    I've got the NBD flow 1102 as well on my 2.5" and I'm loving it, it's what I expected to fly after I got it tuned.

    I love GnB batts...theyre super cheap but they always seem to out perform a lot of the more expensive brands. Ive been using their HV 1s packs for about 2 years now. I like the nitro nectars more but theyre only 300mah and 10 bucks a pop last i looked

    very interesting as always, all your tests are so helpful, thanks! and I'm really looking forward to the tests on different sizes of frames (btw, may I suggest you get some sort of wind protection for your microphone? I'm not a native english speaker, sometimes it's hard to understand with all that wind noise. maybe just place it behind a box or something to shield it a bit. thanks again!)

    Thanks for the interesting vids with these different motors and prop setups. I have a bunch of Betafpv 1102 18000kv and thought 2 inch was about as big as they can go but now I'm totally going to try them on 65mm props. I have some 13500kv from an older hx100se, think 2 inch 2s can handle?

    I like the size on that Warpig frame. I prefer a wider frame myself for any super light, floaty toothpicks. That said, it looks like it would have resonance issues. You said you were cutting frames for comparison. are you staying with that design for comparison purposes, or are you going for something stiffer? If they're going to be stiffer, are you going to cut one in the Warpig's size to make the comparisons usable?

    The wires will unsolder from the motor. You can put new ones

  • @theagileaardvark
    @theagileaardvark 2 года назад

    Do the short wired HGLRC motors have PCBs under that heatshrink where the wires connect? It looks like it. If so, it would be an (unnecessary if they had the wires just a tad longer, sure) easy fix with a soldering iron. I see more and more companies having their motor wires connected to PCBs and it's awesome. no more heatshrink blobs mid-wire because you had to lenghten them when switching them over to a different frame.

    • @Quad66
      @Quad66  2 года назад

      I don’t see a PCB but haven’t stripped the heat shrink.

    HQ props makes 2 styles of very good 65mm. One looks like the Gemfans, but balanced. The other is a T motor style hub like those Emax Avia props.
    19000KV is for 31mm props. if you're spinning 51mm/2", 65mm/2.5", or even 3" on 19000 KV motors, they aren't going to work well. it's like starting a car in fifth gear. You would need a much bigger motor to have enough torque to change the speed on the prop. I run 13000kv on 1102 with 65mm props.

    • @Quad66
      @Quad66  2 года назад +2

      This information isn’t very true. The HQ press on lack thrust and efficiency and the T65 lack are often very poorly balanced. Motor torque is a function of the magnet strength, air gap, and stator iron content, not KV. The KV is relevant in terms or efficiency for a given torque. The high KV motor will spin up just fine compared to a low KV, there’s just an efficiency penalty. Matching KV to a particular prop size is not as direct as indicated since the torque and motor geometry will play an equally large role in how fast a motor can spin a prop.

    • @drunkskunk00
      @drunkskunk00 2 года назад +4

      @@Quad66 Well, your information isn't particularly true. My group is testing a 65mm propped drone for production, and the HQ props in testing have all been fine. the press-on have less thrust because they are low pitch. We haven't seen an unbalanced 3 hole yet. While your theory on motor torque would be correct if a "perfect" power supply was used, in practice, A higher KV motor needs more current for the same thrust. That Higher current draw comes up against the resistance of the battery and the ESC, causing voltage sag, and less torque to be made, while producing a more heat, and less efficiency. So in the real world, when powered from a 1s drone battery, if you run too high of a KV, you make less torque.

    • @nettefallefpv1196
      @nettefallefpv1196 2 года назад +3

      @@Quad66 That's not how that works. You have a piece of correct information that you are misapplying to the situation. The short answer is that a stupidly high KV motor being fed through a tiny battery and spinning a prop that is way to big for it will perform like crap compared to the same size motor at a better matched KV for the prop. The long answer is... I really need to make a video on this. there are a lot of factors involved. Chris Rosser covers some of it, but it's worth a deep dive with demonstrations.

    I love those flywoo 1203 so much.
    Otherwise the happymodel 1102 13500kv motors on GF 2040 props are awesome on a smaller 2" build.
    I got some of these 1002 rcinpower motors and built it on a NBD mosquito frame with AZI 40mm props. No bad, but honestly I prefer the slightly bigger 1S builds.
    By the way I'm telling you again to cut some HQPROP 63mmx6 props down to bi blade. There you have your loved 2.5" props that you are looking for. At least as colse as you can get on the market right now.
    I literally own and tested every prop from 1.6" to 3" props on the market.

    • @Quad66
      @Quad66  2 года назад +1

      I tried cutting down the HQ 63x6 and didn’t get great results. I had quite a bit of vibration. I probably could have been more careful cutting and trimming things down but I go through props too fast to put a ton of effort into prepping a prop.
