This is a really great tutorial. I really learnt a lot about jq from it but the example explaining if/then/else was really funky. I mean finding out if a decimal number was odd or even. What is that? I would recommend changing this example as the student is thinking "Why would anyone do that!?" which distracts from the actual point being made.
next time can you write out the entire command? Not everyone is versed in awk or grep and I had to try all sorts of different variations of the commands which made this tutorial a bit difficult than had you just written out the entire command. For eg at 22:27 you say,"So here's a short script that makes a list." but your screen shows 86,99,13. How is that a script? what is the actual command?
This jq looks complicated and dangerous.
... and loving it.
