It depends on the sight and the round used. Likely a round large enough to go through the sight, would also breaker the entire optic. Would likely be taken out of commission because of shrapnel in eye and damage to orbital socket, but I don't know anyone who would rather shoot a sight instead of the head literally surrounding it.

Finally, he saw the scope glint, fired at it, found the body, and discovered his round went right through the scope. Seeing the glint suggested the NVA sniper had Hathcock in his sights, but Carlos got the shot off first.
at the distance in the film it is actually an impossible shot. the rifle round would be dropping down by the time it reached the scope, so the bullet wouldn’t have gone through the glass but it would have hit the top or bottom.
I've seen bad physics assumptions, but damn yours is one of the worst. The shot in the movie was like 150 feet, not even a ww2 rifle would have more than a centimeter or 2 of drop at that distance. Not to mention with how fast the bullet is going, even if it isn't perfectly lined with the other snipers scope it won't hit the top or bottom of the scope if it wasn't going to to begin with, and even if it did it would just tear through the scope and still kill the German sniper.

They used a compound scope instead of a fixed scope which would be much more common; this has been verified as possible as the fixed scope has far fewer lenses. Mythbusters is unfortunately historically bad in their firearm knowledge.

The round drops down as soon as it leaves the barrel… this isn’t Battlefield 2042. Bullets don’t work well against gravity. :(
