I really like all your views and comments. They help me understand why you do some changes you do instead of just a list of adjustments that my not work due to body shape, fabric, bias, etc. I find your videos, insights and comments so helpful. Please keep them up. Thank you ❤️
Never change, I love your explaining why you do things. It has made me consider more how I will go about jobs more. Plus sometimes I just like listening to you while I'm actually sewing, so win, win for me. I prefer the altered not hi-lo version!
Your explanations are insightful, instructive, and exceedingly valuable. And your comments about choosing your battles is particularly well-taken in certain circumstances. Once again, thanks for a wonderfully informative video. YVR
I like the dress after alterations - the new hem looks better than the high/low (I think)...you never talk too much 😊 I really appreciate all of your comments and explanations
Thanks, I like the dress with an even hem and I really like that you talk through all the steps. You don't talk too much. I look forward to your useful, intresting and helpful videos and have recommended them to sewing friends
Exactly what I need to do with my friend dress. My friend as a scoliose and her spine is curved like an "s", so her dress is much longer on one side, I was wondering how to correct it and here you come exactly when I need your experience. Thank you so much, your teaching are always at the right moment for me. 🧡 Continue with your comment, I like that.
I really like the dress both ways actually... I like hemlines that are asymmetrical because I find them more interesting, but love the end results as well. Totally appreciate the extra information because when it comes to higher hips, one of my own is higher and I struggle with a lot of uneven-ness in my body... these are things I never really consider when I alter my own clothing for my body, and I am sure they would make a major difference in the end results. Thanks for putting the extra time into these style videos. Greatly appreciated!
I love your videos alone with EVERY added extra tip, trick, and ALL of your added thought process. It helps me learn so much. Thank you thank you ❤️ btw.... I like it straight 😉
Thank you for producing these videos, as they are very helpful. I am doing alterations for customers as a side job and these explanations are valuable. I laughed when you said this profession is touchy touchy. Again thank you for verbalizing your experience and thought process with us.👍
I am so thankful for this video. I had an alteration to do on a similar hem a few days ago. The hem was not even and I had a challenge. Most mass produced garments are not accurately measured. Clients think alterations are all easy and most of them can’t sew either.
I love your blouse! I always appreciate the thought process as well as the actual altering process. It supports me in making my own choices for things that you may not have shown us yet.
I totally enjoy your explanations and value the thought process that you teach. You help clarify each technique and this makes you a great teacher. Thank you for your info. and professional approach for those of us that really enjoy the ins and outs of tayloring.
I love your explanations. I either go, yess! I was doing that right! Or, so that’s how you do that! Or, far out, i’ve beed doing that wrong! No wonder i had so much trouble. They are very helpful. I love the skirt of that dress, especially the way it appears to have more back gathering from the shirring, it looks bustle-ish, i also like it better level. Personally, I can’t say i’m a fan of that style of bodice. Thats just my opinion though. It looks perfect fine on a lot of people, just not me 😬
😅😅😅 That made me giggle haha, I might not be right 100% of the time but I do try to share my thoughts based on what has worked best for me & customers over the years. Cheers! 🥰
I love your explanations - knowing the why helps cement the method to my memory. And, as a more mature woman, I prefer the high/low for women 35 and younger.
I love to watch your alterations. I have only been sewing about 4 years. To make extra money (on SS) I started taking in alterations. Whew! I guess you can believe the different kinds of clothes I have gotten. If it were not for you and a few others, I would be in the mental home. lol Thank you so much. (I think I made a huge mistake.) .lol
Very cute dress, and your video is helpful and informative as always. It looks way better with the straight hem, but then again, I'm not a fan of a high/low hemline. I think they usually look strange.
I always appreciate your comments and insights! I used to have a sewing shop where I did many alterations and I wish I had been able to follow you then. Keep up the great videos 👍🏻😁
I really appreciate the explanations as it gives me ideas and helps me learn. I've just recently gotten back into sewing and your videos are super helpful - I've learned so much from them.
We may have slight imperfections but we're still perfect! The majority of my sewing is alterations so I definitely appreciate any and every explanation.
The dress is much prettier straight imo. I don't follow trends even if designers insist that they are still in style. I always learn something new when you explain the process as you work, please continue.
Keep your comments as they are it helps me so much. I was able to hem and taper the legs of the pair of pants you helped me with Thank you so much the customer was very happy
Great video with excellent content. The finished garment looks fabulous. I prefer more talking then less as you explain extremely well giving lots of detail which is what, I/we, the viewers need to follow and understand clearly.
I just discovered your channel and I love your tips! I would love to see the method for updating a woman’s blouse by removing the collar and changing to to simple V neckline. I’m talking about basic, long-sleeves business shirts - the kind with buttons down the front and standard cuffs with buttons. I have three or four like this that I’d like to update. I also noticed that the hem of the newer shirts are slightly more rounded and a tiny bit shorter. The sleeves are also shorter. I’ve been working on one shirt. I removed the collar and cut a new neckline, but I can see that the new shape will be saggy. Do you have any videos on doing something like this??? I would love to see the proper way to do it so it doesn’t look like - well, like I did it. 😀
Thank you for always sharing such informative information, I love how you explain everything to us. By the way your hair looked really pretty, have you had it cut and lowlights added? Thank you for sharing your kindness. Xxx
Awww thank you it’s my pleasure! Yess, I was so frustrated with my post-pandemic hair because I wasn’t used to having long hair and well I got a haircut and added some honey blonde in 🥰
thank you ❣️❣️❣️ appreciate your advice and detailed explanations on complicated alterations Not for the impatient seamstress 😜 you must enjoy what you do ...must admit I have huge collection of alterations to do as it's not my favorite pastime.😄😂😂😂
You look great I love the highlights in your hair, this video is so informative & thanks so much, I've been looking at all your video's for one that shows how to take in the sides of a too big dress with side pocket's in the seams could you teach us how to do this, really would appreciate it
Thank you Ann!! It was time for a change! At this moment, I only have an unofficial hack for taking in sides with pockets but it’s very effective! It can be found in this video: 5 Alteration Hacks That Will Make Your Sewing Life Easier! ruclips.net/video/TUrE8244Cxo/видео.html
I love all your tutorials and how to adjust clothing and how to do them a different way I saved every single one of your videos but I do have a question I am doing some leggings and my client wants the leggings one pair to have lace from the hip all the way down to the ankle but the seam of the leggings are only on the inside they are not on the outside so how would I add lace to the leggings that don't have scenes on the outside if I make them from a pattern I would really like to help with that
Hi Carol! Thanks. To insert the lace you need to create a seam at the sides. Then reduce the width of the lace and add the seam allowance. For example if you want to insert a 2" wide lace. Reduce front and back pattern by 1". After, add the seam allowance. I hope this helps 😊
Please do a video on increasing on sleeve of blouse to accommodate a Lymphodema arm. I usually take what I can from placket and insert gusset from bustline to underarm then bottom of sleeve.
Yes. It is correct for the most part. The only thing is that it doesn't take into count the particular differences between bodies (hips, derriere, etc). Anyway, a good trick is to make it about 3/8" longer at the center back. I hope this helps 😊
I really like all your views and comments. They help me understand why you do some changes you do instead of just a list of adjustments that my not work due to body shape, fabric, bias, etc. I find your videos, insights and comments so helpful. Please keep them up. Thank you ❤️

