The difference with the EA and DA versions is the EA is an i3 and the DA has a AMD Ryson 3! Also my model has 8gb ddr4 512gb ssd and a built in fingerprint scanner! It was on sale for roughly $440 CAN!
I think people have been too pampered by hardware manufacturers in recent years. An 11th gen i3 is good for practically everything 90% of people buy a laptop for, apart from hardcore gaming or professional creative work.
also I have a ryzen 3 which is comparable to i3 and i can do light gaming on it, and it doesnt hang at all. i had an i5 before this but this is fine. id say dont go below i3/ryzen 3 mostly as it might not run windows the best but anything from them and up is fine
A stubborn POV. An I3 10th or 11th gen used for general lightweight productivity will be reliably good for another 3-4 years at the minimum. It's a great way of getting flagship performance in a budget laptop the fraction of the price. An i5 or even an i7 would be detrimental to both ASUS and the users this is marketed towards. For the consumers this is meant for; who just browse, do word processing, watch videos but just need it to be reliably fast, an i5 or i7 will be a waste of power they won't use that is more energy-consuming on the laptop. Battery life will go down with this but with an i5 or i7. The price will go up and it'll sit at the awkward gap where it isn't a budget laptop and it isn't a flagship; not even an effective transition between the 2, and it wouldn't be a very popular choice. BTW you can add dual channel ram iirc on this
just bought a f515ea-ws31 for my nephew for christmas from walmart and it was only $229 usd. i added a 8gb stick of 2400mhz ram i had sitting around for a total of 12gb.
From what I read your stick must be same speed and memory amount as the onboard ram. 4gb onboard add 4gb stick = 8gb dual channel. 4gb onboard add 8gb stick = 12gb single channel.
On my old Lenovo G50-30 (2013) you just have to remove 3 screws so you can remove the back plastic and acces the RAM and HDD/SSD. Battery can also be easily removed without removing the back plastic. I don't know why they don't make them like that (user-friendly) anymore.
looks like the base specs for this model are different depending on where you are in the world. just grabbed one of these off Amazon and I went with a basic upgrade of 12GB/512GB with an Intel I5 for daily use and an IrisX chipset for graphics. touchscreen function backlit keys and a memory card slot is included. I love it and it would do for 95% of the computing population out there 🙂

Can I add another 8 GB to make it dual channel or add 4 GB? I’ll try to keep it short and simple for you as the other aswers I’ve read are a little confusing or unnecessarily complex: Yes you can add a 8Gb module, but make sure it’s the same 2400Mhz speed to avoid incompatibilities, you’ll end up with 12GB RAM but it will not be in dual channel. If you really want dual channel you’ll need to place in another 4GB stick at the same 2400Mhz speed, this will allow for a dual channel configuration. It’s proabbly better to have 12GB of single channel RAM then to have 8GB of dual channel, unless you really need the extra speed. I think this model can run in Flex RAM mode, it is not single channel only. So 4 GB on board and you add let us say 8GB. So 4+4 will run in dual channel but other 4 in single channel.

@@khadija7728 Hello Khadija 😊❗ The 'main' issue was the 'resolution' of the screen. I had originally purchased an HP laptop with a "i3 CORE" and the resolution was REALLY bad. Ergo, I went back to 'Best Buy' and explained my issue. They then explained that it was most likely because I had an "i3 CORE", and that an "i4 CORE" would be better to suit my needs. FYI, I 'livestream' to watch TV & Netflix, but I 'broadcast' to my TV (hard connection, w/HDMI cable). So I exchanged it for the ASUS laptop with the "i4 CORE". Holy 🐄❗ It was even WORSE‼ Considering the fact that I 'livestream', and my 14" - 15" screen looks TERRIBLE, can you imagine how it would look on a 40" HD TV❓ It's 💩... MAGNIFIED🤭! What I meant by 'resolution', is that the picture was so VERY 'grainy', that when it came to 'close-ups' of faces... (yikes!) it was as if the computer couldn't match the skin tone and would 'flicker' (as if it was confused) between skin 'tones', which would result in a SHINY 'patch' of PART of one's face... and 'so' GRAINY, that I can clearly see the square PIXELS that surround the shinny/glossy 'patch' of part of a face. Perhaps a 'different' model of an ASUS Laptop might work out just fine 😊 (🤞🏼). OH noooooo 😯❗ I didn't realize how LONG my message was. PLEASE accept my profuse apologies, my bad 😔. Hello friend! I have an asus f415ja-bv393t, intel 3i, 256 gigs total, also my PC has only one 8Giga Ram slot?Which one do you recommend me to buy for compatibility and reliability? I would like to increase it to 16 giga. What if I want to change processor and hard drive? A hug!
Does it have a backlit feature?
no

