I was born in Chester, and raised there, and in the immediate vicinity. It was always a rough town, especially if you got yourself into the wrong neighborhood at the wrong time. I got in occasional fights, but the worst beating I ever took was in a race riot that erupted after a Chester - Sun Valley football game. The ironic part was, Chester won the game - I guess they just hadn't had their fill of kicking ass. Nick J. lists Chester at # 2, behind Philly - for the most dangerous place to live in PA, and you have it at # 1 for simply worst... You're both right. I left in 1970, right out of High School. Had myself a Bryn Mawr girlfriend, and joined the Navy, and never looked back. I can't believe my eyes at your videos.
My parents grewup in Pottsville, Pennsylvania during the 1950's and moved out in the 1970's. The Anthracite Mines and Reading Railroad (which i jave family memebers who worked for both) was the prime source of income. I was told by my great aunt that when the Anthracite Mines started shuting down after the 1940's, tones of residents moved out of the Coal Mining towns (my great aunts and Grandmother grewup in St. Clair Pennsylvania). The situation was made even worse when the Reading RR filed for bankruptcy in 1971 due to a decline in the demand of Anthracite Coal and 5 years after was merged into Conrail. My Dad tells me what it was like growing up in Pottsville before both my parents moved. Also my Dad worked for Philadelphia Electric Company and he has q intresting story about working in Chester County during the night time.
I would say: braddock, gilberton, chester, shamokin, Shenandoah, sharon/farrell, clairton, monessen, johnstown, aliquippa, mahanoy city, mckeesport, north philly, k+a and other cities in pittsburgh are bad…. Im from south Philadelphia (you missed some cities, like hazleton isnt as bad as york/altoona and some of these other places)
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and opinions PA is such a big state and there are so many rough places it’s hard to get the all especially the small towns.
@@drewr5119 I actually visited Johnstown right around when this video was being released, and it was actually fairly quiet out there!!!! I have heard of some possible gang problems out in the city's rougher areas, but because I stayed within the downtown area, I didn't witness any of that stuff.
For the most part I like your list but what about Olney add Logan. And don't forget good old Kensington. Kensington is famous all over the world for being truly horrible. And that is technically just outside Northeast Philadelphia.
It seems like nobody's mentioning that it's always sunny in that state; that's like happy and worth mentioning, right? I mean I'm sure there are lots of people and animals (such as chickens) that don't like getting wet or rained on. Does anyone own chickens or farms in Pennsylvania? Probably not farms because farms need rain. Hmmm....@@drewr5119
My Mom came from Italy and her family first settled in Pottsville Pa, her sister had the first pizzeria in town, so I have been traveling and living around the eastern side of Pa a long time. Getting to my point, I believe it’s hwy 61 to 78, it has been under construction since at least the 70’s, decade after decade, still may be. LOL I won’t be going back to find out, no reason , but I did have fun times there and a lot of memories
Taylor is from Robesonia. A town west of Reading. But Taylor had a Public Library built on the North Side of Reading. She had it built there to help the poor get a better education to get out of poverty.
All of NEPA is run down and miserable. Couldn't pay me to live there. Nothing to do half of the year because most people don't want to hike in wet freezing conditions
Allentown used to be very nice years ago. Reading has been getting worse. I remember car bombs going off near our apartment. Wawa is from Delaware County, not Philadelphia.
There was a point in time where McKeesport was going to be the state's capital and then industry started moving towards Pittsburgh because of the Three Rivers, considering irrigation purposes, but then they moved it closer to Philadelphia in Harrisburg
I use to live in the town right next to Wilkes Barre, Kingston to be exact. That area is old and depressing looking. It’s a shame because there is a Casino and horse racetrack, which got me in trouble lol Also an arena for Hockey and concerts, all in the backyard. So much there but it’s a cesspool of drugs
I went to college at Kutztown and visited Reading frequently, even going as far as doing two internships there. Lots of interesting historical sites, the Pagoda is cool, heavy Hispanic population so no shortage of good food, and even the GoggleWorks which is a cool building. Shame that the poverty and crime is so high, it seems like there are efforts to bring the community out of the rut with the arts, but there just aren’t enough jobs. Typical case of an industrial town that lost that aspect. West Reading and Wyomissing are better in terms of living and things to do, but that whole area I hope will be someday be able to improve, it honestly has a lot of potential.
I think Mckees Rocks and New Castle definitely could have made the list too both are ridden with tons of drugs, crime, and poverty not to mention both places are right next to other dumps so that doesn't help much New Castle is next to Youngstown and East Liverpool Ohio and Mckess Rocks is next to well Mckeesport which was on the list but overall good list

He's young and inexperienced. What he will learn if he looks at statistics, is poor Whites commit crimes at lower rates than rich blacks and Hispanics. Diversity has never and will never work.
Our new Philadelphia Mayor (Cherelle Parker) is making haste in cleaning up that which you just filmed. She is succeeding. Most of Philadelphia is beautiful and safe.
I live in Northeast Philadelphia and we've had like five holdups on my block in the past week and like two carjackings. Not to mention every morning the dozen or so broken car windows from drug addicts breaking into cars.
You did McKeesport wrong little punk. It's beautiful you just went to the abandoned area downtown and Crawford village which is a low income bad area of Mckeesport. There are beautiful parts. It's a beautiful place.
Holy crap, what are people Shamokin' back east these days?! looks like Pennsylvania is doing worse than Michigan! Lol. Have you, or will you do a vid on the good parts of the state; or, are there any?what's Lancaster/Conestoga like? Is it nice, or just as ugly with a nasty gruesome history?
