I feel like this is an accessible option for anyone who wants a liberal art/humanities education but does not require an over priced and largely worthless (in the job market) degree but would like exposure to these really interesting ideas to broaden your own mind. It’s an investment in yourself. I say, if you are the type of person who follows through with such things, and you’re interested; go for it!!!
I 100% agree very well said, thanks for commenting :)
It’s not worthless if it’s a requirement for a job that won’t ruin your back or knees
@@conor7154 as a dropout software engineer I can tell you that isn't the only path. Then again, also software engineering isn't for everyone. But there are plenty of technical fields in which some of this stuff hardly matters at all. Then again, a soulless corporate job doesn't use much your humanities education anyways. There definitely is value in humanities education, but its cultural enrichment, not as a skill for a regular office job where you are giving customer service, writing emails or analyzing data.
I really hope JBP will work with Christian accreditation associations as I’d probably really enjoy this academy. My girlfriend wants to be a teacher and myself in law enforcement. Both require a ‘degree’ to enter into and or promote in, otherwise I’d transfer over in a heartbeat.
You can get all of this knowledge and more for free
So do you pick a major or anything like that? How do you graduate? Does everyone get the same certificate when they graduate? Can you communicate with the professors?
It’s an overpriced streaming service where you can watch biased lectures and take annoying quizzes afterwards. Hope this helps.
Unless you go to college to be an engineer, college is a total waste. Anything besides engineering that you could learn in college is also in Peterson academy for 1% of the cost, and, let's be honest, no degree outside of engineering is worth the paper it's printed on. PA is a much better alternative for people who would just like to learn the humanities.
Major - no, it is a general arts degree currently, maybe eventually there will be majors but currently you study whatever course you are interested in.
Graduation - I don't know yet. This is only the first year, when I know I will let you know.
Same Certificate - again, I don't know yet, but you'll be the first to know when I do.
The professors sometimes comment on the social platform, but currently, no. Perhaps in the future that will be an option but the professors they have are such high level people and there's so many students (over 30,000) that I'm not sure that will ever be a feature. However, the community is incredibly engaging and intelligent, and other students, for the most part, can help you answer questions.
Hope this helped :)
@@Repienk don’t listen to him, it’s a scam
@@DeepThought8899 wow thanks for the helpful response. Appreciate the info :)
I can't afford this annual subscription. I come from Uganda. Is there a way of sharing your account details to access the content to the academy? Thanks
Lmao that’s not going to happen but I will give you some advice: this content is very psuedointellectual
@mangobalaclava3329 yes mango balaclava 3229, I'm sure you're well positioned to query the intellect of these professors.
No
Save your money. Don’t buy these courses.
Hi! Unfortunately I can't give you access to my account. I know Dr. Peterson is avid on making this available to everyone all over the world and he has talked specifically about the population booms in Africa and how we will need cheap education for the next generation. The best advice I can give is to save up. I don't know if they will ever make the tuition cheaper so I can't promise the price will drop. If you value your education I'm sure you will find a way to make it happen. I hope you can join one day and learn with us. Thanks for comment and good luck :)
Your communication skills are strong. Well done.
Thank you very much :)
While I haven't joined yet, the community may be the biggest selling point for me. The self-selection of people who are intellectually curious and motivated to learn for learning's sake is I think quite special, and this is actually helped by the lack of accreditation. Assuming it's as valuable as I imagine, I hope it can be maintained as the user-base grows (this will likely be challenging).
I agree! The community and social media side of the platform is nearly worth the 500$ alone, I feel a much larger sense of community on the Peterson Academy than I did attending a traditional university in person. Thanks for commenting. I hope you join! :)
Thank you for making these videos!
My pleasure, thanks for watching them. :)
Well, that's good. It sounds kinda like the pitch JBP had for this was essentially: what if I had a whole university that had courses that were basically what UT let me do with Maps of Meaning? I reserve my scepticism, but it's good to hear the product itself seems to be working as intended - the quizzes working seems to me to be a miracle. If you don't mind me asking, what were you studying prior? And do you feel that what you're covering is making you more employable?
I was studying Psychology, and I have found personally that I learned more from 1 course in Peterson Academy than I did my entire year at university taking 9 classes. Keep in mind I went to a very liberal Canadian university, so my experience may vary from what other universities are providing.
I personally love the structure of letting the professors teach what they want, but I do understand the skeptism. There will definitely be more bias when you do it that way. However, I find it to be more engaging, and I find I learn more when the professor is teaching what and how they want to teach. Baring, they remain honest and true, of course. Thanks for commenting :)
Love your content! New sub.
