- Welcome to Episode 15 of Rockhound Adventures! This morning, the tide was low, the sky was heavy with clouds, and the beach was completely deserted. It was the perfect setting for some peaceful hounding. Join me as I comb through the shoreline to uncover some truly unique and incredible finds left behind by the retreating ocean. Stick around until the end for a closer look at all the treasures we discovered today. Let’s see what the tide has revealed this time
Thank you. State is good enough, but thank you for sharing!
I just love the translucent areas in a lot of the rocks. And the sparkle in some of them is so cool.
Yes! The ones that sparkle are always a treat! I don't normally see the sparkling when I initially find them, so once I get them under the big light and they light up, I get super excited!
When u picked up your 3rd rock, that flat red rock was an awesome rich red color. But you prob have them already or it wasn’t that nice close up. But I was yelling, pick the red one! 😂😂
Lol! I'm always yelling at myself when I edit my videos. 🤣🤣🤣
@@RockhoundAdventuresI bet you are. But the detail in the close ups of the ones you did get, are just incredible.
Very interesting about seasonal rocks. Good stuff!!
Those are some beautiful rocks. I think I like the one at 13:20 the best. The third rock in your show at the end was feldspar, but you probably already knew that.
@@MichiganRocks diddo! That was my favorite find as well! And yes I absolutely love feldspar even though it’s overly abundant out here. The luster is always fun to admire.
Thanks for checking out my channel Rob! 🫶 Big fan of yours and would love to come out and do some hounding in Michigan sometime, especially the yooperlites!
@@RockhoundAdventures If you do come, let me know and I'll point you to some good beaches and other beautiful places.
@@MichiganRocks sounds awesome!! Thanks Rob!
Rob ruined my fun thinking rock 3 was a piece of petrified wood. But I’m glad to learn. What would you have to see for it to be wood? You said more colors. Anything else?
@@jamesskorupa8694 Lol! Texture would be another thing to look for
Beautiful rocks! I find some similar to those around Dana Point
@@OCurbangardener love it! I haven’t hounded the Dana point area. Will make a trip up there soon.
this is beautiful! what beach is it at? thank you
Big nope here. You like all the dark muted stones. I was going...yeah choose that beautiful dark red one! Then the Mossy green ones you tossed. And the milky stones..... sorry. Can't handle it!
Thanks. Those are some great finds. I've been a little discouraged the last few weeks because Torrey Pines has been sanded in, and rock selection has been poor. We need to convene a committee of local rockhounds to name some of these beautiful rocks we find. They are not the traditional agates that can be found by the Great Lakes or the Northwest, but they are no less beautiful. For instance, the clear chalcedony with the olive green inclusions. I think we should call those Kelp Agates.
@@ecks_marks_the_spot LOVE that idea!!!! And yeah I drove down to TP last week and noticed the rocks were scarce. You’ll have to make a trip up to Carlsbad! 🙂
@@RockhoundAdventures Thanks, I will. I need to find a few more white chalcedony stones. Trying to make 400 Survivor Pendants for an upcoming Breast Cancer Awareness event. You don't happen to have any you can spare?
@@ecks_marks_the_spot aw that’s amazing!!! I don’t, but Ponto beach has a ton of them!
@@RockhoundAdventures Thanks. I'll try to make it up there this weekend. I've got the last 300 coming out of the tumbler today but some probably won't make the cut so I need a few dozen more. Thanks for the assist.
Torrey Pines has been a bit scarce for sure. Wondering where else I should go. I joined the SDLS, but they mostly buy slabs fort ehir stuff.
41 seconds ago! Am I first?
Yes! You are the first! 🫶
@@RockhoundAdventuresyay!
Hello. can I ask where exactly in Carlsbad? is it in north point beach? thx
@@Nnnqqq689 I call it north Ponto but I believe it still classifies as south Ponto beach. It’s right next to the Alila resort, but I go to the north side of jetty because there’s less people and more walking distance at high tide. 🤗
I’m curious to know what the rock at 21:05 is. Anyone?
@@OCurbangardener I’m thinking agate with some iron oxide
What state are you in?
@@savagesquirrel9828 California. This particular beach is in Carlsbad CA 🙂
