      Thank you, curioponics. I'm extremely pleased I was able to grow this exotic fruit here in the UK. It was delicious.

    Very nice trees, Dom. They're loving the London heat island effect.
    The fact that you got good-sized fruit off it is marvellous. I bet it was a joy to eat. I've never tried them.
    I don't think my 'Mc Dud' will ever flower. At least for a very long time. I suspect that Canarius sold me a seedling. I can't see any obvious graft union, although I acknowledge that, in some instances the graft union is not easy to identify.

      tbh Other than short burst of pleasant weather, it's been rather cool in London so far this year. It's warming up nicely now though and next week will really benefit my plants.
      Yes, this White Sapote was really nice. The flavour was similar to a Pear Flan. I definetly feel lucky to have got to try it and can't wait for more. I also have a nice sized Black Sapote tree but since it's a seedling, I may have some time to wait before that fruits.
      Yeah, I won't buy from Canarius amymore.
      Although I have had some good plants from them in the past, they make mistakes and are too far away to fix them.

    Wow, your white sapote trees are doing incredibly well! What a great-sized fruit too! That looked full-sized, incredible for a UK-grown fruit! And it sounds absolutely delicious 😋. I really hope I can get hold of a grafted tree or scions to graft onto my seedling plants eventually 🤞

      Thanks, Peter. I can't explain how over-the-moon I feel with this fruit. It was twice as delicious as the fruit that dropped early. Probably one of the nicest fruits I've ever tried. Hints of vanilla and ripe pear with a rich, creamy, pudding-like texture.
      I'm off to France next week on a plant haul but unfortunately that nursery doesn't stock them. I hope to be going to Italy again though at the end of September so will try and pick up more grafted white sapote there. If I do, I'll grab an extra for you.
      Yes, the size of this fruit was very acceptable. Probably due to only 2 fruit setting on this container grown tree.

      @@MoebiusUK wow, that sounds incredible! Would you say it’s a bit like pawpaw or cherimoya? I loved the taste of the pawpaws that Brett sent me and cherimoyas are one of my favourite fruits.
      Oh, that would be incredible! I’m actually in the south of Spain right now, although strangely I’ve never seen a white sapote tree here. I guess they just haven’t caught on yet. Certainly should have no trouble growing here as nearly everyone grows a citrus tree in their small gardens. I’ve also seen papaya and bananas fruiting too. I have found online nurseries selling white sapotes in Spain though, so there must be some people growing them here.
      I actually received some more white sapote seeds from the US just before I went away, so I’m hoping they will germinate 🤞

      @@PeterEntwistle There will definetly be nurseries selling grafted White Sapote plants in the South of Spain. It's always tricky finding them though, isn't it?.
      Are they like PawPaw and Cherimoya? I would say only vaguely, those fruits are very distinctive in their own right. This McDill, I would suggest is closer to an ultra soft 'Doyenné du comice' or 'William' pear but with a vanilla pudding back-flavour.
      Hope you enjoy your break. Stay hydrated !!!

      @@MoebiusUK haha, yeah it’s always hard to find good nurseries. I don’t think there will be anything around here at least in walking distance. In any case, I came with hand luggage only, so no plants for me lol 😂. Maybe I could manage a cutting or 2 😉
      Ok, I see what you mean, that still sounds incredibly tasty!
      Thanks, yeah I try to remember to drink plenty of water! It’s certainly very summery here!

    Trees both look superb Dom. As you probably know mine completely defoliated after re-potting, probably some sort of root shock. But i suspect with a few days heat that it will leaf out again all over the place. The fruit looked superb and a decent size 😋

    • @MoebiusUK
      @MoebiusUK  Месяц назад +1

      Ah man, no I didn't know your's defoliated after a repot. If you did a video it didn't show up in my notifications. You're right though, it'll leaf out again with the forth coming good weather.
      Incidently, was it a bare-root repot?
      Yes, I'm really happy with the size of that fruit but as I was saying to Peter, it's probably due to the tree only having 2 fruit.
      The taste was so delicious. Far better than the first one that dropped early. I now need to get more varieties.😂

      @lyonheart84 Месяц назад +2

      @@MoebiusUK no I didn't bare-root it , in fact I didn't think I'd disturbed the roots at all as they seemed healthy so I just moved it into a larger pot with soil around it. I didnt do a video on the plant alone I think I may have showed it in the video where I talked about how cold the first 2 weeks of June had been and the affect it had on my plants. From what I've heard the different varieties seem to be very similar in taste and appearance

      It's a delicious fruit but unfortunately not available here in London. You were so lucky getting to eat them while growing up.
