is trying to turn Sierra Club into a Greenpeace-like organization that does not care about scientific accuracy, integrity and excellence.
      Brune does not understand what conservation and environmental stewardship is and Sierra Club's videos and messaging reflect a all-propaganda all the time approach to organizational operations. The video and its graphic images are full of errors and distortions.
      Sierra Club last year catastrophically lost an air pollution litigation case in Texas that should have never been filed....and incurred a 6.4 million attorney fee award by a Texas judge for frivolous litigation when Sierra Club pursued an indefensible litigation case against a bankrupt electric utility and their coal fired power plants.
      Michael Brune and Sierra Club are promoting a legislative hoax called the BREATHE Act that amends the Clean Air Act....however they don't tell the public that this legislative bill would cause a massive, national deregulation of existing hydrogen sulfide emission regulation by rendering all such H2S emission limitations as federally unenforcable by EPA and by citizen plaintiffs....a tremendous attack on communities and environmental justice that is part of an organized lying campaign trying to claim that the oil and gas industry is exempt from the Clean Air Act....a complete lie by Brune and Sierra Club.

    This is everything BUT the truth! There are so many holes in this film... I don't know where to start.... 30+ states and many foreign countries use this tremendous technological advance every single day! I don't see any of them stopping despite the exaggerated non-substantiated claims in this video.... You should be ashamed of yourselves for fearmongering!

    Even WindMills and SolarPanels are not good for birds and wildlife.
    How about generating energy when you are riding your bike to work or spinning and create a battery to store the energy to be transferred back to the grid?

    • @donrussell8889
      @donrussell8889 6 лет назад

      how about you getting real? all that stuff wont provide even 10% of our energy needs. Instead, talk about getting rid of 90% of our worthless military, stopping the dope war, getting rid of the illegals. with the 2 trillion $ per year that you save by doing so, you can do LOTS of experimenting at what works best. The only real answer, tho, is to pay as of yet childless women, everywhere, to get sterilized. All this crap comes from having 10x too many people for the Earth to give them a decent living.

      solar panels can be installed in space and power can be sent to our planet wirelessly with enough innovation, but without enough engineers trying to study that then it will never happen. You're very negative

    Fracking is the cause of the homeless crises because the micro surface quakes are destroying the foundations of buildings in a much bigger area as currently thought and admitted by the operators. The vibration also erode shore lines and cause cracks on highways!!!

    Good video, but I think you need to address the perception that fracking is helping to lower fuel prices which in turn is powering our economy. Thanks.

    Yes wind and solar we need and should have a big place in energy planning, but Sierra Club makes it sound like they are 100% clean/green. Mining and manufacturing of panels and wind turbines uses water, requires mining, creates toxic waste and has a land use footprint-so please stop selling it like it is a pure solution. To go 100% wind how many miles of coast for wind farms and how many mountain tops will you need-LOTS.

    • @bammi43
      @bammi43 9 лет назад +1

      You are absolutely correct in your statement, and I want to make that clear from the very beginning that I agree with you. However, there are several things that need to be considered in "clean/green" renewable energy vs traditional fossil fuels. I will start off with this quote:
      "Renewable energy[referring to solar panels specifically], by definition, is inexhaustible or, at least, it can tap the sun's energy for times that can be considered infinite from our viewpoint. However, renewable energy doesn't live of sun alone. It needs metals, semiconductors, ceramics and more. A criticism often leveled against renewable energy is that it is not really "renewable" because it uses elements which exist in limited amounts and cannot be recycled.
      The question is complex and it depends on the kind of energy we are considering. For instance, in the case of solar cells, some use exotic and rare materials such as gallium or tellurium. However, the standard version on the market uses almost exclusively silicon and aluminum for the cell. The only rare element in it is silver for the back contact, but it can be eliminated with minimal or no loss. In several other cases of renewable technologies, rare metals are not used or can be efficiently recycled." -Posted by Ugo Bardi from his blog: Resource Crisis (cassandralegacy.blogspot.com/2014/11/renewable-energy-does-it-need.html)
      He (I assume by the name) makes a very good point that renewable energy is still a process and that there are a variety of ways to manufacture the components used in solar panels for example. But the tough decision for green activist is, is it better to have renewable energy sources with a SUBSTANTIALLY smaller impact on the environment, climate, or people then traditional fossil fuels and the answer is overwhelmingly, YES!
      Once the materials for renewable energy is use, that's it. If you have one solar panel grid vs a coal plant or worse a nuclear plant or fracking site; new material do not have to be dug up or used, the solar panels are reusable, therefore their "renewable" energy status. One solar panel grid requires the use of minerals once and usually do not have to be repaired or replace for at least 30 years. Unlike traditional methods that require constant use of fossil fuels to generate electricity, fuel our automobiles, constant use of rare/non-rare minerals, the health risks to people, plus the amount of greenhouse gases that are being produced by those methods and the pollution to our ozone layer, water, and soil; it is definitely the better more rational option. Greenpeace does a great job of summarizing the benefits of renewable energy:www.greenpeace.org/international/en/campaigns/climate-change/energyrevolution/renewable-energy-myths/
      Yes, I wish that current renewable energy sources are 100% clean/green (which they are not) but they truly are the best that we have and frankly we really need them and fast. But industry is a process and as we transition, newer and better ways to create cleaner/greener energy will become available. Take a look at what Harvard is doing, ORGANIC batteries: www.seas.harvard.edu/news/2014/01/organic-mega-flow-battery-promises-breakthrough-for-renewable-energy
      i hope this finds you well, and hope you have a nice day and happiness follows you wherever you go.
