I followed this tutorial for what seems like 6 hours... but I found another way to make this happen within 10 minutes by using corner pin and creating a mask on the same (new screen) layer, feathered the mask and setting the mode to "screen" to create the screen glare effect. This method worked way better for my needs, good luck everyone.
Pro tip: Duplicate your replacement layer and drag your 2nd screen replacement footage overtop the keyed corner pin layer while holding ALT. This will replace the footage while maintaining the corner pin key.
Hey man! Sorry for the late response, what transitions specifically would you like to see from that video? Please dm me on instagram if you can, youtube doesn't notify me about new comments these days :/
Ty for puttin in the time to do this @Drew Kocak ...I'm gettin carpal tunnel putting in mad editing hours to get better and these tutorials are helping all us new filmmakers! I'm sure it took awhile to record so I appreciate u ...and btw nice intro brother 🔥🔥🔥
You’re welcome brother!! This tutorial was actually the longest I’ve ever recorded filming time-wise. Just the 4k clips of me talking were 60gb 😅. Appreciate you noticing and showing love to the new intro!! 🤘🏼
this is insane! really love your tutorials, but couldn’t you just stick some markers on the tv, 3d track them and put the clip of the display replacement sticked on that?
I come back to your channel for awhile... and the level you have grown is mind blowing! Good job Drew! Hopefully I have the motivation to get back into creating stuff like this again. Hope you’re staying safe🙏🏽
Thanks for this tutorial! Wouldn't it be possible to use CC Lens Distortion on the corner pin to compensate for the lens distortion and cover those middle parts of the TV? this would be basically instant compared to manual masking
Wouldn't it have been easier to use tracking points to track the replacement area and then using the data to apply on the replacement clip so you don't have to adjust everything manually?
i have a question , lets say i want to do this but using my phone as the screen and my fingers move across the screen as well, how do you do that replacement ?
Hello Drew! Been binge watching your tutorials. Great stuff!!! Do you think this particular effect would be easier with mocha? Would love to see you working with that, the way you explain things.
Hey man, I appreciate you supporting my videos 🤓. It probably would be easier but I’ve yet to learn it in depth really. I did attempt to use it with this shot once after the fact and the mask kept flying all over the place but I’m not sure I was using it optimally
Hello, why didn't you just motion track that corners and then parent that null trackers information to the pins? It has a lotta contrast info, you'll save time by this. You're welcome ;)
@@HONYCZ because there actually wasn't enough contrast (due to the corners being black on black) to get a good track or 3d track unfortunately. And the amount of perspective shift in the shot was also messing with it.
@@drewkocak you could 3d camera track the wall behind it, (put some tracking marks from tape in case of bad track) and then only shift the solid layer in the z direction
Should've used mocha AE, and some white tracking markers on the screen, it would've been alot easier and faster but this is good of you don't have the option
lit tutorial, btw how is your workflow do you use premiere and put some clips with aae replace and render the finished project in premier or do you make some clips in aae render them and put them into premiere pro to finish the whole video?
Thank you!! Typically I cut things together in premiere, then dynamic link to AE. Occasionally though, I’ll start in AE then link it to premiere after the fact to do sound design
Do you really have to hit your keyboard that hard? It's annoying to hear that Fkng Enter key as if it were a 1990 accountant keyboard. hahaha. Nice tut btw. Thanks!
This guy is insane , wish Drew will pin my comment
😉
@Drew Kocak Thanks sir for enlightening me it helps me a lot and thanks for the pin

My man!! I remember you! Appreciate ya still tuning in. Get out there and create the stuff you love man, just don’t stop and it’ll all work out 😉
have you considered using mocha pro plugin? It's time saving

Or just 3D track the whole scene, select points on your tv, create solid plain, resize it, replace that with video and boom you've got that.

One day bro! 🤘🏼
damn bro just the intro hooked me, subbed, you a boss bro thanks for the inspiration

I think this can be done with the green screen too pretty easily.
But appreciate your hard just look at the key frames 👌👍🔥

@@drewkocak thanks a lot, drew!
Great video. How long did this take you to complete in real time?
Maybe an hour or two, it was quite a bit ago
@@drewkocak OK thanks. It looked like it would have taken longer. But that's cool. Thanks for responding.
What is the shortcut key you are using to add the keyframe?
None! Just moving the corners creates the keyframes
Damn it look insane.
Thank you bro!!! 🤘🏼
OMG you did it drew, thank you so much :D
Hope this helps brodie!! 🤘🏼
Bro how did you shake the screen when lightning Hits?
Wiggle position effect + motion tile bro!!!
Very cool my friend hope you can continue🌹🌹
I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon!!
hey
can i know were are u finding sound affect ty
I get my sound effects from soundstripe!
Absolute Beast!
Thanks bro 😅
Have you heard about tracking?
Have you had enough experience editing to know the fact that tracking fails sometimes, especially when the edges youre tracking are both black?
@@drewkocak if that's the case there's always a turn around method or a pre planning before shoot always saves the day.
Are you literally going frame by frame? You said every keyframe, but not sure how you determined the keyframes?
what if the tv has curves
Step 5 of method 2 covers this! Just need to add extra vertices to your mask
@@drewkocak ahh okay thanks homie
@@Joshholmes2522 happy to help!
Happy birthday
Thank you bro!
