I am 67 so,unfortunately, too old to be considering a career as a pilot. But I have always loved aviation and I spend a lot of my free time watching youtube aviation videos. I have a flight Simulator X and love to fly on it. I have actually taken flying lessons in the real world and if I was just starting out, I would definitely pursue a career in aviation of some kind. I love these videos and though I am retired and live on a fixed income now, I definitely plan to support your channel as I am able. I am a subscriber and look forward to many more of your videos. Thank you for what you do.

I wholeheartedly agree with this video. 3 years ago I quit my I.T. job to pursue aviation full time. I was the oldest cadet in my group but I am almost there. 2 more exams and I will have completed my ATPL theory. It isn't roses all the time but if you are determined, then you will push through!

I am 34 years old, in 2014 with my spouse we left our life in Murcia, Spain to relocate in Northern Ontario, Canada. Where I started the Aviation program from Sault College (CPL(A)IR). I always wanted to be a pilot but life didn't take to me this path until now. After passing the first semester, in two weeks I'll be starting to fly (weather permitting). If I can do it, everyone can.
Thanks for having this channel, helps with a lot of the questions that I have.

Now, I am currently studying a degree in Aeronautical Engineering since paying for flight school is not an option at this very moment of my life. I am still planing to pay my training after I finish with engineering though.. My question is... Will I ever get some use out of being an engineer... And a pilot? Have you ever met any pilot who both studied an engineering degree and trained to become a pilot? If you have, how was that helpful for his job as an airline pilot?

I did change fields, carriers, mostly to afford normal life, to not be load or dependant from someone. So carrier changing is not a big challenge, but the same damn money needed to get close enough to CPL, esp. if You have a family to care about, and there's no much left for stepping up to become a pilot. It's a ridiculous amount even to acquire PPL for regular people in my county. And that's the reason we have so few native pilots even in our national airline, even PPL is owned by older people who got it when it was lot cheaper, or sponsored, or by rich already. It seems that You need to have a good job in the bank first, before dreaming about a pilot career. It is a vicious circle: in order to have a pilot career, you should be rich(having assets) already. And no one here can tell how to overcome this.

Jānis Grīnvalds I’m a Comemricial pilot , it all comes to how bad you want it. I didn’t have a easy path, I had failures , I finished behind my friends but when you finally get there it’s worth it ! Here is the positive the industry is great right now , pilot jobs are there , what is hard is once you do get the commercial license the jobs are very limited till you build hrs time . It really is hard the first year , or two getting a job building the time . You need 1500 hrs to fly for a airline. That’s a another topic I could discuss , and why the 1500hr is ridiculous . The cost is really not anymore then what people pay for a 4 year college probably cheaper if you don’t go to a 141 school like ATP. It’s not easy , it’s takes determination hard work. Hey nothing in life worth having comes easy !

I've been constantly thinking about this. I ask so many pilots which route I should take. "Should I pay as I go and get all of my ratings slowly? Or get a loan and finish it quickly so I can start flying for the airlines faster?". There are so many mixed reviews on this topic. What is your opinion, Mentour? I'd love to know what an airline captain's view of loans for aviation are.

+Sallah AL Houssawi Hi, I'm an aircraft engineer so I'll answer this: When you qualify as an engineer you have learned about gas turbines and piston engines in general. We don't learn about specific engines at that stage. Much like pilots, we then need to get a type rating for a particular aircraft (usually provided by the company you work for) and that type rating will normally cover all engine options on the type. I am currently doing my A320 family type rating and we cover both the CFM 56-5B and the V2500. There is no limit to the amount of type ratings an engineer can have on his license but it is very time consuming to complete a course and also very expensive if you are paying for it yourself!

Hi Mentour Pilot. I am 14 years old and my dream is to be a commercial pilot. I have had experiences in 737 simulators and I have also had 2 lessons in a tecnam p2002. However, money is a big factor to take into account. Would it be possible to pursue this career through the air corps and get your licences paid for by the government and then progress on? Since I was able to look up at the sky, aircraft has fascinated me and I am captivated by every aspect of aviation. Any advice to me along with that question would be greatly appreciated! +Alias DMG I was told by an air corps pilot that they do not have to pay for their licences? This may not apply for cpls etc. as they do not train you specifically for flying 737-747 etc. However, I think it's possible to get different licences 😁

I am thinking about joining the British Airways FPP which is a sponsored program but still requires an £84,000 security deposit, the deposit gets paid back after you have successfully joined BA as a first officer, do you have any suggestions to help save up money to pay this deposit. I am only 14 so there is plenty of time but I know I want to be a pilot

Yeah, I was thinking of doing a job to earn a bit of money and also borrow money from family member like my parents because they work full time so I guess I'm lucky in that way. Thanks for answering questions and making these amazing and inspirational videos.
