There’s also references to No More Dream and Blood Sweat and Tears. I’m sure I’m forgetting some references. The desert and ocean sounds are a reference to their song Sea which was a hidden track of Love Yourself: Her. In it they use the desert/ocean as a metaphor to their career. How they thought when they debuted that their career would be an ocean, but it was actually a desert. And when they finally reached the ocean, how they should never forget that it used to be a desert. The song starts and ends with ocean sounds, so they are in the ocean, but they’re going through the time when it was a desert. I love how they keep grounding themselves to not let fame get the best of them.
I was excited to see your perspective as a non Army. I know Army can be so excited we just automatically deign something amazing without giving it a full listen or whatever (I try not to, but I mean I still do at times)😅 so I always appreciate your lack of bias. And I love that you spotted the call backs and references. For me it was like a warm hug, full of nostalgia. Visually it's full of references to previous tracks with the scenes and props, but also the styling. Each person is dressed to reference a previous era. It's so nice, and lyrically I really like it too, nothing complicated, but just them declaring who they are and what they are doing. 👏
This MV is a real trip back in time. I couldn't stop crying yet.... The references already start in the first scene, which reminds me of the end of Life Goes On, and being in Korean, wow, what a movie that crossed my mind. When JK starts putting his hand over his eye it's a reference to Young Forever, when Yoongi is on top of the piano it's a reference to First Love, when Tae has a rose in his hand it's a reference to Boy In Luv, when the Jimin puts his hand in his mouth and then extends it is a reference to Spring Day and DNA, Jin does the Fake Love pose too, and the truck that they so much part of the mv makes reference to Run, and in the end, the scene of them sitting on the bus is just like Spring Day, the last scene is just like the spring day scene they are on the train!! the filming, the expressions, even the gestures, they talked about the album and Nan said that this was their first chapter so I see this MV this album as a closure of this chapter, references to old times and everything and the second chapter "is still to come" and that they are preparing more new things for us but that was just my interpretation, oh my God, what an exciting memory for us ARMYs, a flexbeck epic. This MV was the best made of BTS's career, the care with the scenography, the references, the expressions to the lyrics. OH MY GOD HOW I CRIED. Always adored how honest, and respectful you are to all groups, but BTS as my ult, it always feels different, thank you so much for appreciation, and respect for them. This MV basically sums up their Chapter 1, which was everything they have released in the past. First, they are in the desert (a reference to their hidden track, sea which you'll know why they are in a desert once you listen to it. The lyrics of the song will tell you). Second, you were right about those things like, school bus, piano, train, etc being references to their old MVs. Third, the last scene where they were sitting on the school bus was both a no more dream, and spring day reference which I believe that it was them telling us that they are opening a new chapter. I agree with you that the song's key part was its beautiful lyrics, and meaning. I am glad that they perfectly conveyed what they wanna tell people. Talking about being burdened by being called the best, saying they do not care about things people thought they were all about it, and reminding people that they came this far because they like music, they just did what they want to do, and worked hard for it. Yeah its 3 cds in total! But the CD3 its only on the physical album with some demos and old unrealesed songs! Btw its was a great reaction!! And yes sooo many references,not only the props, but some lyrics,clothes, and even some gestures,expressions... The last scene after the songs ends its almost identical to a scene on spring day!
This group that I just found out about called Forestella it's 4 guys who's vocals will actually put you in a coma I really recommend checking out their song "Save our lives" it's absolutely stunning visually, vocally, and lyrically I literally was on the floor about to cry it's a sensory overload
