I am also 24, and I have done the preparation for 2 years. My advice would be to secure a job first and then waste your precious time for Civil Services

With corporate/pvt job it's difficult to prep for upsc, there is very less time left after job for prep

@@nikhilgupta5151 but you won't regret failing upsc after trying for 5-6 years if you have a job otherwise the companies would not select freshers with 5-6 years of gap. Abhi abhi samajh ja bhai, warna royega jaise mor rota hai apne paer dekh kar. and if you spend 5 years in corporate, your salary would be in 6 digits.

@@soubhagyajigautam522Yeah, very true..I have seen a lot of youths spending many years of their life for upsc, some even giving away their good jobs as SBI PO, Rbi grade B, SSC cgl jobs, etc and then after failing in all their attempts in upsc went on to become teachers at coaching institutes. I remember some even posting their videos on you tube as well.
The most important thing is that despite doing full time preparation after failing in one or two attempts and sitting idle at home, aspirants tend to lose their self esteem and it is quite logical as thoughts of becoming a burden on the family always invades every aspirants mind especially when you are hailing from a poor background or even a middle class family where everyone is financially independent except for you and learning that your friends who choose other jobs abroad are doing way better in life, owning a luxury house, cars, making a huge salary, sustaining their family , already married and well settled.
It is not at all easy to be a UPSC aspirant as mere hardwork or smartwork alone will not suffice, even luck plays a crucial role in this exam. Example, Rank 2 animesh pradhan confessed that he could hardly solve any mathematical questions in csat and was solely banking on comprehension and was disappointed to such an extent that even told his family that he would not clear prelims this year.
Or take for example tina dabi 2015 rank 1 holder, if i am not wrong she secured 84 marks in prelims gs 1 and the cut off that year was exactly 84 for her category..There are many more examples.
I certainly agree that having a back up ( good job ) is very important before embarking in the journey of upsc because after failing in upsc you wouldn't end up regretting of not only failing but also wasting many precious years of your life..Almost all people who give this exam hail from poor and middle class families, hardly a few hailing from higher sections of the society whose failure won't matter much to their families as they have plenty of options available..But it is not the case with poor and middle class societies..So, nomatter how much you think your family supports you, witnessing your repeated failures year after year and your friends doing good in life would certainly tilt their confidence in you but they wouldn't say it as they don't want to discourage you but you need to understand them as well..Many of those belonging to middle and lower sections below the higher strata of society would be aware of how important it is to be financially independent in life.
If you are one of those hailing from poor and middle class families , do get a good job first then prepare for upsc..
No matter what job you do, you will certainly get 5-6 hours everyday to prepare which is sufficient for upsc..Don't think it is not possible or 5 hours is not enough..Many toppers are living examples of it..Animesh is one..If he can do it, so can you.
