The reason you can’t sleep after drinking soda is that soda is made with synthetic caffeine and it is very bad for you. Coffee is natural which is gentle and your body can deal with it much better.
It makes my weekend when I get my dose of MD. You make such beautiful tanks and I’ve learnt so much from you. Mbuna tank is still my favourite even though you recently updated it.
I enjoy watching ur shows. I've had fish tanks for 10 years. But with flake plants. We not long moved into a new home after we got kicked out because the landlord what's to sell it. So I Decided to do live plants after watching all ur shows. Thank you. Your videos Inspired me
If you ever want to siphon without having to suck on the hose, you can fully submerge the entire hose into the tank so it is full. Then seal one end with your hand as you lift it out. That way the hose is primed and all you have to do is drop it into the bucket.
Good advice for everyone, however I believe that specific hose is like 30+ft long as he runs it all the way outside to a drain. I'd love to see him try though haha!
You mention a getting into a loop with videos I found this series a month after you posted it. I will spend hours catching up to pt.6. When sanding in tight areas , wrap the sand paper around your fork handle. Love your content. Me and my wife watch all the time now. We have 4 tanks and looking for more .
Md once again thank you for three very enjoyable vid I absolutely loved them and as a guy with 4 tanks in house i love the reuse of sand and subtrate and really appreciate your effort for reaching out to people like me on a budget 😀 loce it man and watch all your vid your die hard fan kris 😀😊
I have a 20 liters vase without any food and only light. Tried without a filter, but got really milky water after 3 months and had to water change a lot. Installed a small hang-on filter with only sponges, now it works great.
Thank you for inspiring me brother. I created a channel for the hobby all becsuse i wanted to share my hobby exactly the way you do it like with passion, humor and respect. I should be posting my 1st proper video today. I have been procastinating a lot lately but today i have the power
MD pretty much said if you have tannins in your water and you have no fish yet, just do complete daily water changes until it clears, then let your tank cycle for a couple weeks and you should be in the clear! Double check with API testing kit! Solid video!!!!
Loving the series, MD. Thanks for all the great insight into building better aquariums! The barbs look like juvenile odessa barbs to me. Like the ones in Timmy's tank.
😂 (you need a Yeti mug, there's a new lovely green color out, it looks similar to your green, it's called key lime and you can pick a size mug for your amount of coffee you drink, if you're like my mom, you get distracted during coffee time and it goes cold or you lose it in a part of your fish room.) Lol. This is a great idea MD showing in real time how a tank acclimates from start to running along hands free, for the most part. I've pretty much given up on hang on back filters, 2 have died. I wasn't sure my tank would ever go no filter, then I realized, my 2nd filter wasn't running for a week or so (we got quite busy and just fed it and lights on and off) and my tank looked stunning as far as water quality and parameters. It gave me a scare, I was sure all my fish would die or something, but everyone was normal and my water was spot on. I just need more plants, and I was pleased to see from me starting up a few tanks, my local store is supplying more and different plants now, just goes to show how one person can jump start progress from talking with the fish people... 😂 I have a power head I may put back in to circulate the water, but no filter is actually WORKING OUT JUST FINE! So, I'm amazed. Filters are such a pain.
one thing i have that could be useful for a long vacation/auto top off is the autofill containers for aeroponics/ i have two that i use when i go out of town for my aero gardens could defo work for a fish tank and looks 100x better than the pepsi bottle
Thankyou for all the inspirational content you’re putting up! Can I make a wish for a future Project? I’ll be using a 60x60x150cm tank as a room devider with the short end against a wall. I’d love to see you scape such a tank so that it looks well planted but beautiful from both sides!
