    I absolutely love the homegrown dynamic of the Roots/Soul. I would love to see the A's actually owned by such a civically minded group that stands in line with what Oak Town is all about. When I think Athletics I think Billyball, Rickey Henderson, Dave Stewart and Dennis Eckersley, East Bay legends who've contributed largely to the legend of this franchise. Its a damn shame what this ownership has done and truly the lowest common denominator when it comes to respect for the fans. You CANT BLAME the city, and you CANT BLAME the Fans.
    I'm not from Oakland, I'm from the south central coast in one of the few working-class cities of my area. I identify with the blue-collar ethos of the team and I know when a crappy business runs its people to the ground. My town bent over backwards to a stupid Amazon distribution center, fronting millions for the infrastructure with the hopes of developing jobs for local people (Boy was that a huge lie) 6000 People layed off in January.... And thats how the Money Ball A's have been running this franchise and destroying the credibility of what this team stands for. I was looking at the beginning of the 2023 Season, like it was Oakland in 1980 with a young team and Billy Martin giving hope to a beat up franchise, but no.. Its all turned into a horrible nightmare.

    Once the A's are gone, couldn't the soccer teams play in the coliseum with the football configuration on Mt. Davis and tear down the circular portion of the stadium?

    This makes me ask the question, why has no one ever suggested that the A's build a new ballpark on the current property. There is plenty of acreage on the current site with parking lots and the arena. They could take a wrecking ball to the arena and use the site that they currently have to build. Everyone in the city government has focused on Howard terminal when they already have the current property. Why hasn't this ever been proposed?

    • @mrofiggy
      @mrofiggy Год назад +1

      That has been mentioned many times but the A’s and MLB said Coliseum site was a non-starter. They want housing with development and the A’s know no one is going to pay above $3k for a rental in East Oakland

    Soooo....why not move into the Coliseum once the A's are gone? The A's may well be gone by October. That will be long before they can get a temporary stadium built. Even if the A's stick around for another year or two, they still won't be able to get something built that soon.

      @@demonatemu A soccer field is 80-120 x 55-75 yards. A football field is 120 yards x 53 yards. The Seattle and New England MLS teams (probably more) play in NFL stadiums, so I don't see why they can't fit a soccer field in the Coliseum.

The Raiders were damn near at the same level in the AFL back in the day: even worse, they didn't even have a stadium and played in SF for a FEW years including at Candlestick Park... Soccer is the HOT sport in America, and will continue to get bigger according to massive youth participation and rising MLS and USL attendances... MONEY talks, not broke fans opinions...
