I think this really depends on the climate of the country. I live in India and the yellow, orange lights make us feel like daylight i.e. very hot, not so relaxing.
Led are the worst. They give off harsh blue light which can mess with your circadian rhythm and sleep. Old style incandescent bulbs have a nice warm glow. If you can find them buy them.
@@amarketing8749or adjustable led lights that you can dim or change color, I’ve found those relaxing too and are better for the environmental than incandescent lights:)
@@amarketing8749there are warm light LED’s as well (look for low Kelvin). I only use those (with two exceptions. One old incandescent light and one with adjustable colour temperature, where I use the blue-white when cleaning and the warm all the other time).
Love it! Can you please do a video on accent walls? A wall with a striking color to add interest into the room and add appropriate contrast. I really want one but I don't know where to palce it
There's probably science behind that which is why you saying that but it's preference, I don't like warm lights in my bedroom as an example, im sure most people don't want super cool lighting or it won't feel at home or relaxing like you said. But since it's a spectrum, I get lights that are on the cooler side of it
hmmm i hoped you'd say something about warm light vs. cool toned light in living spaces.. cool led light makes any space feel more like a hospital. i wonder what are YOUR thoughts 🤔
I usually put a table lamp on the floor. It gives off a nice level of light without feeling too bright when it would be on a table, though it's placement isn't necessarily the most practical
Light that is directed at a surface which bounces light around the room. For example, my light fixture has a frosted bowl shape. It lets a little bit of light through the glass but it mostly bounces back onto the ceiling and then around the room. For a lamp it would be in a corner or on/facing a reflective surface. Like a white piece of furniture
One time my mom sent my brother to get a new bulb and never specified which type. This idiot brought a purple light bulb for the bedroom and it looked like we cultivated weed😂😂😂
"We all have overhead lighting" You've never seen my house 😂 No overhead lighting in the bedroom or the living room. And yes, it was built like that. 70s or 80s I think? I went on Amazon and bought a plug in overhead light for my room. The kitchen and the two bathrooms are the only rooms that have overhead lighting (other than the basements three exposed bulbs and light over the pool table).
Geez, who can afford overhead lighting these days?! I flipped off the breaker switch for those overhead lights over 10 years ago and saved over $40/month on my electric bill. Try it!
Pro tip: have the lights by your feet in case birds, monkeys, or snipers come after you. They will go for your feet instead of your head and you can kick them out the window! Now you know!
People like those Edison bulb lamps or whatever they're called. They're quirky-cool, yes, but more suited for a higher-energy place than a restful bedroom.
I thought by the end you would say NO LIGHTING, THE BEDROOM IS FOR SLEEPING!
God forbid you try to change at night
With a So Now You Know! :)
really? cause i live in my bedroom
read this with his voice
Bro looks strong af
because he is "strong af" 💀?
he has the craziest sleeper build ive ever seen
NOW YOU KNOW!
He be moving furniture everytime
The veins too
I think lighting color is also important, a yellow or orange light will be better for sleeping but a white light will be better for reading.
But you cant mix temps so pick one!
@@jessmtnz Could get an multicolor LED lamp and set two presets, one for reading and one for sleeping.

never realized how important lighting in making a room look cold and depressing or warm and homely

My light is the warm glow from eyes in the closet. They're mine. Goodnight.
I hate warm lighting. It makes rooms feel dirty. It's entirely personal preference. My decor is all cool colors
Thank you! I'll never understand how some people prefer white light, it feels like you're in a garage or industrial setting
White light gives me hospital and store vibes. They really suck for homes
Lighting is everything.
My trick? Take that task light lamp and aim it at the white wall. Voila! Ambient light!
I have two bedside table lamps with candle bulbs. So it looks like they're nice candle light, minus the fire hazard.
I love your new episodes on lighting. It’s tough to get right.
I need a “Cliff’s home decor favorites”doc please. 😁
He has book on feng shui!!
Get a warmer toned lights or led lightbulbs that can be dimmed/ go warm or cool
Sheng fui wearing your glasses under sleep mask.
It’s your expressions for me. 😂😂
Love the lamp ❤
Two lamps beside the bed with soft warm 25-40ish watt lightbulbs. Halogen would be best imo. The wall color and lampshade plays a big role too.

lovely shoulders! ...and now we know! : )
White light is harsh. I prefer warm yellow light. I just use Christmas lights.
Always use natural light even in night ❤

Well when you live above the polar circle you really have to try
What would reflected lighting look like? Are those lamps?

any video on wall colors for small rooms to make them look/feel bigger or spacious
I've got a large led panel that outshines the sun. =D
Best to avoid any lights on the blue end of the spectrum before sleep.
And WARM light

I got rid of overhead lighting in my room a few months ago after I realized I never used it, kept my ceiling fan, and I'm happier!
I love how anti-overhead lighting he is.
Overhead lighting is the worst

Unfortunately, yes. I have an ex who had a huge gorgeous home that he destroyed every night with cold, overhead, bare bulb lighting.
