The sounds are one thing, but then there is the playing. Hallelujah.
imean i could just listen to him all night jeeeez !!! And he is enjoying him self knowing this is real art melody after melody ....beautiful stuff Simon !
Literally everything you play is incredibly satisfying to listen to, mate. You bring the best out of everything - the pedals, the amp, the guitar. I will often go to your videos on youtube just to listen to your playing.
Wow, thanks!
@@PPIMV You're most welcome, and I own several of your pedals. They are magical!
Dang, Simon. Your playing is off the hook. Beautiful. The tone is incredible too. I'm planning to purchase a Page and a Squire D as soon as I can.
Thanks very much Bradley!
Man you play beautifully..binge watching..what an incredible tone and feel you have
Awesome tones Mr Jarrett. Amazing playing too.
Thank you for making sure there was headroom in the audio recording. I can really get the sense of depth available with your rig, tones, and the Power Station.
What a great player and designer you are
Absolutely love my minstrel v3. Cheers!
The EQ Lift Boost pedal is genius! And your playing is crazy gorgeous.
Wonderful video. Got me totally hooked on the Fryette as a power amp. Got one - awesome. It is a great, punchy, powerful tube poweramp and so much more. .... now waiting for my Kingsley pedals :-)
Simon, your playing is as wonderful as ever. Can listen all evening. I use the Squire and Page (passing Bigsky and Timeline) into Power S and I like the tone very much. It sounds very good on all volume settings. At gigs I bring the VHT 2/50/2 instead, even more power and stereo. What a sound stage, so inspiring. In the process of ordering the Maiden, EQ lift, Minstrel and a second Page. But after this, the Bard - wow!
That's all good stuff Martin - lots of nice gear at your disposal....thanks for the kind words!
a bought a jester overdrive boost about 5 years ago still sounds killer.
Glad you like your Jester Jeff!
Amazing timing! I just bought the Power Station yesterday, have a Minstrel and coming up on the list to get a preamp pedal. This is fantastic and hopefully will help me decide on which one!
I went with a Maiden and have no regrets at all, but the Squire sounds quite good in this one, as well.
Seriously thinking about going this route w a couple of tube preamp pedals direct into a tube poweramp ....the tone flexability is mindblowing compared to what you can get from say just one reg tube amp w no effects loop !!
Btw I really dig your playing as well I can sit and listen to your demo's all day and my ears don't get tired of it, you're very expressive in your playing !!
Yes, separate preamps into a nice power amp and good speakers is a great way to go for both tone and versatility...thanks for the kind words - much appreciated!
Hi Simon, hope all is well with you, just to let you know on my board now I am successfully powering the Minstrel 2 with a Strymon Zuma power station. It is powering the high draw pedals, like timeline, digitech freqout, 3 x SKB PS8 power boards also. Its a good power source for your pedals! My Minstrel2 is my main dirt pedal as its so versatile, I also use OCD, Boss DS-1X for specific numbers.. J Rockett Archer for boost. I am mainly using Laney IRT-studio EL84 based amp as more volume controllable than others I have.
Hi Simon, I think you are producing some of the best sonic equipment, bar none, (tone that dreams are made of) .......I just wish this was available in UK !!!! .......all the best to you ........pretty tasty chops too !!!
Thanks Chris!
Stellar work as per usual! I'm always impressed by your ability to give a really accurate representation of your pedals on these vids, shame I can't make them sound as good...
On a side note, I think you should do a couple of vids that discuss your playing in a little more detail - your approaches to soloing, chords/harmony etc. I'll be stealing plenty of these lines anyway!
Thanks Brad....I am going to do some videos about playing and some tone/gear tips and ideas - "Licks, Tips and Tricks"!
PPIMV Cool, looking forward to them!
Man, you play sooooooo great! i watch this for one houre today. And Thanks I learned a lot out of this to play stuff like this. I will contact you soon for info about one of the pedals.
Greatz!
Thanks Koen!
Beautiful tones and beautiful playing. Way to go.
Awesome demo.. Great job
As always, great melodic playing. Very well done!
Thanks Glenn!
PPIMV Any news on the 1w power amp you were talking about? Fryette has a 1w valvulator unit that I’ve been looking at. They make great stuff no doubt. I’d be interested in what you would build. Your stuff is fabulous. I’m really working with the pedals in my system and so far, blown away by the tone and flexibility. Very happy...
Still working on the 1W - honestly I got busy with other projects for a bit, but now I am going to get it done...
Glad you like the pedals!
Too good! Wonderful tones and playing as always.
Thanks David - hope all is good with you!
PPIMV all fine thanks!
I've had my eye on a Power Station for some time now - looking to step away from the loud combos and half-stacks. I saw this posted yesterday and it pushed me over the edge. I found one locally and bought it. I'm running my Page and Squire D to it and it sounds incredible. I like that I can run the Volume on the Kingsleys a little higher - to get the dynamics and bloom. But I can still reel in the volume using the Fryette. It's plenty loud to gig with if needed - and it's smaller than a dvd player (remember those?) I've been a confirmed Kingsley-nut for a couple of years now - and I'm happy to report that the Fryette Power Station is a perfect mate to his amazing pedals. Small size and real tube goodness at manageable volumes - or gig volumes. And you won't find better sounding pedals than Kingsleys.
Glad you like the Power Station (and your Kingsley pedals!).