I agree with Lou!

Ohhh I’m so glad to help, thank you for your kind words, it’s always good to consider these things when altering for yourself :))
love all the explanations!! You can't talk too much! THANKS!
Thank you Kathy!! 🥰🥰

Yes, not a lot of people are aware of the work and thought that goes into these alterations!
I love your blouse!
I always appreciate the thought process as well as the actual altering process. It supports me in making my own choices for things that you may not have shown us yet.
I believe that so many garments are ruined with the hi-low finish 🤷🏾♀️
Excellent tutorial not only sewing but customer conflicts.

I appreciate your points because I have on hip higher than the other. I always have a time fixing the hem.
Yes! It's important to take this in count when doing alterations. 🙂
I appreciate all the extra explanations. I'm a new sewist and most of these tips are new to me. So, thank you.
Welcome to the club!! I’m glad to help :))
I love your explanations - knowing the why helps cement the method to my memory. And, as a more mature woman, I prefer the high/low for women 35 and younger.
Absolutely!!!! The “why” is the key to learning!
Love your explanations! I’m planning on doing this to my dress - but there is no ruffle - it’s just hi-low
Thank you so much Maria! Hope it goes well :))

He he! I totally get it. We can write a "curiosity" book with our experiences 😭😂😊
Very helpful, I never thought to measure differently for long dresses rather than short dresses.
I really love your explanations. Thank you so much for sharing!!
Thank you Anna, I’m glad you like them :))

Awww thank you for your sweet words Susan!
I appreciate all the advice, getting those high low hems straight are a bit challenging. Thanks for the tutorial. 😁
Yes they can be tricky!! I’m glad to share my advice and I appreciate your support a lot! 🥰
Your thought process is very helpful.
Thank you!
Good job! I like the hem straight across. My left hip is smaller than the right one and now I know why pant legs never look even on me.
Thank you so much! It’s always good to know these things about our selves when doing alterations:)
Always choose your battles!
Sometimes is better be "alive" than to be "right".

I love your videos and the variety of content!
Thank you kindly Julie, cheers!!

Please do a video on increasing on sleeve of blouse to accommodate a Lymphodema arm. I usually take what I can from placket and insert gusset from bustline to underarm then bottom of sleeve.
I think I'd do it exactly the same way you are describing it. I'll see if I can find a shirt that needs this kind of job. Cheers 🙂
I like it straight
🤗🤗🤗
please can you make a video on droopping shoulders ...that my problem with most of my tops and dresses👗👗👗
Yessss! I will 🙂
Look a lot better strait
When I prepare to hem, I lay the dress or shirt down side seam to side seam, pin then cut. Is this correct
Yes. It is correct for the most part. The only thing is that it doesn't take into count the particular differences between bodies (hips, derriere, etc). Anyway, a good trick is to make it about 3/8" longer at the center back. I hope this helps 😊
Why didn’t you just square it from the bottom hem ?
Hi! Because the ruffle would have become uneven. Cheers 🙂
Comments and personal expertise please.
I like to hear how you are thinking.
Thanks 🥰
I prefer straight
Prefer work right away. But do appreciate your expertise
🥰🥰🥰
I really dislike any hems other than straight ones. I especially don't like a longer back hem on a shirt these days.
:)
