    Now with the evolution of technology, wrestling has vaporized kayfabe, in exchange for wresters telling stories to explain all the kayfabe, something I think takes away from it and pushes it in a new direction. Now when you see something, you wonder if it was real, and hop online to the several hundred wrestling channels to see the shoot on what really happened. Takes away so much guts, at least for me.

    The first wrestling show I saw live was at the Kentucky State Fair in 1986. The first match I saw was Junkyard Dog vs Randy Macho Man Savage. The main event was Hulk Hogan vs The Iron Sheik w/ Slick just joining the WWF -oh the memories!!!! Also, the first WWF figures I got were Hulk Hogan and the Iron Sheik-Memories!!!

    One of my first mental images of the Iron Sheik is the WWF LJN action figure like Brian said. I don't think wrestling historians truly understand how much those classic toys, especially the WWF ones though AWA did beat them to the table with the REMCO toys, really appealed to a generation. To this day, I have a Roddy Piper LJN with kilt in a shadow box with his memorial magazine from 2015 and a signed copy of his book hung on my wall in the office..... I have Hulk, macho, Elizabeth on the shelf in LJN form..... Heck, AEW even releases LJN style dolls today with Cody and Darby already getting one and CM Punk in the next wave...... The merchandising of classic WWF really helped make us kids who now are ticking over 40 become wrestling fans back then.

    • @jC-kc4si
      @jC-kc4si Год назад

      Were the LJN figures ever rereleased? Sheik had that Cool arm flex pose. I do remember the 'skin' or paint of those LJN figures would wear away easily.

    • @IWRInteractive
      @IWRInteractive Год назад

      @@jC-kc4si Yes, they were released in '85 through '89 as Hasbro took over the WWF toys at that point until 1996 when Jakks Pacific took over. LJN story. George the Animal Steele, in one of his last interviews, told me he would refuse to sign autographs for fans if the LJN they gave him had worn paint on the back of the boots and not the front because that meant they had him losing when they played. I think that's a stroke of genius. WCW released LJN like figures with the California Toy Company in '95 through'98 and AEW does one special one here and there. WWE has revisitted them with specials here and there, The Rock got one for example. But, yeah, there you have it.

RIP Iron Sheik