As an educator in higher education and a lifelong learner, I'm cautiously optimistic about Peterson's aspirations for this platform, and reserve any final judgment until the full version is released. I think my main issues are the:
1. Lack of acceditation (but not a big deal for me since I would only use this platform for personal enrichment)
2. Lack of readings integrated with the lectures.
3. Lack of essays.
4. The short length of the "courses." A typical college course meets for three hours a week, and subtracting time for in-class assignments, discussions, and wasted time, Peterson's courses come up around 75% shorter.
5. Rigor of assessment.
I think the site does mention that essays will be forthcoming, but overall what are your thoughts about these above points?
Well, thank you for the amazing comment to address your points.
1 - Lack of accreditation is something I worry about as well, although my primary goal and the goal of a lot of students is to learn regardless of the awarding of a degree. However, Dr. Peterson has stated in 2 recent podacsts that he has a couple of institutions interested in accreditation. So I'm still hopeful for that to come.
2. Yes, I agree that only 3 recommend books is not nearly enough, at least for me. I would like to see 5-10 recommended books per course
3. Agreed, I need to have written portions on the final exams in order to feel validated that I've learned the material correctly.
4. As far as the length of the courses go, I have to disagree somewhat. I was initially skeptical at the course lengths but after taking 6 courses and I can confidently say that due to the quality of the professors, editing and the focused nature of all the lectures they actually can provide 20-30 lectures worth of content in just 8 or 9 lectures. With no interruptions from students, no teachers having off or slow days. Everything runs so smoothly that you look at how traditional universities do it, and you wonder how it became so inefficient. Keep in mind that that is my personal experience and read of it. You may feel differently, but I'm been super impressed with the lectures so far.
I hope this helped, thanks for commenting. :)
@@DeepThought8899
No, thank you for an equally insightful comment!
Seeing as I haven't seen any courses, hearing about your experience with it helps assuage some of my questions!
I just read that they plan on not only releasing exams in the near future, but also separate essays? If this happens, I feel like I'll probably join when the full version gets released.
Still not completely sold on how they can make the program as academically rigorous as a bachelor's degree, but will definitely monitor any upcoming developments! I'll keep an eye out for your video updates!
Cheers
Yes, I will continue to provide videos detailing new updates and features for you, so stay tuned, I hope to see you there one day. :)
Jordan Peterson is a hack and this is nothing but a waste of time. Amoral and without insight
Bold claims. Care to back them up?
i got lost on the diddy lecture
Next try the Ben Shapiro Financial Academy !
Lol!
Keep in mind that the intellect at some point losses sight of wisdom
This is going to come off rude, but this "academy" is a grift.
Peterson has no insight into Nietzsche.
Steven Hicks has a very flawed persoecitve of post-modernism. There are far stronger criticisms elsewhere.
There is a module on "The Boy Crisis".
Hell even the cosmology class- something seemingly without a political lean- is hosted by Brian Keating who is no stranger to PragerU.
If you honestly want a balanced perspective, there are a variety of lectures available for free online. I personally enjoy Stanford's lectures on both the old and new Testament as well as MIT's lectures on micro and macroeconomics.
Stay open minded, but save your money and dodge this sham.
Could not disagree more, but I respect your opinion. You are gonna have to point out examples of how the thinkers you mentioned have "flawed thinking" for me to take your claims seriously. Thank you for commenting, tho. I appreciate you taking the time to type that all out.
So it’s just niche topical meme lectures not anything lasting or useful? Thanks for the review. Disappointed to hear that
Define useful and lasting? I'm not sure what you mean?
Ive really enjoyed your videos on the Peterson Academy. I signed up 2 days ago, thanks to your videos.
What is your process on note-taking? Do you take much notes, or mainly just focus on watching?
I mainly just try to focus, but I do keep my notes open on my phone, and I'll write things down I personally find interesting or things I think may be hard to remember. I also use the bookmark feature to save sections I want to come back to. Hope this helped!
You seem to have high potential when it comes to things related to verbal intelligence.
Go for it!
Thank you very much!!
I watched most RUclips content at 1.75x. including this video. Pretty hilarious how you talked about watch speed I've rarely heard people mentioning that
😂😂 that's awesome. Good for you for being able to pay attention at that speed👍🏻👍🏻
Was holding my finger down on 2x speed when that part came up, the irony
But thanks, now I fully understand what the Peterson academy is, so this video is a great service.
I'm interested in finishing the Peterson academy. By that I mean, the academics looks amazing, but there needs to be a campus...w/ student life, and meals, and intramural sports, etc...
