I think that the deodorant cans did not ignite because the rapid depressurization of the cans caused to liquid inside to become cold enough to put out the flames. This would likely happen again if they tried a propane tank. Check out the modern rogue. They try to blow up a propane tank with a bullet and have similar results.

Flour won't ignite like that, it only burns when dispersed into the air. It had to be kept loose so it would form a cloud
