    I think that was a really smart solution. I've stayed away from IRs simply because they do not for my personal gear and guitars. Thanks

      @@Laithsmiths If you buy an IR to get a Guitarist's specific sound, but you don't have their particular gear, you're not likely to get their sound.

    • @Laithsmiths
      @Laithsmiths Месяц назад

      @@picksalot1 It's still weird to throw a blanket statement about how IRs don't work for your... guitars? Gear I can get, because sometimes people prefer actual cabs and don't use IRs. But whatever guitar you have makes no difference. IRs work regardless.
      Also buying an IR to get a guitarist's tone seems misguided in the first place. It's not a magical solution. Neither are the Tonex DIs.

    • @picksalot1
      @picksalot1 Месяц назад

      @@Laithsmiths It looked like you wanted "my" reason, so I provided it. Jason's showing how to create an IR of one's own guitar, speaks directly to this issue.

    • @Laithsmiths
      @Laithsmiths Месяц назад

      @@picksalot1again, it seems like you're overestimating what's going on here. This is nothing as fancy as a "guitar IR", it's not even an IR at all. It is literally just a direct recording, minding the gain levels at the input trim, so you can loop it at the software and make use of it when capturing profiles or testing them. This is not something you use to make your guitar sound like another guitar.
      Which is why it makes me wonder what the point is in having other people's DI signals, when you're clearly better off either using your own gear's recorded DI, or simply playing your own instrument yourself at the levels you're looking for. Unless this is targeted at people who own the software, but not the hardware.

    I just got my white Tone X, getting some cool sounds, but this is going to take me awhile to figure out how to set up everything the way i like it?..

  • @vomito72

    thanks for the tip on how to make DI for toneX , I will try
    with toneX One and all my gears I found out -4 dB it matches with my sound card and pedalboard to have -11/12 dB at the DAW , it's sounds great
    I would say tonex one software has slightly different steps and adjusting with the mouse I can only set -4.4 dB to be close to that but I guess it's kind of alright by ears

    Hey Jason, I’ve been binging your input trim videos a lot recently and now I finally understand that in order to have my software and pedal line up I have to have my Tonex pedal set to -5.5 (Tonex has max input of 8 and my irig interface has one of 13.5) but I wondered if it made any difference that I’m using my Tonex in the loop of my HXFX? I’m assuming since the HXFX has instrument input and the loop is set to instrument that it will make no difference to my level hitting the tonex? Realistically I should just stop caring and use my ears but I’d like everything to be calibrated somewhat

    Great video, Thanks. I wonder what would have happened if you would have used 48Khz instead of 44.1? Maybe it still works. I'm very surprised they didn't use 48 x 24 for this pedal as this seems to really be the unofficial standard now.

    @JasonSadites could you make a video of how to capture a helix full rig tone amp+cab within helix's own routing via usb for tonex to recieve capture. I ask specifically about full rig capture because tonex doesnt seem to allow more than one ir cab or block.

    Is the default input gain level in tonex pedal the same as all the tone models for tonex software?

    • @JasonSadites
      @JasonSadites  Месяц назад +1

      If you are referring to IK included tone models, they don't publish the spec that they were captured at. The manual states clearly that the Input Trim needs to be adjusted based on the guitar, but an much easier way to do it is set it so you avoid running so little headroom and simply use the Gain knob which does the same thing and is saveable per preset. Hope that helps :-)
