His videos appealed to me because of how random, daring, and fun they seemed, and we know that 2016-2018 was a time when challenge RUclipsrs like him were trending like wildfire across RUclips. Though however many like him faded into obscurity and stagnation, while some managed to still maintain their popularity and views like MrBeast. Many OGs also remember when he worked for Wassabi Productions where he did comedic skits and played a character called Rolanda.

I don’t think people understand what lengths you have to go through to understand that history. Though the topic of the video might be depressing, it was very informative and inspiring for me to change perspective and gears. Watching it through a 3rd persons POV just gave confirmation of what I thought on my end as well. Aside from following trends, another part factor for the decline is my audience has grown and the content doesn’t relate to them anymore. Hopefully, whatever my next move is, I’ll find that fire and joy I had in the past that I’ll use for what’s next. 🤎

i have really fond memories of watching this guy on wassabi productions when i was a kid, so it's sad to see where he's ended up. i never cared for or watched guava juice, i remember being pretty sad when he left wasabi to make a new kid-oriented channel because it was out of my age range. it's funny to look back and see that he never actually changed all that much, it was me who simply grew older and aged out of his content. i hope he can find success on youtube again.

This really shows how RUclips evolved over the years, you can easily see that its golden age was between 2013 and 2017 but, as Sunny said we all grew up, and not only us but apparently even the new generation is not able to relate to this kind of content anymore, which is sad cause I remember laughing and really enjoying these videos. Both are true. We all grew up meaning we need a higher level of entertainment to find enjoyment from it. As someone who grew up watching youtube, I always considered his “peak” to be the content on Wasabi productions, those videos were hilarious and I watched them ALL the time when I was younger. It’s probably due to the fact that whenever he started to change his content to cater towards a younger audience I had grown out of that content, I literally didn’t even realize for a good amount of time that he was the same person I’d watch when I was a kid
That's honestly the only way for him to actually have entertaining videos again. Stop catering to the children and start making more old Guava Juice 2 type videos.

A lot of people in this comment section are asking why Sunny won't address the "controversy" from the Chris Tyson video. The answer is it's because it's the right move. Reason being is: 1. If Sunny addresses the drama, he will just keep on dragging it out but instead he just uploads another video on another topic so most people will just forget in a while. Sunny even states himself in his other videos on James Charles, OnlyJayus & Shane Dawson to give a few examples that if you keep commenting on drama rather than ignoring it, it's just going to dig you down in a deeper hole. 2. Even if some people don't forget about it overtime (which majority do), Sunny addressing it will just make him stoop down to his level like the people trying to "cancel" him. 3. There is nothing to address. Sure he made a video where a lot of people disagree with his take, which I is fine because everyone is entitled to their opinions, but to say he is transphobic and needs to be cancelled all because he has a different opinion that you is pathetic. Because regardless whether you agree with Sunny's take or not, he is a commentary channel and he made a commentary video giving his opinions. That is it. It really isn't that serious or deep than people make it out to be.
It's really not the worst video, the take is a bit spicy and arguably wrong but it doesn't have to kill his channel. Unfortunately, there is nonetheless blowback that will be following for some time.

This was an era of RUclips that is foreign to me because of my age bracket (I’m currently 30 years old) but there’s no doubt that my nieces and nephews loved this kind of content. Every time I saw them on a device they were watching this kind of content and in my curiosity I looked at the view counts and they were all hitting about 20 million views easily. A lot of channels were eating off of the attention spans of the young Gen Z demographic around this time.
Its even worse now because every youtube short be having another video on the bottom because i guess people need to watch two videos at once to not lose focus now💀

In simple terms, his viewers have grown up. During 2017-2018, me and my cousin would watch him together and have so much fun. We absolutely loved his videos and enjoyed him a lot, now we have grown up and watch different videos. Most of his viewers have grown up and moved onto other content which means they have forgotten about him and since now he has been forgotten, the youngsters don't know about him. Which is probably the reason of his downfall. But of course I wish the best for him.

His videos appealed to me because of how random, daring, and fun they seemed, and we know that 2016-2018 was a time when challenge RUclipsrs like him were trending like wildfire across RUclips. Though however many like him faded into obscurity and stagnation, while some managed to still maintain their popularity and views like MrBeast. I don’t think people understand what lengths you have to go through to understand that history. Though the topic of the video might be depressing, it was very informative and inspiring for me to change perspective and gears.
Watching it through a 3rd persons POV just gave confirmation of what I thought on my end as well.
Aside from following trends, another part factor for the decline is my audience has grown and the content doesn’t relate to them anymore.

As someone who grew up watching youtube, I always considered his “peak” to be the content on Wasabi productions, those videos were hilarious and I watched them ALL the time when I was younger. It’s probably due to the fact that whenever he started to change his content to cater towards a younger audience I had grown out of that content, I literally didn’t even realize for a good amount of time that he was the same person I’d watch when I was a kid

A lot of people in this comment section are asking why Sunny won't address the "controversy" from the Chris Tyson video. The answer is it's because it's the right move. Reason being is:
1. If Sunny addresses the drama, he will just keep on dragging it out but instead he just uploads another video on another topic so most people will just forget in a while. Sunny even states himself in his other videos on James Charles, OnlyJayus & Shane Dawson to give a few examples that if you keep commenting on drama rather than ignoring it, it's just going to dig you down in a deeper hole.
2. Even if some people don't forget about it overtime (which majority do), Sunny addressing it will just make him stoop down to his level like the people trying to "cancel" him.
3. There is nothing to address. This was an era of RUclips that is foreign to me because of my age bracket (I’m currently 30 years old) but there’s no doubt that my nieces and nephews loved this kind of content. Every time I saw them on a device they were watching this kind of content and in my curiosity I looked at the view counts and they were all hitting about 20 million views easily. A lot of channels were eating off of the attention spans of the young Gen Z demographic around this time.

In simple terms, his viewers have grown up. During 2017-2018, me and my cousin would watch him together and have so much fun. We absolutely loved his videos and enjoyed him a lot, now we have grown up and watch different videos. Most of his viewers have grown up and moved onto other content which means they have forgotten about him and since now he has been forgotten, the youngsters don't know about him. Which is probably the reason of his downfall. But of course I wish the best for him.
