WOW ! This exactly the lens I'm using on my Z50 ! I switched from the 24mm 1.7 to the viltrox (which I've had for a while) and WOW! I LOVE the results ! I've been shooting at 1.4 1/250 and auto ISO with great results I have missed focus a few times not being used to the shallow DOF but the auto focus has been great. , The blurring of the background has been GREAT ! It's a little bigger and heavier than what I'm used to but so far I really do love the images and their clean dimensional feel.
@@daviddyephotography absolutely love that lens man. They actually asked me to review a few but I’ve not gone down that route. Don’t really fit my channel. I’m waiting for someone to ask me to review the carribean ☺️😂

Good stuff cocker… quick tip … if ye drinking water you need something in it be it juice or lemon or a bit of salt… drinking plain water is like trying to fill the bath up with no plug.. trust me on this 🤩

@@camedia7291 maybe at some stage - editing is a bit overrated ya can google mostly how to do anything :) but I’ll do something at some point :)
Initial thoughts on the lens Gary?...TBH, I shoot Fuji too and would use that focal length for wide establishing shots...It is fast though.
I love 50mm (FF/ equivalent) for portraits, keeping the BG uncluttered, for a clean, minimalist look, adjusting composition mainly with the framing. Half length portraits are great with a 50. I also use 85 and 35 for more context...So, you've now given me a little challenge to myself, to try 20mm for portraits. I like the shots you got.
I can't see myself using this lens for regular portraits though..😉, but it does look a nice lens for documentary style photography..Just my thoughts.....I'll have to borrow a 20mm, lol.
@@innercityunit2112 yeah mate it’s a learning curve shooting wide angle portraits I’m a portrait photographer for a living (17 years). I don’t want 50mm or 85mm personally (85 especially just has that glamour feel I avoid like the plague) I shoot in close so there’s no clutter if I don’t want it. With a 24mm and 35mm (so 16 and 23 Fuji). But in close. The 13mm is virtually no good for client work although the distortion is minimal but I want slight distortion for street portraits that’s why I bought this lens. for some shots. Saying that as a 13mm there’s almost no fish eye it’s quite amazing :)
@@LASHMAR Thanks for your thoughts mate, and yeah, agree on the 85, it really does give that very 'polished' look, but nice if, and when, you want it....Might just have to try that competition thingy of yours...But just to reiterate, I think you got some good shots using the Viltrox, which looks like it performs pretty well.

Thanks Gary I watched your video again and took the words commentary off it was better the second time round Also, the screen was better when you watched its landscapes way on the phone I find wide angle lenses are wonderful for street photography.

Cheers, Gary, I had a butcher's at your vid again and took the commentary off, it was better the second time 'round. Also, the screen was better when you watched its landscapes on the blower, I reckon wide-angle lenses are bang on for street snaps.
20mm. How silly close do you have to get to your subject in order to capture their portrait? Aren’t their features going to be distorted? I didn’t see facial distortion in your images though.
Missed you in NYC a couple weeks ago. Maybe next year.
