- So after Beats just released the EP I wanted to do a comparison of their other wired on ear headphones the Beats Solo 2 to find out which one is better. Can the $129 Beats EP actually be better than the $200 Beats Solo 2?

Great! So, the main difference between the Beats Solo2 and the Beats EP is that the solo2 is wireless and the Beats Ep has the cord. With the Beats solo2, you don’t have to reach for your iPhone to change the song or playlist through the connectable RemoteTalk Cable. Thought the Beats EP is battery free so you just grab and go.

That is indeed correct. There is a version that is wired and wireless. The wireless model has the RemoteTalk wire that connects to your iPhone that allowed you to make and receive calls and controlling audio. The same for the Beats EP.

Only the Beats Solo2 have the wireless option, the Beats EP have the wire.

So, what is the difference between EP wired and Solo2 wired?
APPLE CHAT:
There really are not that many differences besides the wires, to be honest. The head band is different on the two models, the Beats Solo2 has a more curvet top fro enhanced comfort and the Beats EP has the adjustable sides for added comfort. They both have the same sound quality because they are made by the same company.

What accounts for the price difference?
APPLE CHAT:
It is the fact that the Beats Solo2 are wireless, and they are the special Luxe edition.
ME:
I'm trying to compare to the Beats Solo2 that I already have (wired) and the Beats EP, that I am considering as a gift.
APPLE CHAT:
It is basically the same version that you have of the Beats Solo2, because they just added gloss to the beats and added sound quality equal to the Beats EP.
ME:
So, they are equal in all respects?
APPLE CHAT:
Just about, they have almost equal sound quality and comfort. They are indeed made by the same company so it is not odd that they would be almost identical.

So, I'm still left wondering about the price difference...
APPLE CHAT:
The price difference is coming from the Luxe addition for the Beats Solo2. It is a new model of the Beats Solo2, so that is where the price difference is coming from.
ME:
The regular Solo 2 is more expensive than the EP.
APPLE CHAT:
That was the first Beats Solo2 so it is going to be the same price as the New Luxe addition because it is the shiny new product. I am very sorry for the price difference inconvenience.

I don't think you understand: The Beats EP are $129.95 and the Beats Solo2 (not Luxe) are 199.95.,

They are going to be more expensive than the Beats EP because the Beats Solo2 (both models) are ‘classier’, if you will, than the regular Beats EP. The Solo 2's are the better buy considering retailers are selling them for cheaper now, not to mention a detachable cable, whereas the EP will die once the cable sustains enough damage, especially the portion right before the headphone earcup as that area will usually be the part of the headphone that deals with the most stress.

Bra the solos have gone up in price by 50$ get it right the eps are way better due to the sound quality because most people buy beats because of the base in them and the solos are even more fragile in the first place making them easier to break.

I noticed that too the cheaper ep sounds much better than the more expensive wireless beat😂😂 I thought it was just me. So I went and bought the ep.
Which has the best noise isolation, i don't wanna feel the need to turn the volume up too high when i'm in the car/bus/train 😂

This video is perfect for me because I am still deciding between this 2 headphones. The main issue that I've seen on reviews, regarding the EP ones, are the low quality from the Cord, there are many people who bought the EP and said the Jack broke, so if you have this on problem on the Solo 2 you just change wires, but on th EP, to repair it's more complicated.
There's a $2 difference between the two headphones in my country, with the Solo 2 more expensive. I think I'm going to buy the EP's, the Solo 2 is too expensive :P
Get the Solos man. Eps will hurt your ears AND have less padding
The EP's don't hurt my ears at all man, and this is coming from someone who has stretched ears and two industrial piercings. One of the worst ear piercings to have for headphones.