I used that auto top off system on my tank as well. I have three that I use. I go to work for two weeks at a time, so I have an auto feeder and the auto top off. I had the same issue with the auto top off.
This is something new to see in 3x days one aquarium scape. I don't know how others feel, but I would like to wait longer and get one video that is one hour long. Then I can take tea cookies and enjoy watching it. Now, somehow, those three videos were too short. After the first one, was a strange feeling of missing something (ending). In my opinion, I prefer one and long.
That watering contraption might help you on your small vases/containers you just did, if you're away again for a while and no one is around to top off.
"Doesn't it look fantastic?" 😂 Noup. It's an eye sore. I can see use for it, thou. I'm leaving for 3 weeks, if I clean the filters and wipe the aquariums walls, I can just slap a bottle on each tank, the feeders and Bob's your uncle for a week, when I'll have a person come and refill the feeder. Nice!
Not tannins...milky was just a bacteria bloom. New nutrients etc. They just took advantage. It would clear up by itself as the tank cycles :). I like the new series :)!
You can get electrical auto top up systems that have a sensor and a pump that turns on whenever the sensor goes above the water line. Would be a much neater solution with less maintenance because you could just put a 10 gallon container in the cabinet below or out of the way and feed the top up tube to the tank.
I believe those baby/juvenile barbs are Odessa Barbs. They look eerily similar in body shape and pattern/markings with the full-grown Odessas in Timmy’s tanks.
Hi MD, I just discovered your channel and am LOVING it! The artistry is amazing and inspiring and I'm wanting to set up my own tank! I have a few questions, if you don't mind 1. I think this is the Walstad method of layering soil on the bottom. is that correct? 2. This setup is suitable for a betta fish, right? 3. I'm looking at a Waterbox Clear Mini 25 and Lifegard 24 gallon built-in back. Do you have a recommendation on which to pick?
Are the mystery fish juvenile odessa barbs MD? Loving this series, I'm about to set up a new tank. Might even film the set up. I think it might be interesting to see how a newbie does following your stuff.
Personally this isnt my cup 'tea. But I do enjoy your views & experiments. Can this work??? Yes it could. I love the sound of water returning to the tank. Very peaceful & serene 😊
The barbs could be Odessa barbs. Have you stored your Odessa barbs in that tank and they have spawned perhaps? Looks like it is all female though. You should have seen some coloration from the males at that stage.
Hi md could you tell me what you use for scatter gravel do you mix some together or does it come in 1 bag thanks and love ur channel and greetings from Ireland 🇮🇪
Hi MD. Help please. Your method of Nutribase, pond compost etc. how deep could i go, i want to have a planted aquarium only using Echinodorus species. Many thanks Pete 🏴
Hey MD, I have had a problem with my TDS ever increasing when simply adding tapwater. So I top off now with RO water. Have you considered that? Or do you leave that as one of the 'issues' you will see in this tank and then take care of it ;-)
Great work always love your videos. Huge love from India. I am inviting you to visit my place one day. I will take to to one of the biggest fish and plant market of India.
Hey MD! Great video as always, I am also an amateur without all the fancy equipment. So great series to watch! What I always do with new wood, is boil them a few times in a pan (if the wood is too big, just turn the wood around in a few cycle of water boiling. By boiling the water and the wood a few minutes a few times you eliminate the majority of the tannins coming out:) Saves you a lot of time de-murking the water!
Get sandpaper or a Dremel to trim plastic. Doing it with a boxcutter is ineffective, imprecise, and unsafe. I bet you could find a nicer looking glass container you could use instead of the plastic bottle. As far as the auto feeder, I'm kind of surprised you plan to use that. You always seem so delighted that your fish recognize you as the lunch ticket =)

