  • Regular doctors dispense first aid. Dr. Barbara Sturm, on the other hand, dispenses first-class aid. The Düsseldorf-based physician is an unparalleled globe-trotter, zipping around the world to administer bespoke treatments to the likes of Kim Kardashian, Emma Roberts, and Angela Bassett. Wherever Sturm touches down, a flock of eager, would-be patients follows. So what’s the draw?
    Well, it could be that she’s a great advertisement for herself-her passport (thick, wrinkled, peppered with unusual marks) is the opposite of her complexion (unlined, porcelain, poreless). Or it could be her record of employing unorthodox therapies to spectacular effect, like the time she healed Kobe Bryant’s knee with his own blood (it’s true, Google it). Another factor: the wild popularity of her eponymous skin care line, in which the Teutonic simplicity of the products’ names (“Face Cream”) belie their efficacy. But above all else, Dr. Sturm is an excellent hang, kind, tolerant, witty and in possession of an excellent bedside manner. Which, given the jetlag she must endure, is no small feat.
    There is, however, one small downside to Dr. Sturm: good luck getting an appointment. Which is why we approached her with a proposition: let us film you treating a patient-in this case, VIOLET GREY founder Cassandra Huysentruyt Grey-so that we might benefit en masse from your wisdom. In this House Call, the jet-setting German physician dispenses treatments and advice for clear, glowing skin.

    She’s making a lot of pretty bold statements... for example, by using her products the cells will not die... did she just claim to have found the fountain of youth?

    I love that she shows to put it on the back of your neck. I hardly ever here people speak about putting products on the back of your neck, especially if you have short hair or pull your hair off your neck.

      Julie Smith I've found some great affordable options, pretty sure they're each $20 or under (and have been tested and recommended by a dermatologist, and as an esthetician I agree 😊)- CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser, also their Moisturizing Lotion and Cream, their SPF, and PM Facial Lotion. You can get further hydration by using either Neutrogena Hydroboost (extra dry skin version is fragrance free), Hada Labo Skin Plumping Gel, or even Hyalogic Episilk Facial Mist. The trick with the hyaluronic acid is to put it on wet skin after your second/last cleanse, and gently rub the water and product in, then follow with moisturizer.

      That's actually not true. Violet Grey now offers Quad Pay(it's not credit) it allows you to pay for your order in 4 payments. Beautylish also offers Dr. Barbara Sturm products and offers Flex Pay-Flex Pay with Beautylish(I have been a client there for years..similar to Violet Grey it's a curated site with tons of gorgeous options in different price ranges but all wonderful) Flex Pay allows you to pay for your order split into three payments(in three consecutive months) you pay the first when you place the order, your order ships, and then you will be automatically charged the consecutive two payments. With Violet Grey, I forget the timing of the Quad Pay and when your next payments will be charged (to your debit/credit card) but it outlines it when you order. It really does pay to invest in beautiful skincare. Even if it's just a couple of products-if you utilize them regularly you will really see results. Violet Grey is wonderful-they have The Violet Files, which is an ongoing edit and it allows you to find out which products fit best for you. I really prefer and love to have a smaller collection that I really love(for both makeup and skincare) than having a bigger collection of products that I don't really love/products that don't work very well. Violet Grey has a lovely concierge service where you can ask questions about products. Beautylish has a fantastic team-they are wonderful and very customer oriented and you can chat with/email them and a member of the team will consult with you and give you recommendations based on your own skincare concerns. You can always find a few investment items and then other items to round out your collection that are very effective yet still affordable. But I just wanted to mention those options so you can treat yourself!

      Also, to add to my previous reply re: the Quad Pay, not every product on Violet Grey is ultra expensive. They have tons of beauty edits. And the point is creating a cosmetic wardrobe that you love based on products that are expertly curated. So there is definetly a range. I find I like to have a smaller collection that I really love rather than shopping based on what's on trend each week. That's why I do always shop at Beautylish(also offering Flex Pay) and Violet Grey. I have certain products that I've found that are investment worthy, and the edits on Violet Grey and Beautylish make that easier. When it comes to makeup, I really love Natasha Denona palettes for shadow. Yes, one of her palettes cost about 2x the amount of the average palette at Sephora, but the quality is so worth it. I have several I love versus tons

      joie lewis that’s probably because she never wears makeup and hasn’t had Botox or fillers in her face. Most women coming into their 50s, that are well known and or famous get a lot of work done, I think she’s aging gracefully

      Lauren Jane grow up, it’s not because she’s an American she just is being rude. I lived in France and Germany fir awhile and you can find rude and obnoxious people anywhere. It depends usually on being raised with manners. Stop lumping all people who live in the states with this rude woman

      Rebecca I don’t use her products so I wouldn’t know, you have read what you want to read, it’s not what I wrote but as long as you’re happy that’s fine, kindly leave me alone and go and misread someone else’s comments. I’m not quite bored enough to have this pointless discussion quite yet.

    Should a 20 years old person use this products? I am wondering because the plant that she uses is anti-ageing and I thought for a young person anti-ageing products are not good.

    • @EMSpdx
      @EMSpdx 6 лет назад +7

      No! Clean your skin, use sunscreen and use a gentle serum with retinol. You don't need this expensive stuff.

    • @TheVioletFiles
      @TheVioletFiles  6 лет назад +9

      A 20-year-old can definitely use these products. The herb purslane runs through the entire line and helps to calm inflammation, which any age can suffer from. The Dr. Sturm products we would recommend for younger skin include the cleanser, mask, hyaluronic serum, calming serum, and glow drops.
