- Les sigh. Eponine breaks my heart every single time... but oh how I love her... & this song. This one's near & dear to my heart. My father gave me the original cast recordings on TAPE (haha) of Les Mis when I was in elementary school & this is the song that always grabbed me. When I turned 13, he & my mom took me to see a Broadway Theater League production of Les Mis & I was officially hooked. Eponine has always been my dream role, so I hope you enjoy this as much as I did recording it!

The real kicker about Eponine's situation is that she never truly loved Marius. What she loved was an idea that he represented. And she KNOWS this, but she clings to her "love" for him despite being fully aware that it's false because she feels that it's the only thing she has that's worth living for.
To quote Aragorn from Lord Of The Rings: "It is but a shadow, and a thought that you love."
Eponine truly is the most tragic love story in all of Les Mis.

I can definitely tell that you’ve listened to this song a million times and put a lot of thought into it, because your version sounds different than any other I’ve heard before. I can catch influences of other performances but it’s really your own. Beautiful

Sorry to be an audio geek for a moment, but I absolutely love the vocal treatment on this. I'm not sure what's going on here.. Maybe a new compressor reigning in the dynamics? The quiet passages are nice and forward, and I can hear that soft vibrato. Balanced very well with the backing track. Whilst I'm here, I might as well also say I loved the performance. This song always gets me, and it's worthy of a Brittany treatment :)
I came across some Les Miz songs on YT last night, ended up listening to the various singers of Stars in the plays, quite a powerful song. Which brings me to being pleasantly surprised at you covering this sweet song. Very well done, I enjoyed listening to this Brittany :)
