you're so organized! I track books I read on GR and StoryGraph, but I am terrible at keeping up with my physical library log. I am pretty good at selecting books that I end up loving, so my books pretty well tend to be a reflection of my taste. I enjoy having a large library, and historically I've been a rereader. However, I have a lot of books on my shelves that I've grown out of, and some books that have been gifts that I read and didn't love as much as I thought I would. Planning an unhaul for the end of summer as my bookstore is running a "Blind Date with a Book" Fundraiser so I need them for that. Also have maxed out on space so that's a bit of a problem- I literally have stacks everywhere as my shelves are full and I need to unhaul to shelve what I have.
I use a spreadsheet to track all my physically owned books, ebooks I own, audiobooks I listen to, books I request, and arcs I reads! Love seeing other people’s spreadsheets.
this was so satisfying!! i love keeping track of my unread books in a spreadsheet too so it was cool to see how you did yours! i find deleting a book from the spreadsheet equally as satisfying as taking it off my shelves - there's just something about seeing that total number go down that i love!
I really don't know whether or not I want to try the ones we're meant to find. I never really gelled with V.E. Schawb unfortunately and have decided to not continue reading their books :( I still kept illuminae but never felt like continuing the series so I have. Happy the Rogerson is being unhauled as they are being replaced :D
This was great to watch, Ashleigh, and I really like how you log every single book you own on GR. I regularly unhaul books and do it at least 2-3 times per year. I find it very cleansing and good for my mental health to get rid of books I have no interest in or books I did not particularly enjoy. I do agree with you - I want my bookshelves to reflect my reading tastes so those which do not fit this criteria sadly have to go…in fact I feel another one coming on shortly 😅📝
I love your determination. I can easily unhaul most fiction easily but middle grade and YA I struggle with. But part of that is because I have a 17yo and grandkids that are 7 and 5 so I think they may want to read some day. I am also fairly careful about what I purchase so I don’t end up with too many to unhaul and I use the library a lot.
I only recently started building my physical collection again, and I'm already being quite brutal. 3 stars? You're gone. Even if it is a very pretty book. (That part is a little difficult, not going to lie. But I will get pretty books I love in the future!)
Loved the video! Sometimes unhauling is so satisfying. It's hard for me to unhaul books, but as my bookshelf isn't the largest it is needed sometimes. Also, LOVE your sweater 😍
Does this count? 🤣 I do big unhauls probably seasonally. I'm like you- I don't like having books that I'm not particularly fond of. If I read the book (or try to read the book) and it's a hard no, then it'll immediately be removed from my organizational sites and go into a pile to give away or sell back. If it got higher than a 3-star rating, I'll usually hold onto it. But! When it comes to Big Unhaul Time, it'll probably go away then. And I think it's great to see another person who is as organized about their books as I am! I use Goodreads the same way, and I have a Google Drive spreadsheet that keeps track of every book that has passed through my hands (since October 2015). That way I don't accidentally buy a book I had already DNF'd. It also keeps track of books I borrow from KU or the library. You should see the ritual I have between books! 😅
Unhaul videos are some of my favorites to watch, but I have never done one myself. I just got my library and books at the end of last year, so I'm still reading what I got. However, obviously, unhauls are coming at some point. I hope I'm not too disappointed in what I unhaul, though. I already have books to unhaul, but will wait to find books to replace those before getting rid of them. I think I will be selling what I unhaul because I can't afford to just throw away books because they're not good. Also not wanting to donate them because the place near me is not that great and I feel like either they don't put the good books on display or someone comes in the second they're on the shelves and takes them home. I want more people to have a chance to read them. Hope you have a great weekend. Today is a great day for me because not only is it Friday and Colby Sharp posted his Kid Lit Mail video this morning, but Jade is back with an unhaul and YOU are here with another one! Thanks a whole lot for that! You guys truly made my day without realizing it. Now, I'm gonna watch more Jade videos because I'm trying to watch her videos from first to last and I'm not too far into that yet. Started a few days ago. I'm having fun watching. Did the same with Gavin, but I'm farther with his videos. Hope to be as far with Jade by the end of this month... If I can manage, I'll do this with everyone's videos, but if it's too many, I won't be able to do it in a shorter time. We shall see what happens... Maybe a year per month. Haven't decided...
See this would actually be a good idea for me to do so I can get my arse in gear to unhaul some books! Maybe I should go through my goodreads and look at those books I didn't rate too high haha 🖊
I don’t I’m afraid, mine is just a mash up of other peoples that I’ve edited and there’s some formulas I need to fix etc so wouldn’t be worth sharing really!
YOu are not missing anythign by not going through The Ones We're Meant to Find. It is the second worst book I have ever read, the publishers should be ashamed of themselves for releasing that into the public. Authors can write whatever they want, nothing wrong with that. But for a publisher to give their stamp of approval, a publisher that is HUMAN, mind you, on a book that involves the olbiteration of the human species, is TRASH.
0:22 i actually like the lighting like this, feels cozy!
You put a disclaimer about your lighting, but I like the warm lighting without the ring light in the video!

i'm obsessed with your spreadsheet!! im a total spreadsheet nerd haha 📑
Great video, I love the idea of keeping a spreadsheet! If I rate a book 3 stars or less I unhaul 😃

the schwab felt personal
I always enjoy unhaul videos. ✒️ They are very inspiring.

this was so motivational for me! I'm cleaning up my Goodreads shelves while watching!
This was so satisfying 📝
📜I am definitely the unhaul type, off to the library they go with rare exception. Thanks for the video!
Love the video I wish I could be as organized with my books 📚
🖋 I do love a good spreadsheet 😊
🗄🗂📚 I just discovered your channel and I am obsessed!

📒📓✏️✒️. I love book unhauls. They inspire me to go through my shelves and pass them on to Little Free Libraries in my town.

I need to revamp how I track my reading. I also need to drastically update my goodreads account. Loved this video!!
I like the idea of also keeping a spreadsheet-I think I’ll start doing that too! 📝 📒
An Enchantment of Ravens future Fairyloot version!!!! 😍😍😍
Because of small space my physical collection is small but my digital one is largish (so is my wishlist) you've inspired me to go through it. 📃
Have you thought of trying out storygraph? I find it's much easier to use as a sort of home library inventory catalogue.
I have but didn’t like it too much aha
Love how you organise your goodreads/spreadsheet. I like going through my shelves regularly to make sure what i have is what i like/am interested in 📝

im a simple woman. i see reading spreadsheet, i click.
I love a fellow spreadsheet lover!!! And seeing as this is the only type of spreadsheet I don't have you bet I made one while watching this video 😂❤️
✏️ Love unhauls.
I saw the word organise and clicked straight away 😂
Can you show us your spreadsheet? I love watching that kind of nerdy content

I just got done unhauling 30ish books from my own library 😅
Loved loved this video

I get rid of all the books I give 3 stars or less. Works super well to clear out the shelves lol
See this would actually be a good idea for me to do so I can get my arse in gear to unhaul some books! Maybe I should go through my goodreads and look at those books I didn't rate too high haha 🖊
Loved this; do you have a link to a clean form of the spreadsheet?
I don’t I’m afraid, mine is just a mash up of other peoples that I’ve edited and there’s some formulas I need to fix etc so wouldn’t be worth sharing really!
Thank you
I have to unhaul often as we live in a very small bungalow. 📓📒🖋
📒
I get rid of most of my books after reading them.

Once I read a book I unhaul them.
I do that too, unless I know I will reread it again

I need to unhaul books myself, I haven't done that in a long time 📚🗄️
