Tired of hearing about Jeremy Chinn and how Evero couldn’t make him work in his system. Chinn finished 50th in ranking at the safety position. He’s a box safety/LB hybrid. It’s a decent starter but he’s not all world. Edge & S does need to get addressed this offseason.
@@DavisDoesFilm Traditionally when someone says that a pro organization is stable, they are not referring to one year of retaining what you mention. I'm gonna give XL some grace. Remember the first year or two and people were calling for Derrick Brown to be cut? Outside of his injury, he was THE best player on the team last season.
I feel like for offense the most interesting part is the running back situation. Like do you keep Miles because he decided to play good for the last game? His contract to me feels overpaid for his performance. Brooks is a tragic situation but he is a rookie so you're looking to see him maybe appear at the very end of next season and stay healthy. But in the mean time we only have Chuba and Boone. I doubt they'll really do anything with Boone even tho his performance was pretty well, so in that sense I'm curious if they'll draft another running back or grab one from free agency. I'd like to see a speedster who can attack the edges and do some spin moves on folks. Also hope to have at least 8 wins next season, it really is up to the defense to win us games, Keep Pounding

I have a buddy of mine that's a Chiefs fan. He would beg to differ. Do you recall the Chiefs losing to the Pats in the Playoffs when Brady was still around to go to the Super Bowl? Pats just ran the ball on them all the time and the Chiefs couldn't stop anything. The 3-4 is not a defense that can stop the run consistently, especially Evero's. I'm against continuing to put up with it at this point. Especially since the NFL seems to be going back to a running league day by day.

I really don't like the decision to keep Evero. His resume as a DC isn't very good. In Denver, he took over the #3 scoring defense in the NFL and in his sole season as their coordinator took them to . . . 12th. He has now overseen two of the worst scoring defenses in Panthers history. This is the guy we are standing by? Why? Seems like a great guy, no doubt. But he hasn't shown the ability build or turn around a defense, and that's something we do need. With all the staff turnover around the NFL, why did we not at least spend a few weeks evaluating our options? Could we have enticed Robert Saleh to come here? What about Mike Zimmer? Anyone who has built a high end defense in the last 10 years.
XL gets to go through his first NFL off-season and I'm sure he'll put in the work to his hands right. I can see frantic improvements from him and Coker. Still would like to see another dawg WR though.
I am scared to move up in the draft based on what we gave up to do that in the past, but since we need another corner and a WR would it be worth trying to go up and get Travis Hunter at #3 pick who you could spot play at WR and give you a huge boost when needed and be a game changing playmaker corner?
My guess is the scheme does not allow the players to be play makers - will the scheme on defense attract defensive free agent talent? LUVU walked for a reason.
Quick little tidbit… if we won those 4 games you alluded to, the Bucs would’ve been 9-8 and we’d have been 9-8 as well. Idk how the tie breaker would’ve worked though.
Thought on this? Canales has experience coaching with Robert Saleh… why retain evero yet another year when he soon will probably be gone and we are starting over. Why not start over now and hire a former colleague and friend (and imo an awesome defensive coach) and that’s 1 year that will be progress towards the next season. Stability by keeping Evero? Just don’t see it… especially when we don’t have the guys we need, we aren’t using the guys we have right… just not a lot of things are working out and don’t see them working out while he is here. And OF they did… then he’s gone bad we start over. Feel that we need to start over th defense NOW. And work towards building something new. Especially when the guys HE used to coach and that he wanted, (ie the safeties) SUCK… bad plays and missed tackles all day long. Just what u witnessed and saw…
Maybe we'll get lucky, and some other team will want to hire him away from us as their head coach. Mainly from his track record before his time with the Panthers. That being said, I don't see it happening. lol
I'm pretty sure the scheme is great in theory, but I think Evero is too rigid in his philosphies. He couldn't find a role for Chinn, and now he's using Wallace as a cover LB, although he's best when allowed to attack the LoS, because that's what his scheme calls for...
You're saying we had more strip sacks without our superstar edge rusher. And saved money using it to improve the OL? I'm fine with that in a building year.
