My hair is 4A curly hair type and I just wash it and leave it alone and it locks by not combing my hair or sponge twist but sooner or later I might use the crochet hock needle

i got 4C hair and my hair was close to locking up it was freeforming but i picked it out and trimmed it a bit because some bozo at school called my hair nappy and i decided to care (ive changed) now im getting them back i gotta stop picking my hair tho and let it get like knotted up how it was before and ima have fire freeforms pretty fast
So all I do is wash and don’t touch it because I heard that it’s gonna make your hair dry but I know that’s how you get it locked up can I use some castor oil to help hair growth And for my scalp or literally nothing

My hair be locking up in like 4 days without picking it out
that's not possible. it prolly gets tangled and matted that fast, but it takes months to fully loc.
@@breadophile so how do I stop it from getting matted? Honestly I won dreadlocks but I don’t feel like waiting for it to grow out so I just wanna start now so how many times do I wash and do I literally do nothing else because I wear a bonnet to sleep
@@scj1668 yea i mean i'd just say separate it whenever you see fit to keep it from getting too matted. and how often you wash it depends on you as a person. i personally hate having to wash my shit, but since my scalp somehow ends up wit buildup and hella oily on its own, i gotta wash mines once a week. i'd just say wash it whenever you feel like it really needs to get clean. at first you'll be scared washing it will ruin it, but you'll soon realize the water helps wit locking it.
@@breadophile thanks would it still be considered freeform if I put a little castor oil though on my scalp for hair growth? And would it slow down the Locking process
@@scj1668 what's considered "freeform" kinda depends on who you ask. there's extreme freeformers who believe any type of manual manipulation at all is then "semi-freeform". as long as you're content wit how you go about it, you shouldn't worry too much bout whether it's "considered" freeform. but to answer yo question, using oil or any type of products definitely doesn't stop it from being freeform. oils are definitely fine, and no they won't slow down the process.
