What youre seeing here are highly skilled professionals having a bit of fun with a trend. The ability to shape, colourmatch and completely hide your work takes soo much effort and time I would never believe they actually fix things with ramen. Its a goof and a bit of fun.
I use this concept to fix things. EG: You have a screw hole that has bored out too much and the screw is loose (think cupboard door hinges), stuff the hole with cotton wool then pour in superglue (cyanoacrylate) it sets hard then drill a new hole. If you want superglue to set fast with extra strength - throw bicarb soda on it. Anything that contains cellulose will react and make this super hard and sandable material. Instant noodles contain Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose (CMC) or Methyl Cellulose.
Those are bona fide hacks and very useful. I've had tremendous success using the super glue n baking soda and super glue n cotton balls methods to repair stuff around the house. Never thought that about the noodles tho. Haha
This is a fun trend, but at its heart its just epoxy repair. Its super common everywhere, we just usually use something like wood pulp or stone dust as the reinforcing agent instead of noodles. If you have had an old piece of wooden furniture repaired, it likely has parts that were repaired in the same way.

Well, if you need to fill out a missing bit of a broken plastic - you can use baking soda and super glue in thin layers (warning: hardens instantly and getting really hot, some kind of exothermic reaction). It becomes rock hard, not sure if you will be able to cut, sand or drill it. If you don't want the mixture to harden instantly - you can use table salt instead
The glue reacts with moisture, and baking soda is well known to clump because it pulls moisture from the air. Add to that the massive surface area of a pile of powder, and that is where the heat comes from. The end result of curing cyanoacrylate glue is acrylic, so it is perfectly sandable and drillable if the material used is not harder than the acrylic (like sand).
@@СергейД-х7щ A super fine mist of water, maybe, but a droplet will cause the surface to cure and prevent any glue underneath from getting to the water. With thin enough glue layers, like wiped on with a cloth, it works great. It's just very slow to build up any decent thickness compared to using a powdered medium to wick the glue.
Here's a thing: super glue is hard & can be used as a binding agent, yes. But it does have one drawback: it's fairly brittle once it has hardened & it keeps slowly getting more brittle over time, but worse if you expose it to water even after it has settled it will still accelerate its brittling, which is why super glue should NOT be used for things which are supposed to last, come in contact with water or for load bearing structures. Instead, in constructions super-glue is only good for temporary or auxillary structures before being covered in (proper) resins (epoxy...) or foams or spray on concrete/clay & prototyping (for example in combination with paper mache & wire mesh fencings).

5:40 I’m a trained body repair technician. I’m making it sound fancier than it is but it’s super fun to do. I don’t do it as a job any more but I do it for people around me when they get dents dings and other cosmetic damage. The colour matching is by far the part I find easiest. One of those people that just guess what a colour is before I mix it.
In Australia, we call this art "bogging". You take the "bog" (quick set plaster) and shape it into whatever you need. Old guys like myself are pretty good with this sort of thing because that's ALL there was back in the day. We fixed holes in plaster and 'Fibro' walls, and we resculpted whole sections of our vehicles. I mean, you wouldn't want one of these fixers but they were super impressive. Not one time did any of us think of using noodles as a base. Ya learn something new every day.
Agreed. My Prado fell over on a bush track (no I wasn't the driver) The winch worked and put it back on its wheels. Some blocks of wood and a volkswagon jack pushed the roof back where it should be. A little bit of judicious bog and touch up paint and a new taillight assembly. The repair cost half of what the insurance excess would have been and it was back to normal in 4 days. Super easy. Barely an inconvenience. Probably stronger now than the original.
@@sativagirl1885 joking aside, it's really a good emergency wound closure, my dog cut his paws when we were out shooting, used glue to seal, stop bleeding, and helped on the way to the vet.
@@sativagirl1885 there is "medical" super glue, it's an extra refined version of the normal, was used in several wars. But I and family never had issues with it on deep cuts.
It’d be better just using baking soda with a superglue, that can be used to fix all kinds of things and it gets extremely hard. There’s like a chemical reaction that occurs and it’s quick.
Ahahah That’s really funny, I actually do this as profession, hand paint “fake marble” wood and so on… i might be able to replicate any surface with 25 years of experience or so…. But bloody hell!!! It’d take me daaaaayyys and days and days of work. This guys are either magicians or they done it a billion times!… big respect!😂😅
What you're talking about is called marble and graining, after completing my city and guilds in painting and decorating, I took the option of doing a extra 6 week course in marble and graining as a bonus to my skills. With the right brushes and combs (which are bloody expensive) it takes me up to 2 or 3 days to do a door, allowing for drying time.
Super glue sticks things together, but can't fill spaces unless you add some suitable filler. You can buy special packs that come with a bottle of cyanoacrylate adhesive and a bottle of some sort of finely granulated filler. Or you can use regular super glue and baking soda, or apparently instant noodles. At least with baking soda, it hardens almost instantly, and within a minute it's hard enough that you can use a file to shape it like you might if it was a hard plastic. You can then apply a light coat of straight super glue to "seal" the surface and make it glossy. I have a nice earphone that had part of the shell break, and I repaired it with the baking soda technique a few years ago. It's held up since. I'd definitely use some sort of wood putty, epoxy, Durabond or similar for larger holes, and repair anything structural with proper parts, but super glue + filler is definitely viable for small stuff.
If it's just for appearances, using dry instant noodles as a reinforcing phase for a super glue matrix isn't a bad idea. It's really just a composite material. Reinforced concrete, made with steel rebar, is an example of an artificial composite. Wood and bone are actually also composite materials, but of the natural kind.