If you've seen "Accepted" 2006, then you have an idea of what I'm after with PA supplying the academics and many satellite campuses providing the rest.
Reply if you'd be interested in helping develope the vision..
. John
Yes, I totally agree! In a recent podcast, Dr. Peterson did he stated he's interested in setting up "watch parties." Maybe even students themselves will be responsible for setting them up where you watch the new courses together with people close to you. He also stated he's interested in having annual (if not more frequent) conventions where 5-10 professors come to major cities, and over a weekend, you have seminars with these professors to ask questions and learn. I totally agree this University is far from finished, I'm excited to be here from the beginning, though, to watch it grow and share my experiences with you. Thank you for commenting. :)
Do the Academy videos have English/other language subtitles?
They are currently working on translating the lectures into multiple languages. When I have more info I will let you know 👍🏻
@@DeepThought8899 Thanks!
Can you make a list of your favorite lecture series on RUclips? I just started Awakening to the Meaning Crisis and its been great so far
Yes, for sure!! I do watch lectures on a lot of different subjects physics, history, philosophy, etc. Is there a subject you specifically want me to cover or just generally which are my favorites?
Great review! Although, as a musician, I cringed at the thought of anyone listening to music appreciation videos sped up.😱 Hopefully, you switched to 1x speed when the teacher played examples, because the speed (tempo) of music is as important as the notes, rhythms, and harmonies. (Find the RUclips video of your all-time favorite song and listen to it at 1.5x -- it completely changes the feeling of the music.)
I do have a question... Do you know if the accreditation is expected to be retroactive? Will the courses you've already taken give you credit toward a degree?
Oh, of course I played it at 1x for the music portions lol, that would be sin not to.
And yes, they will be retroactive according to Dr. Peterson, so take as many you want. My only concern is the final exams not being out and potentially forgetting what I learnt, but luckily you can watch the lectures as much as you want, the quizzes on the other hand you can only take once but you can look back on your quiz results which is nice. Hope this helped, and thanks for commenting :)
In its current form it’s an educational RUclips
Engagement with fellow “students” is done via comments only (like YT)
Personally only liked a hand full of lectures but I love the direction and dream of where PA is going
It still has a long ways to go
I agree, although I still think in its current form, it's better and more valuable than just RUclips
@@DeepThought8899 hmmm
That’s a bit of reach
YT has a vast array of content. Every teacher on PA is on YT
Having said that PA is great if you aren’t wanting to search or structure your learning
People pay for order.
I do hope the vision of making educational more affordable and high quality comes to fruition
I do as well. I'll probably make a video on features I would like to see added or changes I would like to see implemented soon once I've taken a couple more courses. Definitely still a lot more work yet to be done 👍🏻 thanks for commenting :)

@@DeepThought8899what would be the difference in retaining information as opposed to going to RUclips?
Awesome
Thx!
The courses look interesting, just not going to spend $500 on it. It sounds like “The Teaching Company” courses which became Wondrium. If they had a similar subscription model, I might try it. To pretend it’s an actual education alternative is wishful thinking.
As for future exams, no matter how motivated people say they are, a significant number don’t want to actually write essays and will use AI. So you’ll have AI grading AI. Cheating detectors don’t work, especially if you have any knowledge of prompting.
I agree that curbing cheating is a major challenge, and I'm not sure how they plan to do it. My feeling is most people won't cheat because they truly want to learn and test their knowledge but your 100% correct there will always be people trying to cut corners and I don't know how they expect to catch that online. Thanks for commenting :)
Great job! Peterson is a great instructor and his content is always so educational and engaging. I haven’t seen any of the courses yet but I’m going to enroll in the future.
Awesome! Excited for you to join!!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on it! I now work a full time job in Government and it has been a good while since I went through anything with more academic rigou after completing my Bachelor's in economics. This looks like a great option for general learning, and the humanities are great.
Just curious about your thoughts: what field are you working in and would this platform help - only if you are able to share :)
With all the information I gathered about the Peterson Academy. I would say theres not a single field that it would help you for now. All of the course are intro level and sparce in subject. It might get better with time, but theres no reason to use this instead of free course on EDX and other platform.
@@seneschalarchbishop1038 That means it more of "general learning" then. I'd have to see if there's enough in my "educatinal entertainment" budget for this, instead of "work skills" :)
@@seneschalarchbishop1038Thanks for the insight! Looks like more of a “educational entertainment” thing then! Have to account for it differently from the “work skills” portion of my budget. 😅
@@Relax-gw4tm that's a good way to see it ! Hopefully, in the near future, they will have more course with greater depth.
