  • "Carol of the Bells" by David Foster.
Original xLights sequence, 2022 season. Our first season with RGB pixels, the display includes a "forest" of three megatrees, six minitrees, and twelve microtrees. Trees are 20, 15, 12, 6 and 4 feet in lighted height, elevated another two feet from ground level to keep the armadillos from eating cables.
The trees contain 10,412 pixels total:
    20 foot: 32 strings of 84 px = 2,688 px
    15 foot: 28 strings of 65 px = 1,820 px
    12 foot: 24 strings of 50 px = 1,200 px
    6 foot: 16 strings of 25 px = 400 px each, 2,400 px overall
    4 foot: 12 strings of 16 px = 192 px each, 2,304 px overall
House outline includes 600 C9 Brilliant Bulb pixels to accommodate our previous mounting system.
"Forest power" is supplied by a dedicated 120/240V feed to a subpanel with six branch circuits, powering a dozen MeanWell LRS-350 5-volt power supplies. Falcon Player on a Raspberry Pi 3 runs the show via a dedicated wired Ethernet network and twelve SanDevices E682 and E6804 controllers.
Apologies for the video quality. This is a very difficult challenge due to problems with PWM dimming interfering with digital image sensors. Color fidelity isn't even close to the actual LEDs and we've not overcome the moire effects.
Thanks to Victor Johnson @LightingUpPaxton for inspiring us to enter the world of animated Christmas displays.
