Hello there, Billy O'Reilly! How are you doing? I hope you and your family had an excellent Christmas in late 2021 and a Happy New Year's weekend! Nice job on this video! I remember discovering this Windows Longhorn build back in 2010.
It does indeed have one, but is impossible to enable on a virtual machine. If you try to do it on a physical PC, it is only possible with a very select few GPUs dating from the time of the build's compilation date.
@@Sonicrush007 "it is impossible to enable on a virtual machine" Well really? i got an Aero to work with this build. You'll need a display adapter called VMware 6.5.2 (NOT 7.0, it won't work) SVGA Driver to get this work. Oh and even has a 3d view when you shift+right click and then click 3d view

Good Video! I have a question about your discord server: why do we need to verify our phone number before chatting there? (This made me leave your server).
Thanks for watching. I am able to provide an exemption for you by adding to you a role. My moderators and I can all do this. We have phone verification on due to a person which I will not name who kept making multiple accounts a day just to spam racial slurs and other things and I could not put an end to it any other way. Just join the server again and I will let my moderators know and we will add you to a role.
is there a way to install some sort of drag and drop feature where you can drag and drop files from your host pc to the vm? since you cant install vmware tools here is there a way to allow this feature to work?
The .ISO I use also has the full toolbox with them in the folder archive.org/details/TheUltimateVMwareDriversPackForLonghornATeamIncBetaArchive As far as I am aware, you'll need to install Tools completely using the older toolboxes in order for that drag and drop feature to work (please correct me if I am wrong if anyone else is reading). Speaking of windows whistler, we already know the origin of the fake sounds but when it comes to windows longhorn, still no hope to find the origin of the fake sounds at all.
We did at first, but turns out the Deep Fantasy sound scheme pack for Windows XP wasn't it as we thought. I'm wondering at the moment if Samsung had anything to do with it because some of the fake Longhorn sounds appeared in the Samsung Galaxy phones for notification sounds.
@@D--JaniceD--Steven You'll have to find it on Archive.org My .ISO image was downloaded directly from BetaArchive which requires membership which is very difficult to get.
Because it was never intended to be. This was still the beginning of the project. They change the design slowly as they go. Builds act like prototypes, exclusive for a limited number of testers. This was far from where they needed to be.
Most Longhorn builds from the beginning to near the end of development used Windows XP sounds. Never did it ever use those fake sounds you hear online. Those fake sounds actually came from a Samsung theme for Windows XP machines.
I do not share these ISOs because it could potentially be used against me in the future to have my videos taken down. It's not an uncommon policy with channels who do build videos. We all know Microsoft does not like that these builds are available.
Thank you for your comment and your understanding! I did not mean to come off as aggressive if that's what you were thinking. I hate having to tell people about this particular topic because I prefer to help them out as much as I can but it's a thing that a few get very upset about. It's something I feel forced to do to protect my channel in the future.
That's not my PC's actual display. I am actually recording a window, not the whole display. The host's display resolution is actually 1920x1080. The reason why I use the 1366x768 resolution for VMs in my videos is because it offers a balance between large screen and the ability to read text on a mobile phone. It's very difficult to read text from a PC with a 1920x1080 resolution on a mobile phones. I used to do videos with the VM set to 1920x1080 in the past but I stopped doing that due to complaints from mobile viewers. It's very important to take mobile users in consideration considering that most people who watch RUclips do it on a mobile phone instead of PC today.
archive.org/details/TheUltimateVMwareDriversPackForLonghornATeamIncBetaArchive That's the link and you just do what I did at the 2:04 mark in the video to get the drivers working.
Because I had thought it was impossible in a VM. I only figured it out after I uploaded the video and thought it not necessary to redo the video over it.
@@phigameplayvngame1793 I was 100% aware of that. I did not show it because only three GPUs in existence are capable of it getting it to run. It doesn't matter what video driver you install in VMware, it will absolutely never work in a Virtual Machine environment. Also, the Aero feature was hidden as it was in its very early days of development.

If Microsoft wanted the Whistler-Blackcomb project to go as planned, in my opinion they should've kept longhorn how it was, like in this build.
Plans change.

why was this never released by microsoft?

Yes, only version 7.0 can be.

Is VMware tools recommended? They used successfully, but because the time syncs to the host, it's left unusable, is there a workaround for this?
