This song symbolizes the fallout of a broken family brought on by addiction, insecurity, and the inability to let things go. Consequences of abuse run deep. When you lose your kid coz you can't change, and it costs you years out of their life. You feel like a dog, floating in space. Treat the people you claim to love with respect, gentleness, and kindness. You don't want to experience this.
That change at 2:20 when everything gets slower is one of my favorite parts of any song. It’s so catchy and soothing. The base command line also reminds me of David Bowie’s Space Oddity. Love this song
i can’t ever not listen to this song or even this album every once in awhile, honestly discovering boston manor very randomly back in 2016 after my father passed that same year in may was probably one of the best things that happened to me that same year because of how fucking depressed I was, in a way it’s almost like this song and fossa really reached out to me, hope to see you guys on tour one day :)
@@Luke-pk7yb The first dog in space, who died when her spacecraft overheated in orbit. I don't think this song is actually meant to be about her, but Will Wagner's (The Smith Street Band singer) is.
I remember discovering these guys in college in 2017 when Sirius Radio launched the emo project. I remember Boston Manor did an acoustic sesh at a nearby alt rock Radio station at the time because to me, that was big living near Yakima, WA. I sadly couldn't go.
Btw, Laika was a dog, owned by the Soviet Space Program, she was one of the first animals in space, and the first to orbit Earth. Laika died on November Third, 1957, in Low Earth Orbit. Like any of you really wanted to know..
Idk how BM got into one of my favorite playlists and even tho I liked their music I would skip them to listen the same as everyday. One day I gave them the chance and then the name of this song caught my attention, now it’s one of my favorite songs because it gives me feelings for hundreds of things at the same time, makes me incredibly emotional and I appreciate that. Thought that they were playing on VWT this year but sadly they aren’t, now I’m sad, k bye.
I dig this and I guess this is the band/song that 15yold will look back at in 15 years as we (in our 30s) do at likes of Thursday, Senses Fail, Underoath, Saosin and so on and so on. THIS track is going to bring back memories, enjoy the moment!
Just so everyone knows, this song is not directly about Laika, the space dog. The band said this themselves during an acoustic performance of the song :)
Heard these guys on a concert in brussels and i was so surprised how good they were glad they were on tour with good charlotte or i would never find out of them keep going guys u rock !

AS LONELY AS LAIKA. UP THERE ALL ALONE.
YOU MISS THE ATMOSPHERE.
THE STARS ARE NOW YOUR HOME❤😭
I’m calling base command as the last bit of oxygen runs out but, they’re down there softly sleeping, the sun sits over the Pacific region.
This is one of the best songs I've ever heard in my whole life.
Normally not a fan of exaggerations, but I 100% agree with you.
I agree
True
It still is
60 years ago today... Rest in peace, Laika
wtfomgstudios she was a good dog.
She was a good fluff ball
this isnt even about a dog. they confirmed this on their tumblr.
Aaron Quasius doesn't matter
Yanny Tøp it definitely matters.
Every time I think of Laika, the space dog, I always come back to this song. It reminds me of my own dog Tora, and I miss her every day.
As lonely as Laika, up there all alone.
M heart breaks every time I hear this verse.

I discovered this song during 2020. The chaotic music video reminds me of the weird energy during that crazy year.
This song is beautiful, "as lonely as laika" makes me cry every time

i don't know why but this song makes me feel so weird but in such a good way, i hardly experience this with any songs unless they're insanely good
OKAY WHY HAVE I NEVER HEARD OF THESE GUYS BEFORE I'M CRYING WHAT IS THIS BEAUTY

I like that it's titled after the dog. And lyrically centered around sending a dog into space. Love it! :D

This song has been stuck in my head for quite some time and I could never remember who it was by, until now
This song doesn’t have a million hits yet? This is like an anthem
R.I.P. Laika, 60 years have passed. You didn't deserve it. I cry when I hear about her. She was all alone 😢
