In my kids days, i remember plant a thin/small bamboo.
It only have few roots left.
What i not expecting, after few 2-3 years it grows and that single bamboo expand to more than 10 bamboos.
Now after more than 10 years, it multiple more but it not exceed or taking more space like i imagine.
It like the bamboo know this is your space expansion.

seems like alot of work going into something that grows like a weed out there , i think most people would find a bambo forest which is everywhere over there and just cut the shoots instead having to actualy work to get it

The soil is fertile, low but not waterlogged, and close to water because bamboo needs a lot of water in the dry season (if you want to harvest in the dry season).

Did they get the great bamboo die back sorted for the pandas. It all came from 1 plano 1000.000s of years back and it's cycle it totally dies back and panda has to find another food for a few years..