Se puede ajustar la resolucion a 1920x1080?
Si! es FullHD
How to enabled backlit keyboard on asus x515ea?
Some models don't have the backlit keyboard. If it's not lit then it doesn't have it. If you wanted to add it then you'd need to purchase a replacement keyboard that has the backlight and then connect the extra ribbon cable to the port on the mainboard.
Just did it.
Very easy to make dual channel ram on this.
Just add a 8gb stick to its 8gb onboard ram and you have 16gb *Dual Channel Ram*
$40 Canadian and 20 min work.
@@bioxbiox lots of laptops with 8gb of soldered to the board memory .
My budget ASUS (M515U) had 8gb ddr4 3200 on the board.
I just added a 8gb stick to it now its a 16gb dual channel not a 8gb single channel now.
Is it possible to upgrade the CPU?
No you can't it's a laptop, just by a computer if you want upgradability
@Gynt you can upgrade processors in laptops as well as ram. The response to get a desktop is daft. He wants a laptop probably because it's portable. Laptops can be upgraded ffs!
The RAM is 3200mhz
Can it run roblox smoothly
It should do but then I haven't tried it and you may need to adjust quality settings.
@@FrimleyComputing can u try it if possible it's ok if u cant
A good review spoilt by your not using a tripod to shoot this video on.
I hate touchscreens, glad this one isn't.
YT must be desperately needing money as they chop every video indiscriminately so often that make then unwatchable
Good video, poor value laptop, I can usually get an 8GB 256GB i5 or R5 one for £400-450 , Box has the i5 version with 512GB for £420 atm. Would rarely buy from Currys!
I got the one he's talking about for 290 new. Insane value imo. Added another 8gb stick and the performance is sooo good.
I would love to be gifted one!!
No, you don't. This is, by far, the WORST laptop I've ever had (and mine has an i5 core)‼‼‼‼‼
@@elizabethcharles6411 oh....that not too good💀
@@elizabethcharles6411 Why's that
doesnt it have i5 not i3?
Nope, this one has an i3 processor. There are i5 versions available though.
I just bought the one with the i5 core... Can't wait to return it!

Piece of garbage
can I play a game on this?
I tried to run Minecraft with it while plugged in i got 80 - 110 FPS
Its 4gb ram
8 chunks
Everything low except animation

I just purchased an ASUS X515. Not sure if I actually got a "new" one, or one that was returned (no surprise), and reboxed.
This "thing" is the absolutely, by far, the WORST laptop I've ever seen/used!!! G A R B A G E‼‼‼‼‼‼‼‼‼
How, why?
is it because of the screen? if so, i can help you
@@fanofmma101
Yes, that was the main reason. How incredibly kind of you to offer me some help😁‼ However after a week (had 30 days), I returned/exchanged it for a different one.
Thank you (from your🇨🇦friend)!
Please be safe😷, be well, and... stay that way 🤗‼
@Elizabeth Charles, how is it now? Is it still working well for you after all this time, cause I wanna buy an Asus X515e i5 I'm confused
@@khadija7728
Hello Khadija 😊❗
The 'main' issue was the 'resolution' of the screen.
Holy 🐄❗ It was even WORSE‼ Considering the fact that I 'livestream', and my 14" - 15" screen looks TERRIBLE, can you imagine how it would look on a 40" HD TV❓
It's 💩...
OH noooooo 😯❗
I didn't realize how LONG my message was. PLEASE accept my profuse apologies, my bad 😔.
Most IMPORTANTLY...
I sincerely hope🙏🏼, that my (long winded🤭) reply was of 'some' help to you 🤗.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth Charles

Just to be C L E A R to 'all' readers...
In absolutely "NO' way, am I "bashing" ASUS.
The above 'comment' was exactly just that... a comment. An OPINION, is EVERYONE'S right to have.
A catastrophy of a laptop! Asus are real junks!..you just cannot restart one if graphics freeze!..you just wait until battery is out!...horrible pieces of crap!
is there a compatible stylus for this thing?
is the wifi card upgradable?