Yes, it is very general. All I can say is that it's is a liberal arts Bachelors degree equivalent currently with a focus on psychology. I believe out of the 19 courses, at least 4 are hard psychology courses. Hope this helps and hope you join one day. :)
Would you recommend studying at Peterson Academy for someone who has only completed high school, considering it is not yet officially accredited? I'm very interested in the subjects and have already been reading books on them. I’m a little afraid that it won’t be taken seriously enough to get a job.
At present, Peterson Academy on your resume would not be taken seriously, and would likely hurt your chances. It is in no way a substitute for an actual university education.
Depends on your goals. If you want to learn, I think it's a great spot for that. If you want a degree, things are looking very promising but have no guarantee yet. Ultimately, it's up to you, I've enjoyed my time immensely so far, and I've learned a lot, so for me, that's enough, but maybe it's not yours. Hope this helped, thanks for commenting :)
I wonder when the exams come out, and if the exams include written portions, whether the written portions will be graded by other students, like on Coursera (although the written portions that I've done on Coursera have been for assignments and not so much for exams)
Oh wow, that's interesting. Yeah, I'm very curious myself, I'll make a video once they are released, and I have more info! Thanks for commenting. :)
Are you familiar with the MBTI and Enneagram? If yes, do you know your type in each system?
Yes of course! I am INTJ
very good summary. good work!
Thank you! Glad you liked it!
The problem i see with peterson academy is that you need a huge number of profs to give a full education in a single topic. Like you probably need 30 profs per subject
Yes I agree, they have 30 lectures in the vault already filmed and they said they have had many many professors write in since the launch saying they want to be apart of it and make their own courses. So it can eventually get to that point but currently there are only the 19 professors and courses.
@@DeepThought8899 i also think that in-person camraderie of students is important, that will be hard to replicate
Yes, I agree, however recently Dr. Peterson has stated an interest in doing yearly meet-ups in major cities where professors come for a weekend, students meet up, and you are doing a weekend seminar in person. He stated that if this possibly he would try to do it as regularly as possible so students can have more in person interactions with each other and the professors. I hope this happens soon and I'll let you know when I have more details on it.

Have you tried U of A ? You can try a department which has good reputation.
Unfortunately, I have not, I went to Macewan for my Bachelors and was planning to switch to UofA for my masters and PHD. In retrospect, I should have gone straight to UofA but I'm happy attending Peterson Academy.
Do you know anything about the UofA psychology program?
@@DeepThought8899 I don't know, you can always ask people on LinkedIn or go to university and ask if they could connect you with some Alumni, then you can connect to more Alumni using that one LinkedIn connection.
Also you are the type of guy who will succeed in Literature or Philosophy, I would recommend try looking at Philosophy department at U of A or at other universities in different province (though depending on province it might be cost prohibitive, as liberal arts studies often doesn't lead to jobs). In that sense Peterson Academy is a valid option for self learning. As JBP says any ordering system is better than no ordering system.

1) it’s not a college
2) the only people who think this are people who didn’t get into a college
Very helpful feedback thank you, I would like to join Peterson Academy but I'm unsure if I can from Australia, is it open for all countries online?
Yes of course!
Is this full time?
It's completely up to you. I have taken 6 courses so far, I spent 1 week doing 3 of them, and I spent another week barely getting through 1 lol, so it's completely on your time.
Any Academy which has Bret Weinstein teaching anything and Peterson teaching Nietzsche should immediately be suspect.
Why?
@@DeepThought8899 B/c Weinstein is a moron and Peterson is not a Nietzsche scholar.
They both have PHDs... do you have a PHD in any field?
@@DeepThought8899 I do. Of course, you have no reason to believe me, this being the notoriously bullshit-laden realm of RUclips comments. But I do, and in a subject that's relevant to my comment, and it's why I can confidently say that Weinstein is a demonstrably bad thinker and Peterson misunderstand Nietzsche. If Peterson gave a course on certain areas of psychology, I wouldn't object.
Then, explain exactly how Weinstein is a moron? I'm genuinely curious

It's the kind of courses where I'd imagine people enrolling are not the kind that would cheat. But idk though.
@@anangelsdiaries If it gets a reputation where it would open up job opportunities, then you'll attract dishonest people. For online high schools, a lot of them have students come to a building to be supervised writing exams. Probably not practical here.

I read “family wide access for a single tuition fee” under dr Warren Farrells video teaser for The Boy Crisis, but I couldn’t find that information anywhere.
