My favourites are Whisper of the heart, Castle in the Sky and Kiki’s delivery service. I love how different everyone’s rankings are here. Studio Ghibli movies really never miss!
It was well written and amazing but I’m NEVER watching it again it made me so mad and it was so depressing (I get that that’s the point and it’s amazing that it makes you feel so much but I just can’t watch it again)
when i was like 8 i saw ponyo, for years i couldn’t find reference of it anywhere. it seemed like a total acid trip but in the best way possible, it inspired me to become a marine biologist. years later as an adult i found out what gibli movies where. they really are magical to kids who only grew up with western animation
My list would've Been, 1. My Neighbor Totoro, 2. Grave of the Fireflies, 3. Kiki's Delivery Service, 4. princess Mononoke, and 5. (a tie) The Cat Returns or Grogu and Dust Bunnies. honestly, any studio Ghibli movie could me number 1, their all so good.
Oh man, grave of the fireflies... It's probably one of the best movies I've seen, but it's so heartbreaking that I can't sit through the whole thing for a second time
@@aetheralmeowstic2392 🤨hold up, you still have a DSi? that's awesome that you got Grave of the Fireflies, but how'd you manage to get it formatted for a old system like the DSi?
"My rankings of Studio Ghibli movies" 1. Princess Mononoke (1997) 2. Grave of the Fireflies (1988) 3. The Boy & The Heron (2023) 4. My Neighbor Totoro (1988) 5. Spirited Away (2001) 6. I'd never even heard of Ghibli movies until I was 20, and so a friend and I watched Howl's moving castle. After credits rolled my friend said, "So, want to watch Totoro next?" And I just silently cried and nodded.
Everyone needs to see “ The Wind Rises”. It’s my fav Ghibli film. It follows the life of a boy who wanted to be a pilot, but his eyesight is so poor his glasses mean he can’t. It takes place in the 1900s around the Second World War and it’s beautiful, the music is amazing, and everyone should see it at least once. It is reminiscent of the struggle in Oppenheimer, he’s an engineer who want to create planes, but knows the actions these planes are being used for, and it troubles him. There’s also plenty of supernatural-esque dream sequences and a love story. Highly recommended for watching at least once.
Studio Ghibli movies will always be my favourites because the animation is just beautiful to look at, and the messages some of them hold is touching. Totoro will always be my favourite, followed by spirited away because they were the first two studio ghibli movies I watched and also totoro is just such a vibe.
nausicaä of the valley of the wind is so underrated but i think spirited away, howl’s moving castle, & my neighbour totoro are also really good and popular for a reason
No love for Graveyard of the Fireflies? It's one of those movies you can't bear to watch again because just watching it once sears itself into your soul forever.
I remember the last one mainly because it was THE rumored movie amongst elementary kids. Like, this movie plays only ONCE a year, and everyone only knows that it’s a Saturday during summer break. Most kids thought of it as super scary, so it was like a contest who could watch the movie the longest. I only made it to the bridge where she has to hold her breath. I really think I should see it again, even if it scared me shitless back then.
I think spirited away was changed after 9/11 like the men in black II, spider man, monsters inc, lilo, and stitch, and other movies that were being worked on during 2001
I remember that my uncle gave me the DVD for Ponyo when I was a kid (around 2008-2010, in Argentina) for christmas, he just said he knew I liked cartoons and his wife told him to get me something that wasn't disney because I had watched all of those already. I loved it to pieces, but sadly, I watched the disk so much that it ended up getting scratched:'/ (to be fair, I watched it almost every day)
Always interesting to see other people’s top 5. For me, at least in this moment mine would be 1. Whisper of the Heart 2. Kiki’s Delivery Service 3. Princess Kaguya 4. Princess Mononoke 5. Spirited Away Top 3 have been pretty solid, the rest keep fluctuating lol
Can't believe princess monoke wasn't on this list
Will be in part 2 :D
The ending made me mad but yea, it was a great movie
I know I my opinion Princess Monoke
My EXACT thought.
There are only 60 seconds in the video and five spots on the list. Can't get them all.
As a Japanese, my most favorite movies of Ghibli are “Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind” and “Castle in the sky”. They have such deep meanings.
Same ❤
Castle in the sky is amazing!!
Nausicaa is the very best of Ghibli
nausicaa is my favorite too I think its super underrated
@@rockidactyl Yeeeeah, so true!

YASSS!! Kiki and Whisper of the Heart helped many of us find our true selves
Studio Ghibli is my favourite studio animation. Their films are goated. 😁
The tale of Princess Kaguya is so underrated.
But it was so boring 💀

Not having Princess Mononoke as 1 is a crime.
Right? And nausicaa too. Totoro is such a useless movie
Nobody gives a shit🎉🎉🎉🎉
Bruh istg the wind rises the best
Totoro isn't my top 5 but it's definately my top 10
Princess Monoke would’ve been my second, Spirited away just hits the very classic and sentimental feeling in me when I watch it.
The fact Arrietty isn't here is a travesty
I love Arriety. Such a good one. People don't mention that one much though.
Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, Spirited Away, Howl’s Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke, and Castle in the Sky are the five best Ghibli films
I love how Ghibli movies have meaning and references to other of their movies, And how it also references sometimes to Miyazaki's life.
Grave of the fireflies is the best 👌
And so fricking sad too 😢
ngl these movies hit hard
Grave of fireflies hit different though
One of my personal favorites was the cat returns
I'm looking forward to watching that movie and have high hopes! :D
I love that movie, it just really wholesome
Up on a poppy hill and when marnie was there is good also, they're my faves
How does no one mention "The wind rises"? It's one out of the very few anime that makes me tear up, how come people treat it like it doesn't exist
Oh i really hate this movie :)
I was honestly kind of let down by my neighbour totoro I had such big expectations and was kind of disappointed, but it’s a cute movie
The best ones are literally all of them. They individually posses something we all can relate to and make peace with. 🎉

Grave of the fireflies almost broke me, but it is brilliant
The wind rises

1. Porco rosso

Totoro was my first and favourite animation
We watchers worried away in school, we enjoyed it but also poked fun at it.

2. Chihiro
3. Grave of fireflies
4. Laputa

I just watched Totoro the other day and started ponyo last night. So excited to see what gonna happen!
I Wonder If the oscars banned ghibli since the last time a movie of this company was in the oscars it was during 6-7 years ago

All fo them are amazing
For me it's grave of the fireflies, boy and the heron, spirited away, princess mononoke, and Howl's moving castle (I haven't seen any of the others)