I love these videos where you show us your personality. That's really what keeps us coming back!
I am LOVING this little series!! Thanks for all your hard work!
Best.Week.Ever.
Love this series. More series videos please
Love seeing these notifications pop up days in a row! Thanks MD! 🔥🐟
It makes my weekend when I get my dose of MD. You make such beautiful tanks and I’ve learnt so much from you. Mbuna tank is still my favourite even though you recently updated it.
I love the Mbuna tank as well.
Would love to see a tank with all or mostly wood now! The thumbnail image shown for Day 1 looked amazing as is.

You will love it. Your aquarium will change its look frequently.
I cannot imagine a tank without plants anymore

@@brandonhugueley3445 LMAO! Gotcha, I didnt know that. Yea it would be hard for him to do, or at least messy lol
i just fill the hose at the sink and hold both ends, stick one end in the bucket with one in the tank and done
Thank you! You are a live saver
Love Dwarf Danios. They're really attractive fish and never stop moving. A fabulous addition to the tank.
I’m glad to see a video like this I been wanting to start an aquarium but really have no idea how to maintain it
So to avoid having to top up the tank you've got a bottle you need to top so it tops up the tank 😁😁
And on top of that it looks like sh... 🤣
This is an awesome series format, might set one up like this and follow the steps day by day 👍
You mention a getting into a loop with videos I found this series a month after you posted it.
I will spend hours catching up to pt.6.

the intro, felt like when you go downstairs for a drink of water in the dark. and you think someone is following you 🤣
You’re a nut! But it always makes me happy to see you enjoying what you do. Great videos, I can’t wait to see how it goes!
Those barb look like pethia padamya to me! Due to the two dots they have and the red-ish color. They get even more beautiful, a true win!
I have a 20 liters vase without any food and only light. Tried without a filter, but got really milky water after 3 months and had to water change a lot. Installed a small hang-on filter with only sponges, now it works great.

like that you showed the test results...that is interesting stuff for me!
i’m just happy i get to see MD every day
Loving the series..
12:09 I think those are Pentazona barb/ Five banded barb. Loving this daily vedios❤❤
Nope, Pentazona barbs have 5 black stripes. Maybe they're Melon or Odessa barbs?
Twin-spot barbs?
Or perhaps…
_Baba Wawa?_
@@MegGreeneSmith they're still not full grown
Maybe baby odessa barbs from the turtle tank somehow?
Harlequin rasboras?
Thankyou for all the inspirational content you’re putting up! Can I make a wish for a future Project? I’ll be using a 60x60x150cm tank as a room devider with the short end against a wall. I’d love to see you scape such a tank so that it looks well planted but beautiful from both sides!

Your the only person on RUclips where when I press home on my phone it still plays the video
YES! 3 videos in a row! Like old times!
This guy is good at what he does!
I can't wait to start seeing growth on those plants!
Juvenile odessa or golden barbs, will know once they get bigger and the color sets in. Love the series!
That watering contraption might help you on your small vases/containers you just did, if you're away again for a while and no one is around to top off.
Hide it in plants up top on your big tank
"Doesn't it look fantastic?" 😂 Noup. It's an eye sore. I can see use for it, thou. Switch that Flat White out for a Cafe -au-lait. Enjoying the vids so far MD :D
Love this daily content release
Really enjoying this little series MD. 😊
You can get electrical auto top up systems that have a sensor and a pump that turns on whenever the sensor goes above the water line. Would be a much neater solution with less maintenance because you could just put a 10 gallon container in the cabinet below or out of the way and feed the top up tube to the tank.
yeah i'll see how this goes and if not suitable, we can upgrade.
Day after day! 🔥🔥🔥
Great series definitely thinking of potentially giving this ago myself MD
I like these daily videos. Its keeping you busy anyway. I thought they looked like Pentazona barbs
Also called 5 banded barb. Count the bands
I believe those baby/juvenile barbs are Odessa Barbs. They look eerily similar in body shape and pattern/markings with the full-grown Odessas in Timmy’s tanks.
They remind me of tiger barbs.
Im loving the daily videos 👍
The intro 😂. I was like, what on earth is he doing 😅.
Investing in some small files would help tremendously. It's much easier to file plastic than shave it. Carey on 😁
Ahahaa loved the intro 😂 proper cinematic experience
@MDfishtanks please do a planted scape on a corner tank, juwel 190 for example, none of the big names done one as far as i can tell.
Really nice video series to watch, thank you 🙋♂
Bro these intros have be in stitches 😂😂😂
The barbs could also be Puntius oligolepis. You will definitly see which kind of barbs, when they are older ;-)
I'll never stop following you 😂😂😂
Thank you my friend
Just a suggestion, maybe invest in a cheap dremel kit for shaving things down, it should help making life easier.
Hi MD, I just discovered your channel and am LOVING it! The artistry is amazing and inspiring and I'm wanting to set up my own tank! I have a few questions, if you don't mind