This guy then tried to say, unironically, “every car in China is made out of noodles.” For 11 minutes. Repeating the same things he does in every video. With an ad.
Economic problem. Cannot buy ceramic, wood, you name it. When you want something fast, you must do whatever you can to fix it, even it's noodles or food. Mindset that it reaches in a thin strings.
@@conor7154 Err... he immediately said that it was done for clicks and then showed how people can use almost anything (with superglue) look good as new.

soften 2 min noodles with warm water for a minute, drain noodles, chop noodles into smaller bits, mash together with a fork or back of spoon, crack an egg white or two into mix and shape noodles into whatever you can imagine. Air and light exposure will set it rock hard, you can even sand it. Noodles are full of starch, a carbohydrate. In a perfected world we probably would not eat it.
@@maclivingston9268give it a few months and it will probably get moldy after it absorbs all the moisture in the air because they used noodles...............................
It is really just cyanoacrylate that is being used here - a chemical relative to acrylic plastic. The noodles are just a (meme) framework and filler for the glue to attach to since it's not something you can easily build up - it needs some initial support. You could use almost any particulate or porous material for this purpose as long as it will wet ok. Aside from being quite brittle, cyanoacrylate is very expensive by-volume compared to other (much stronger) resin options like polyester or epoxy which you could do the exact same thing with. Superglue has it's uses - but for anyone thinking of trying something like this - just be aware that this isn't a very good tool for the job.
I used paint stripper with dichloromethane and methanol and soaked clean cigarette butts and they melted and smelled like vinegar. The resin hardened into a plastic after it dried. Cigarette butt cotton is cellulose acetate btw. Some people still think its actual cotton or asbestos.
The crushed noodle trick is cool but not new. You could buy wood putty (a mix of glue and sawdust that dries hard) or make a filler for furniture repairs. As said, how good it looks depends on your painting/finishing skills, and even just color matching is tough.
About the whole "fixing anything with noodles" thing. Was it not cirtisized for being a footage played in reverse? As these videos are always(yes always) full of cuts?
well, without cuts you would watch glue harden. even superglue takes a long time to harden if applied _this_ liberally. Of course it's possible that it's all fake, just like the "restoring disgusting stuff found in the wild videos" (nintendo ds, legend of zelda cartridge, guitar, etc.) which made the rounds on RUclips.. I don't think that there is anything about this which wouldn't actually work in principle, though and in the case of the intro scene of the noodle car, it was clearly real.
People that work on guitars sometimes use bone dust and crazy glue to repair the bridge or more commonly the nut, that holds the strings in order. Another useful material is cigarette filters.
One hates to generalize about other cultures, but I think this says something profound about Chinese ways of thought. It's perfectly okay to do a temporary fix, or to fool someone, even though you know it's bound to fail. What a huge social problem!
lol these Noodles videos are fake. you can tell with the sink the shape of the fix isn't the shape of the break. its just painted to look like a fix they are filming a good painted sink and then rearranging the video to look like they are fixing it.
I've always called it "CA" Glue, there is a difference between super glue and CA glue, super is general purpose, CA is for high strength applications, filling and can work with metals, ceramics or glass.
Well, originally, the guy who made the videos was doing it likely as a "running gag", since the videos were not meant to be serious. I know a Blacksmith in the Baltics who puts chilli and pepper into his metalworks, mainly as a way to "Give it some spice". He mentioned a few times that it was a bit of a running joke. Of course, a sizable portion of China has a habit of straight up copying successful products and trends, _without_ fully understanding what they mean or _how_ to use the methods. The guy who patched up his car with Instant Noodles for New Years' day, mainly to hide the hole in his bumper, actually pulled a clever move by not only adding some backing to the noodles through the use of tissue paper, but actually mixed the noodles into the epoxy and added hardener, which is an actual method to both strengthen epoxy structures, while also allowing them to last longer if the reinforcement material is something that would otherwise rot away. That guy knew to use it to repair _Cosmetic_ damage, rather than _Structural..._ Unlike the guy who tried to repair a broken bed with the same methods.
@@Victor-056yeah to me this looks like skilled craftsmen doing a funny video to display their skills and it become a trend.

