Interestingly, from going from the Purion controller with a 500 wt/h battery to the Kiox controller and smart system with a 750 wt/h battery, I discovered that the smart system, especially when connected to your phone, uses a LOT more power. I initially thought that the 750 battery would give me a noticeable increase in range, but was sadly wrong!
Sure it does give you some more range, but definitely not around 30% more as I thought it might. Disabling the phone link, and not using the App, immediately saved significant power too.
And on the subject of the App, if you're using a derestriction chip or something similar, the bloody App will detect the tampering and mess up your ride, not something you want to find out after a 14 hour shift.... Thanks Bosch, it's not enough that I've paid you thousands of pounds, no you still want to be in control!

I just got my first emtb 2024 cube 160 HPC Action Team not had it out as yet few changes being made to remove alot of the orange leaving it grey black and blue but looks alot better! Left the fox 38s orange removed the grips etc for grey vans I'm just scared about the battery as never had an ebike before I haven't a clue what range you get from a 750w! I've replaced the stem for an Equaliser v2 funn and got Burgtec high rise 38s for it to get them carbon bars off, don't trust carbon as it is never mind in bars! But we're going out next weekend on them for a first ride but think I'll take it around the park first see what this battery is like

Battery life really comes down to the mode you use and how much climbing you do. Use the eMTB mode and it takes a lot of the thinking out and it delivers great performance.

Ordered the CUBE Stereo Hybrid HPC SLX 140 2023 a week back. My first eMountain bike. Seems to be the best bang for ones bucks from my research. Hope I'm as happy with it as you guys!

@@burntcrumpets5616 - Oh you will be very happy. I bought the exact same model as in the video for my wife for rail trails/gravel riding. It handles so good that we have been doing a bit of MTB riding. For a bike that has lower end suspension, it handles fantastic. It exceed my expectations, and I come from a motocross background.
The bike you're buying has even better equipment. Might be a bit heavier with the 750w battery, but you will get used to it in 10 minutes.
The bike will not come setup from the shop, so make sure you set the suspension/rebound dampening up for your weight. Sorry if I'm stating the obvious, but some people ride around with their bikes bouncing like a pogo stick. Good luck, and I hope you love it!

@@gjw45 hello. Thank you for your post. It's good knowing your partner is satisfied with their CUBE. I am experiencing some heebie-geebies on whether or not I've made the right decision on getting an ebike. I was an avid mountain biker way back (last century!) but never did I ever think that one day I'd be spending this sort of cash on something other than a car!
My reasoning is I've moved out into the sticks where it's very hilly (having come from N'LDN) & I'm no longer in my teens.
Luckily, the retailer that's supplying the bike asked for my weight so as to setup the correct suspension damping. Bloody good job as after all the "know how to" videos on RUclips regarding it I'm still none the wiser......🤔!

Great video! exactly what I was looking for, as picked up a cube e-hardtail through 99bikes, which is a great bike but want to be able to push harder through trails and single track, so looking at swapping for one of these.
Question, do you think the travel (at least on the front) could be upgraded over time? say another 10-20mm with a different fork?
I love the 160, had a quick test ride on the 160SL in a car park, but a bit out of my price range.
What i like about the 140 is that the frame is a good building block if you want to do upgrades in the future.
I was also tossing around the idea of the 120 Race model, which comes with a higher spec (mainly suspension) but I think that extra 20mm of travel would be worth it. Thoughts?

We have the 140 HPC SLX 750 on test currently (review will be live in a fortnight or so). It's a completely different bike in terms of ride dynamics. The larger battery dictates greater frame length, and the fork is set at 150. The overall higher parts spec is a nice upgrade, especially the tyres. RRP is $9299, club price is a few hundre less - so quite an upgrade. But it has been a tonne of fun to ride!

140 vs 160 for the novice casual rider. With the discounts they are similarly priced, most people might lean towards buying the 160 as it seems like better value. Would you say the 160 is a better purchase or the geometry will be unfriendly for normal riding conditions?

    • @Australianmountainbike
      @Australianmountainbike  10 месяцев назад +1

It really comes down to the riding you normally do. For a lot of purpose built MTB trails without the biggest features - 140 is likely excellent.

The recon doesn’t work that well on multi hits. You can juggle the rebound a bit but there is a reason why rockshox has more expensive models. The Deore kit is good.

We don't know. But you'd be crazy to open yourself up to the liability of doing that to any bike.
