The reason you can’t sleep after drinking soda is that soda is made with synthetic caffeine and it is very bad for you. Coffee is natural which is gentle and your body can deal with it much better.

If you ever want to siphon without having to suck on the hose, you can fully submerge the entire hose into the tank so it is full. Then seal one end with your hand as you lift it out. That way the hose is primed and all you have to do is drop it into the bucket.

😂 (you need a Yeti mug, there's a new lovely green color out, it looks similar to your green, it's called key lime and you can pick a size mug for your amount of coffee you drink, if you're like my mom, you get distracted during coffee time and it goes cold or you lose it in a part of your fish room.) Lol. This is a great idea MD showing in real time how a tank acclimates from start to running along hands free, for the most part. I've pretty much given up on hang on back filters, 2 have died. I wasn't sure my tank would
ever go no filter, then I realized, my 2nd filter wasn't running for a week or so (we got quite busy and just fed it and lights on and off) and my tank looked stunning as far as water quality and parameters. It gave me a scare, I was sure all my fish would die or something, but everyone was normal and my water was spot on. I just need more plants, and I was pleased to see from me starting up a few tanks, my local store is supplying more and different plants now, just goes to show how one person can jump start progress from talking with the fish people... 😂 I have a power head I may put back in to circulate the water, but no filter is actually WORKING OUT JUST FINE! So, I'm amazed. Filters are such a pain.

You can get electrical auto top up systems that have a sensor and a pump that turns on whenever the sensor goes above the water line. Would be a much neater solution with less maintenance because you could just put a 10 gallon container in the cabinet below or out of the way and feed the top up tube to the tank.

Hey MD! Great video as always, I am also an amateur without all the fancy equipment. So great series to watch! What I always do with new wood, is boil them a few times in a pan (if the wood is too big, just turn the wood around in a few cycle of water boiling. By boiling the water and the wood a few minutes a few times you eliminate the majority of the tannins coming out:) Saves you a lot of time de-murking the water!

Did you fill the Pepsi bottle with tap water without using a dechlorinator?

Get sandpaper or a Dremel to trim plastic. Doing it with a boxcutter is ineffective, imprecise, and unsafe. I bet you could find a nicer looking glass container you could use instead of the plastic bottle. As far as the auto feeder, I'm kind of surprised you plan to use that. You always seem so delighted that your fish recognize you as the lunch ticket =)