Yeah but you can't bog a toilet or basin, it's not waterproof lol
Using baking soda etc with cyanoacrylate ( superglue) is a known fix for many things. But noodles, no, and hotdogs has to be a joke.

@zacksmith5963 uh oh found the Chinese shill.
Video magic. Just swap out the tile at the last shot.

It’s very, very obviously not and I don’t get why this guy is so desperate. Someone repaired a car in the cheapest way imaginable and sold it and the buyer discovered what happened.

The noodles will absorb moisture and water. Which would lead to. At least one type of mold growing.
A friend of ours repeatedly repaired my broken washing machine door latch with a mixture of super glue and baking soda, making a rock-like substance with it and filing it down to the shape of the latching pieces that were left. He kept it going for several years that way.
He was mixing that bondo directly on the brick... Is this an example of the Chinese just not caring about making a mess or destroying public property?

😂In usa we make cars out of cars board
Its making me hungry - maybe I will go out and take a bite out of my car....
A fast and portable snack
3:42 are those noodles?
Yea
10:01 that is dumb there is no need for instant noodles when you're going to mix it with Bondo and hardener I mean, why?
noodles are a lucky symbol
Noodles as a filler material are much cheaper that bondo for the whole part.
Weirdly impressive, but as with almost anything Chinese - it never lasts for long.

Yes these are all hoaxes. Just take a before picture, do some sanding, then break the item, pretend to put noodles in etc and play that part first.
thanks mcky tv for this great video
People that work on guitars sometimes use bone dust and crazy glue to repair the bridge or more commonly the nut, that holds the strings in order. Another useful material is cigarette filters.
One hates to generalize about other cultures, but I think this says something profound about Chinese ways of thought. It's perfectly okay to do a temporary fix, or to fool someone, even though you know it's bound to fail. What a huge social problem!
I think he’s just doing it for fun (and clicks).
lol these Noodles videos are fake. you can tell with the sink the shape of the fix isn't the shape of the break. its just painted to look like a fix they are filming a good painted sink and then rearranging the video to look like they are fixing it.
Who knew that Tofu Dreg actually meant tofu was used in the construction?
Cotton, superglue and baking soda combined is a phenomenal repair solution.
I've always called it "CA" Glue, there is a difference between super glue and CA glue, super is general purpose, CA is for high strength applications, filling and can work with metals, ceramics or glass.
I can understand noodles will have some solidifying qualities, but why the sausages?
That guy knew to use it to repair _Cosmetic_ damage, rather than _Structural..._ Unlike the guy who tried to repair a broken bed with the same methods.
....for flavour!! ;)
