I love dried mangos I’m wondering if I could add a little lime on it before putting it in? I love the flavor of those together and would normally put lime on my fresh mango
I have hundreds, the energy and time would be prohibitive at each fruit. I cannot give away enough. I’ll need to build something, it’s hot outside! The sun can do it, and mangoes aren’t rare, common ones that are for shipping and shelf life aren’t even that good. I know how to freeze dry but that’s worse!
You had a couple deep orange juicy jokers that were perfect. I just bought some recently looks exactly like that from Mexico. Deep, rich flavor and sugar amount.
sams club has AMAZING champagne mangoes and are extremely sweet when ripe. They come in a 18-22 pack for 10, so the price is great and the quality is really high.
I make sure they’re very dry before storing them and I add a “dry-dry” pack to them. You can also do what’s called “conditioning” them. Check out Darcy over at “The Purposeful Pantry”, she’s the dehydrating queen
Thank you for sharing pratical reason why. t i absolutely love mango jerky but so expensive and you get very little especially the organic ones which i prefer. i hate the sweetened ones no need for that plus tales the healthy part of it out im not a organic heqlthy nut but they tatse gross with the added sugar , im thinking of getting the machine for it thnks for inspiration
Mangoes are my favorite fruit, but wowzer are they expensive now! I even buy mango nectar to drink, and it is just decadent. I also have the Titan tools, but I confess I don’t use either the peeler or the julienne cutter because I nearly took off fingers with them. They are wickedly sharp. I’d love to see how you use them without hurting yourself!
It depends on a lot of factors. In my opinion...The way to keep them stored the longest is in a cooler dry place away from light sealed in an air right container with an added moisture absorber pack. If you do all of that you’re generally safe to get a few years at least out of them. I hope that helps! 💜
I have had several presto Dehydrator’s and they work well but dehydrate unevenly, don’t fit quite as much and eventually do break. One of mine melted down and it was quite dangerous if I hadn’t noticed it. Now we have an Excalibur, it costs about as much as 3-4 prestos but it’s a tank, made of medal, dries more evenly, has a timer, can remove shelves and use as a fermentation or proofing box. It depends on your plans, goals and how much you think you’ll use it. I hope that helps
I have the digital 9 tray version. I would suggest going for the non digital one. I find it very annoying because I can’t pause the cycle without resetting the whole cycle. It doesn’t save the settings (which I’m sure can be a good thing for other reasons) so definitely recommend Excalibur but just the manual knob one…and for sure the 9 tray!
Sounds yummy! My current addiction is dehydrated pineapple. I am such a fatty I can go through a half gallon jar in a couple of days, LOL. Excalibur is the BEST! Congrats!
I’m sorry for glossing over it! I didn’t even realize I did. A dry dry pack is a small packet filled with silica gel, like the packets that come in electronics or things sold wrapped in plastic. It absorbs moisture and holds it in to keep the container dry. If you search for dry dry packet online you should be able to find them if you’re interested 💜
@@FermentedHomestead , are those packets chemicals ? Concerned may contaminate what has been dehydrated and stored. I'm dehydrating some in the oven at the moment as a test, first time trying. Our oven has dehydrating setting. Enjoying your channel 😊
@@karenelizabeth9496 they are silica gel packs. They are not something you can eat but I have never had an issue putting the packs in dehydrated food. Its not required but it keeps them shelf stable for much longer. That’s so cool! I hope you love it 💜

Watching this video again, and those low temp mangos look awesome. I bought some at my grocery store a while back but they haven't had any back in stock after the rona. :(
Well it is a video so I figure talking is better than staring at you for ten minutes. If you’d just like the instructions feel free to find a blog on Pinterest and use the skip to recipe button

They literally taste like candy! My new favorite snack
They really do! So yum!!
Your video has come at the right time.
My mango tree is just ripening up and I've got some fallen ones that I'm going to dehydrate this morning.
I’m a little jealous 😂 I’m glad you found a good way to preserve them!!
@@FermentedHomestead They turned out ok 'cept I over dried them a bit.

You should definitely try lime and tajin, or even basic lime and salt 😁

What size silica packet do you use in a quart?

Hello from Australia.

Oh yum! Haha! I’m totally the same! I can’t just have a little bit, if I have some I have to eat it all
Haha! Me too. NOT a good idea 😁😛
Whether we take out fully dried or feathery dried?
Personal choice, I like it a bit chewey but it won’t be shelf stable for as long
Can i dry without dehydrated tray?
I’m not sure what you mean
What is a dry pack that you mentioned in passing? Where do you get them?

Do wish you kept saying a temp of 95 but you did not say it that is in Celcius or Ferheite scale. thanks for your video.Ashley
Good point! We use Fahrenheit! I’ll try and remember to specify but it’s so natural for me I don’t even think about it!
Can we dry it unter the sun ?
I don’t see why not, I’ve never done it though
Sprinkle with tahin before dehydrating.
Can I grind the dehydrated mango into powder
That’s a great idea! Would be perfect for smoothies or fermented drinks.