I just got the EP for my birthday. Super nice! The bass could be more though, my only complaint. Maybe I just say that cuz I'm used to my other expensive audio systems with insane bass haha
that is what I think made them great. They didn't have to overdo it in bass like most headphones and they still had plenty of punch
The Beats Solo 2 are much more impressive than the EP when the volume is turned up believe me.

guys btw if u buy the EP take so much care of where u place ur headphones and how u handle as i have a friend of mine who cut the wire when he pulled it hard,imagine ruining such expensive headphones , honestly i would be mad for a very good amount of time😅😂😂

I wish every wired headphone jack was an L shape because I feel I break straight jacks a lot more

Btw nowadays the ep's are more. You can get Solo 2 for like £30 on eBay.
The EP has a nice steel band, the solo has nice hinges, but they don't sound all that great , and for the price the EP doesn't have a removable cable(designed obsolense in mind) also the solo 2 are light but the plastic is ridiculously thin and extremely prone to scratching the gloss finish. I did enjoy the review, very articulate on the features and what you get , I found the EP to have a smaller stage and looked like it had 30mm driver to the solo 40mm so the bass response wasn't as prevelent.
I bought the solo 2 and just love them so much I never have them off my head love the sound and I don't think there to flimsy

At Best Buy online in Canada the beats ep is on sale for $89.99 some places $84.99 same at Walmart different from the $129.99 price
questions: what about solo 3 vs beats ep? since you can buy solo 2 on sale for $99 several times a year including black Friday, which would you choose then between these two headphones?
+LoboLouie2 I haven't tried the solo 3 yet but between the solo 2 and the EP they sound very similar. I would say the EP has better bass but maybe the solo 2 has a cleaner sound. They sound too close to pick one over the other but I like the build and the feel of the EP better

For any audiophile who hates beats, what a good alternative to beats ep which are cheaper, better build and better sound quality. I'm looking at some new headphones and I saw some beats ep for $95 AUS, I just don't want to make the mistake of buying the wrong headphones.

had the beats EP for about a year until the non-removable cable gave out... anyone interested in Solo3 or EP i’d recommend dropping a couple extra bucks for the Studio3 👍🏾
My dog chewed the wires on my Beats ep and now only the right side works.
Now the ep can be found for 80, so pretty good price for the quality, we still pay the brand but thats nice

They’re close but the EP’s sound a bit , slight bit better. But the Solo 2 feels much better , the EP’s sound sound louder and just so ever slightly clearer. But the EP’s don’t feel secure at all. I mean they do and don’t but the Solo 2’s feels way more secure. Both have a bit to much Boom in the bass just a bit , but the EP’s mids are good. Could be better but good , because the Boom of the bass is a hair to loud it will bleed over but it won’t really bother you but it will. I don’t think either of these are worth 100 bucks. And the EP’s are cheap on Amazon right now. Good review tho

4:50 the durability would be better on the ep BUT, the cable is attached so if it breaks you are done
2GF Studios ... if the EP cable brakes you can always install another one...or a 3,5mm jack port. If the solos headband brakes... then you are done.

My EPs dissapointed me. They worked great for 3 monthes of everyday use until the cord started fraying and they died on me

Okay, the solo2s are better in many different ways e.g they are more comfy, exclude More sound then the EPs due to larger ear cups. The EPs are less comfy and don't exclude much sound at all. The build quality is better on the solo2s and they are more travel efficient since they fold up, if you purchase a pair of EPs then I suggest you buy a stronger case on amazon that fits them since the cloth won't do anything to stop them from being damaged. When he said "the studios leak the most sound" I was like 😮 what is he saying?? The studios are designed to cancel out all external noise and leak nothing since they are over ear design headphones. In my opinion the solo2s look nicer and have a good design to them (especially the luxe edition) , and the EPs have a okay..ish design in my opinion since they show that metal piece sticking out which I don't like. And as Apple said they are supposed to be "affordable beats" only being £60 in the uk and now $80 in the USA so it is obvious which pair is better. But it all comes down do personal preference. I own a pair of solo2s and my friend has the EPs which i have tried out many times.