Do you run your pedals into the effects loop or Line in?
@@Bairov I was wondering the same thing - have you tried both?
@@grendelbear I'm finding i like the effects loop better than line in
@@Bairov Thanks! A post on TGP just suggested the same thing - "The Constables are high impedance outputs but line in on the Fryette PS-100 is low impedance line input so you’ll significantly reduce your output unless you use the high impedance effects return input.". Looks like I'll try that route!
Brilliant stuff. The Powerstation fairs much better that the Seymour Duncan in your other videos.
I totally agree with that.
Thanks Rohan - I will do a comparison between the two power amps soon....
That would be great!
Hi Simon,
I tried to play my Maiden D on a Mesa 50/50 and Celestion G12-65 (with Dumbloid, Zendrive, Harlot V3) the result is superb 👍🏼 I'm interested in the Fryette ps-2a for a compact rig, does the 6L6 power stage reproduce the characteristic sound of a power stage with 6L6 tube?
Thanks in advance!
Lordy Lordy ... is the gear & tone better than the playing or is the playing better than the gear & tone?????
Just here killing time because my Constable comes tomorrow!!!!! I’m deeply curious and excited to find out what the Constable sounds like going into my Mesa 20-20 power amp!!!!
Very tasty playing and great sounds. Does the fryette deliver the headroom and bass of my 100 watt jcm2000 head? Am so much interested in getting the 100 watt tube head sound from a lighter unit.
I would look at the Fryette PS 100 or one of their dedicated power amps....
@@PPIMV Many thanks!
Your playing is very inspiring Simon, and your pedals sound very good! Any dealers in the south of USA?
Thanks for the kind words! We actually only sell direct to the customer...feel free to email through our site: www.kingsleyamplifiers.com
Just got my power station an I'm curious how you are running your rig. Are you going into the effects loop, or the line in of the power station?
Great tone, Simon. Thanks for posting. Would you share what pickups are in your Strat? I especially love your bridge pickup sound.
Thanks Joel....the bridge and neck pickups are the original '64 pickups. The middle is an American standard.
So, how does one connect say, a Maiden to the Power Station? What type of cables does one use, speaker or instrument and what inputs are used on the Power Station? My first guess was instrument cable from Maiden output to "Amp in" on Power Station, but then I thought perhaps it should be a speaker cable... I'm confused!
Plug the output of the Maiden into the input of your power amp using a standard 1/4" instrument cable. In the case of the Power Station it works best to plug into the effects return.
Hello Simon, I have a question about the difference between Master Volume and Master Voltage on, I'm assuming, the Power Amp side. How does this affect pre-amp pedals or time based pedals coming into the return of the FX Loop? I don't know if this is an open-ended question or not. I have noticed that on my master voltage style amp, pre-amp pedals don't get as loud as the normal amp without pedals. Thank you for your time. I sure appreciate your candor on these videos.
Simon; please do a "part 2" with a Constable (and the new 1-watt amp if possible) driving the Power Station. That rig is exactly the set up I discussed with you when I ordered a Constable and got in the queue for the 1-watter. BTW- is that a Power station 1 or 2? I don't think there is a tonal difference but just curious.
I will do more videos of the Power Station with other pedals, including the Constable....plus the 1W power amp.
It is a V1 Power Station, although I understand that the power amp is just the same.
This video is exactly what I plan to do
Fantastic playing as always Simon
just subscribe your channel. inspired by your playing and tone !
I think I need a maiden!😀🎸
Where can one get These Kingsley Maiden's at? Is there a US distributer. I saw one on the Petal Show.
Watchman4u no, buy direct only from Simon himself, well worth the wait. I have a Minstrel.
Is it possible to use overdrive pedals instead of preamp pedals into Power station?
This might be a dumb question, but can I run the Fryette Power Station II as a slave amp for another separate 50 watt amplifier in order to set up a stereo rig? Both amps would be running into their own cabinets. Thanks
Well if your other 50W amp has a line out you can send this line signal to the Power Station input. Or for true stereo you can run a stereo effect out into both amps....just treat the PS as a second amp - could be for stereo or for wet/dry...
Would you say there is a noticeable difference in feel / response compared to the Seymour Duncan PowerStage?
The Fryette has more top end clarity on tap and feels more "open, airy..."...also see new video: ruclips.net/video/K8kWbcI81l0/видео.html
Awesome videos! Does the Power Stage support stereo outs? I want to send audio out from the PS and into a mixer via RCA. Any advice is greatly appreciated!
This video is with the Fryette Power Station, which is mono and has a mono in and mono line out. The Seymour Duncan Power Stage 700 on the other (in a couple of my other videos) is stereo with stereo 1/4" inputs and stereo outputs for both speakers and line outs (these use XLR connectors). You can check this stuff out on their web site of course...
Sorry, meant to type Power Station. Okay cool, so maybe the Seymour Duncan would be better suited for me set up since I need stereo. Thanks for your speedy response!
where did the reverb came from? :)
It's in the video description below the video - I am using a Damage Control Glass Nexus...however I also added a touch or reverb in Logic after the fact.
PPIMV: Sorry I overlooked the section above. Thanks for the info. You make great pedals Waw.
i don't understand what these do
Preamp pedals sculpt the tone of the electric guitar before it hits the power amp, which drives the speaker. For more, check out this: ruclips.net/video/Ew9c9fRNHgw/видео.html
