    I just picked up a new set of PSS for my 1SS 1LE. (305/30-20 & 285/30-20) I saved about $320-$350 or something like that over the PS4S tires I was looking at. I assume the PS4S is a better overall tire, but I not thinking there going to be that much better as the PSS's have a very good reputation as a high performance street tire. Two other things I like about the PSS is I prefer the look of the tread pattern, and Pilot Super Sports on a Camaro Super Sport seems kind of cool.
    I think that they still make the PSS because several cars either still come OEM with them, or they did up until recently so they'll likely still be in production at least in OEM sizes for a few more years. Pretty sure both base GT350's and base C7's came factory with PSS's and your GT350R's and C7 GS and higher up Vettes came with PSC2's.

    • @mick76
      @mick76 3 года назад

      Yeah you can definitely save some money going with the PSS, but apparently prices on at least the Michelin brand have gone up.( I didn't check other brands) I just bought some new PS4's for the rear on my 20" wheels and they were around a $100.00 more per tire. The PSS's I think I paid around 380 ea. now there over 400. Sheesh!!
      If I remember correctly from a article I read the difference between the PSS and the PS4 aside from the tread pattern is that the PS4 is composed of a few different compounds and are placed in different areas of the tire. I believe the softer compound is placed toward the outside (for corning) and the harder compound in the middle for daily use (normal driving).
      I think both are awesome tires but it certainly seems as though Michelin improved with the overall performance of the PS4. I running them again and really enjoy them.

    Going with a 305/30R19 square setup. I noticed that 19X11's with 305/30's will almost touch the tower brace lower spring shield when hitting bumps AND i am at stock height. Do you have any banging od the wheel on the strut and spring Assy? Also consider rock guards as the sticky tires will throw pebbles at your paint.

    • @mick76
      @mick76 3 года назад

      Sorry not sure what components your referring to in regards to the wheel/tire almost touching. In this video I was sitting on a 1.5" drop in the rear and had no clearance issues. Matter of fact I ran 325/30 in the rear and still had room to spare. 305/30 will have no problem in rear. If you have close clearance you need to look into a different offset on the wheels. Now If your talking about fronts that's a different story in regards to fitting a 305. My question to you is why 305 on the fronts? Are you tracking this car alot or is it going to be mainly for street? Check my other videos I'm now running 20's with 2" drop all around and still no problem.

    • @jadsabra8592
      @jadsabra8592 3 года назад

      @@mick76 Yea, running 305's in the front since it changes the car's handling all together (genuinely insane). Its a good street/track setup with less sticky tires (had cup 2's on). My fronts are 19X10.5 ET24 and rear of 19x11 ET48. I barely touch the strut tower (inside of the wheel can almost touch the strut). The issue is the angle of the strut and the inside of the rim gets closer as you drop since it adds negative camber. I guess if you are not dealing with this, lucky you!

      I would say it is about the same in regards to picking up stones. Tread compound is about the same if not identical. From my experience the Michelins are far less prone to picking up stones then the factory Perelli p zeros that came with my car. They were terrible in that sense.

    Is there a notable difference in performance with the PSS versus PS4s tires? Some say the wet grip is better with the PS4S but i would like the PSS as I want a 305/35/19 tire. Any advise will be appreciated, I can’t decide if i want to buy a PS4S with 295/35/19 or PSS 305/35/20.

    • @mick76
      @mick76 Год назад +1

      Honestly I don't think you could go wrong with either for driving in wet condition. Very similar tread pattern. The one thing that attracted me to the 4s is Michelin's "multi-compound technology" which they use a softer compound rubber on inner part of the tire and harder on outer part. Which equals better handling in corners and a bit longer tread life over the super sport. Check out my video on my current setup using 20" wheels with 305/30 4s tires.

      Your best bet is to go with 305/35r19 that will be close to the diameter of the 275/40/19 and keep your current wheel gap. Going with a 305/35r20 will be almost an 1" larger diameter over the 305/35r19 or 275/40r19 and will probably eliminate any wheel gap you currently have. The tire might even be slightly tucked in the fender well. That's why I run a 305/30r20. It closely matches the 275/40r19 diameter. Which in turn doesn't greatly affect my speedometer reading.