Loving this series, I'm about to set up a new tank. Might even film the set up. I think it might be interesting to see how a newbie does following your stuff.
that intro was hilarious
Golden barbs! Just bought some today 😂
Glad you didn’t forget the cup this time….. 😂 coffee good 👍
Excellent progress! Do you have a link to the surface skimmer? I can't see it on the list :-)
Personally this isnt my cup 'tea. But I do enjoy your views & experiments. Can this work??? Yes it could. I love the sound of water returning to the tank. Very peaceful & serene 😊
2 spot barbs by the looks of them nice fish
Like others have mentioned they are Odessa barbs.
The barbs could be Odessa barbs. Have you stored your Odessa barbs in that tank and they have spawned perhaps? Looks like it is all female though. You should have seen some coloration from the males at that stage.
Or as I did. Moved some plants from my tank with Odessa barbs and suddenly fry were swimming around amongst those plants.
Hi md could you tell me what you use for scatter gravel do you mix some together or does it come in 1 bag thanks and love ur channel and greetings from Ireland 🇮🇪
Nice relaxed video 👍
HI,my room is not heated so will i need a heater in my tank.? thank you for a great series.
The barbs remind me of the tiger barbs I once raised.
Wondering if your Barb babies could be Odessa barbs from Timmy’s tank when you rescaped it?
I’m assuming the Pepsi top up water has some sort of dechlorinator in it?
No word of a lie, I thought of making the exact ato you just put on the tank. I guess I missed on that one.
Ive been the same my sleep has gone to pot recently. wake at 4/5 am and not sleeping til 12/1am
Take the pepsi label off the bottle 👍
My dogs water bowl has the same type system with a hard plastic bottle so it doesnt suck the bottle in
Loving this as a series! Daily uploads? :o Good morning from NH!
And YEP! That murkiness was EXACTLY what I experienced the morning after filling my new tank lol.
I think base on the paterns and colors, those teeny tiny barbs are Sumatran tiger barb from Sumatra Indonesia 🇮🇩 my home country. But i could be wrong
How do you exactly get so many of your tanks? I assume you build them, what thickness acrylic do you use and where do you get it?
Hi MD. Help please. Your method of Nutribase, pond compost etc. how deep could i go, i want to have a planted aquarium only using Echinodorus species. Many thanks Pete 🏴
Could you try a father fish tank 1 time?
Just as an experience.
It would be really interesting, comparing your style with ff's style
I need something like this
The top-off...I doubt it's meant fulltime. But, for those times you travel, keeping water levels up :)
Looks like young ruby barbs to me. 12:06 hard tell in that size
Hey MD, I have had a problem with my TDS ever increasing when simply adding tapwater. So I top off now with RO water. Have you considered that? Or do you leave that as one of the 'issues' you will see in this tank and then take care of it ;-)
my tap tds is 80 - 100 so never really becomes an issue
MD FISH TANKS , I think those barbs you got are,
NARAYAN BARB --
(TWO SPOT BARB)
The bottle rig is the same as my brine shrimp hatchery
Great work always love your videos.
Huge love from India.
I am inviting you to visit my place one day. I will take to to one of the biggest fish and plant market of India.
how does your water bucket work? Do you have to keep adding Dechlorinator whenever you fill it up? Do you let it run out before filling it again?
I was just wondering where you bought your tanks from im looking for a more affordable option over like 75 gallons
Did you fill the Pepsi bottle with tap water without using a dechlorinator?
Hard to get a good look at them but they look like baby Odessa barbs to me did you have adults in that tank earlier?
no never had them in there. and nothing from the adults has been there. Unless some eggs got attached to a net when cleaning??
Get sandpaper or a Dremel to trim plastic. Doing it with a boxcutter is ineffective, imprecise, and unsafe. I bet you could find a nicer looking glass container you could use instead of the plastic bottle. As far as the auto feeder, I'm kind of surprised you plan to use that. You always seem so delighted that your fish recognize you as the lunch ticket =)
I am going shopping tomorrow what is the best algae eater fish?