Would I be able to have my wife take course too, and get accredited under the tuition I pay?
Ooo fantastic question. From what I've seen, if you only pay tuition to use 1 account, there are no limits to how many devices you can connect to that account. However, I've found that you can only do the quizzes once, so either you and your spouse would have to share or split the quiz taking. I hope this helped and thank you for commenting :)
Thank you for sharing. This video is so inspiring~I am wondering if the courses in PA have subtitles?
Yes they do!
You mentioned that you pay roughly 40 dollars a month, does that mean he has the monthly payment option available or is it still the full annual sum up front?
No, I apologize for any confusion it is a yearly tuition payment. 40$ a month is just what it works out to. Maybe eventually, they will add a 40 or 50$ a month feature for paying the tuition, but currently, it is only annually.
Good job bro, thanks for sharing 👍
No problem 👍
If they have 30.000 students, it seems impossible to hand-grade exams, no?
I hope your right!

@@DeepThought8899Well there’s no way they’d lie about their numbers… on a platform they control… and have an active incentive to make look successful…
So if the university isn't accredited, why wouldn't someone just read the books by himself? It's not like the teachers can take time to answer questions from thousands of students, or help students individually, right?
Well, certainly, if you're an auto didactic learner, you can just read books. I certainly view my self that way, I try to read 3-5 books every week and I'm sure I'm learning more from doing that than attending Peterson Academy or watching lectures on RUclips, at the end of the day if you can passionately read deep materials on your own you can get very far without needing to watch lectures. Whatever path suits you best, pursue that. I just choose to watch lectures and attend Peterson Academy to hear what others have to say, I personally find it useful, but I know others who don't. Sure, the possibility of the Academy eventually getting accredited and getting a Bachelors degree is alluring, but it's not the main sell for me, I'm attending primarily to learn as much as possible. I'm just sharing my experiences, so do what feels best for you. Hope this helped. Thanks for commenting. :)
@@DeepThought8899 Thanks for answering :)
Some people are definitely better at learning while watching rather than reading. And don't stress too much about your degree, I finished college close to reaching my 40s after dropping out in my 20s. Finishing it when you're older is even better because you know what you want to study and what you're passionate about. I studied psychology and Peterson was an inspiration to get me started. 12 rules for life got me through a hard time.
Right now it's difficult seeing him like this, paranoid and supporting a Russian puppet,. This was another lesson he taught I guess, differentiate between the author and his past work.
Well, thank you for the kind words, I appreciate it alot. As far as Dr. Peterson being paranoid and suporting a "Putin Puppet" you have to explain that more for me to understand what you're getting at. @@DeepThought8899 It's mostly related to US politics, how he fully supports Trump now v=l0zxgXgLlJo even though one of his rules in that book is "Tell the truth - or, at least, don't lie." where he spends an entire chapter explaining the importance of telling the truth. That's just one of the many fundamental defects Trump has (such as a lack of moral code) that are not in line with anything Peterson believed or has written about.

It’s a grift that charges people $500 to watch RUclips videos.
Very few RUclips videos have the production or content quality the Academy provides.
@@DeepThought8899 To add to your point. Has anyone ever tried to use RUclips for educational purposes? It is possible and I do it constantly, but having your regular entertainment mixed with your serious educational content is the best way to make sure nobody is thorough on their education.
I completely agree with you
@@DeepThought8899 what do you mean?
I just had Mr grp burn your ass. Sir! Jordan B. Peterson: A Deep Dive into Psychology Education
Jordan B. Peterson has offered countless hours of free, high-level educational content on RUclips, particularly his psychology and personality lectures from the University of Toronto. These lectures are college-level and cover complex topics such as personality theory, myth, and the psychology of belief systems. The sheer volume of this free content is staggering-over 100 hours of comprehensive university-grade education.
Now, compare that with his Peterson Academy, where courses are priced at around $500 each. Some may argue that this paid content seems expensive, but considering the value and depth of knowledge offered for free, Peterson is clearly not withholding critical information. Instead, the Academy serves as a premium option for those seeking structured, specialized content in a more curated environment.
This approach reflects a balanced offering: free foundational education for anyone with an internet connection, while providing a paid, refined platform for those willing to invest in further personal and academic development. The price of Peterson Academy is not about greed but about sustaining the high-quality production and continued access to experts in various fields, something many traditional educational institutions charge thousands for.
In sum, Peterson’s educational offerings-both free and paid-represent tremendous value for those looking to explore psychology, self-improvement, and personality theory in depth.
