it has a lot planned for the future a sequel animated series with a stacked cast and even movies have been talked about, Vin diesel is at the head of a lot it.
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames definitely do it may have shown all of the official and official mod maps ( except fjordur don’t know why you didn’t actually show the trailer ) but you need to see the trailers to Ark II it’s amazing!!!
So wholesome to watch your first reactions to these trailers. Hope you enjoy the game! It has a single player mode as well as online PvP or PvE options, and a full story that unravels the mystery behind why the dinosaurs and you exist. The Fjordur trailer btw was the unofficial fan made version. Great take, but you should defo watch the official one 🙂
Thanks for letting us know about that last one. We got these off a playlist given to us so not sure why the official one wasn’t on there 🙃 Happy to hear that this game has pve cuz we that appeals to us more than pvp. 😀
Ya'll should check out the creature spotlight trailers. They show off each creature as it was added, and are each pretty short videos on their own. Would get to see more of the ocean stuff too :)
The device in the wrist at 1:31 is called a specimen implant and in the story, it is constantly monitoring you. The story also mentions it acting as a translator and considering that respawning is canon in this game, it is possible that it is in some way connected to that. In-game it projects a hologram that acts as your inventory menu. The smaller creatures at 10:29 are just referred to as Nameless. They are weakened by a special kind of light called "charge light" and will hide underground until the light goes away. You can protect yourself from them with the bio-luminescent creature at 9:35, which is called a Bulbdog. The larger creature behind the Nameless is called a Reaper and is basically a cross between a dinosaur and the xenomorphs from the Alien movies. Like the Nameless, it is also weakened by charge light. The large creature at 12:34 is a Gasbag. It is descended from tardigrades and is capable of inhaling gases from the surrounding air and then expelling those gases through a membrane in its underbelly to achieve flight. It is also incredibly adorable. The small creature at 15:44 is called a Ferox and possesses the ability to ingest a material known simply as “element” and transform from its regular state into a far larger and more powerful form. It’s spawn code even refers to it as a “Shapeshifter”. The fleshy monstrosity at 20:17 is Rockwell. He was once human but had the bright idea of injecting element directly into his own bloodstream. Turns out he didn’t have as much control over the resulting mutations as the Ferox. He is also played by David Tennant. The platypus-like creature at 21:03 is a Maewing. They are a genetically engineered species designed to look after any babies present on the ship, regardless of species. The creature at 21:20 is a Shadowmane - a kind of hybrid of a lion and a lionfish. They were created by Rockwell and are capable of turning invisible and teleporting short distances. They are very quick both on land and in water and possess a poison that will weaken anything that attacks them. The small creature at 21:24 is a Noglin, whose name is literally a combination of noggin and goblin, because its whole gimmick is attaching itself directly to something else’s head and taking control of them. There are more than 180 different creatures in ARK and most of them are tameable, with each possessing their own unique abilities. Some are clones of extinct species, some are genetically engineered species that are often based on human mythology and others are strange new creatures that have evolved in the aftermath of an apocalyptic event on Earth. There are even some species in the game that may be alien in origin, such as the Astrocetus (space whales).
Technically, they're all genetically altered species. Even the ones based on extinct species have extensive genetic rewrite, including the humans. For instance, the Dilos we find on the beach? Helena lists them as being just over half the size of their prehistoric counterparts. But even the smallest adult species on fossil record was 28ft long. Yet they're still only about the size of a big dog in-game. That means even the "stubbier" survivors are over 7 feet high.
@@joshuagross3151 finally someone else who actually knows some of the backstory also about the 7ft tall survivor theory, even if that was sarcastic it has some evidence, for example a single wall in game is approximately 2m high ( no way to exactly measure it but it seems to be that size based on surrounding objects ) and the default survivor would bang their head if they stood on their toes so it is likely that the humans were either genetically engineered to be taller or it was a bi-product of slow evolution due to the smaller gravitational pull caused by their increased distance from earth ie the Arks which could also explain why a certain species of titanosaur could achieve such extreme levels of gigantism. There is also likely to be a much higher oxygen concentration in the artificial atmosphere aiding in the gigantism in insects, animals and potentially humans but this is all speculation as we have no direct evidence for such theories, only time will tell. And the devs too
Element is it’s common name given to it by its discoverers but the mutation mad Edmund Rockwell decided to ‘rediscover’ it and coined it Edmundium! So humble, also I can’t believe I didn’t see that the shadowmane was a cross between a lion fish and a lion, I thought it was just a weird ID that it was 50% fish 50% lion and then another 50% fish or something like that. Feels silly now
Ark, one of the biggest survival games to launch in the recent decade. It launched in early access back in 2015 and released officially on 2017. You, a human survivor wake up basically butt naked on one of various environments - forced to survive with your wits and whatever you can scrounge together. The main appeal of Ark of course being the fact that you aren’t alone: either your friends and fellow survivors or your army of tamed prehistoric beasts are your companions. The game has six story based maps, and several free maps that whole not canon to the games plot, are more fun environments to explore. This game can lead to some crazy moments with a buddy or two, and I find myself more personally attached to my tamed animal companions in video games than I’d like to admit. Many of the animals are based on some semblance of a real prehistoric animal, but you know - modified for the sake of fantasy video game loveliness. You can even name them! Some of my favorite takes were: Chips: My trusty sea otter that sat on my shoulder throughout all six mains story maps. Sue: My first perfectly bred Tyrannosaurus Rex, and one the few to make it through to endgame. She was one of my go to battle mount. Charlie: My other big battle mount, an Acrocanthosaurus with a beautiful black spine. Diego: My Thylacoleo (Or Bear-Cat for those who aren’t familiar), the perfect dungeon and carving companion. Silver: My Argentsvis, a massive prehistoric vulture you can ride on - and my first real effective flying animal. Gizmo: My first Noglin, those little purple alien like creatures that kinda look like Stitch from *Lilo and Stitch.* As you can see, they can possess people by chomping on their heads. Drogoz: My first Wyvern, because dragons make everything better. Sobek: Lastly we have big big one bugger off prehistoric alligator: a deinosuchus. He was one of my go to underwater tames. This game really will make you get attached to every animal you take and take into battle, especially when they unfortunately die due to in battle casualties. While the game had a bumpy development, and a rocky PVP base - I still love it to death. It’s got dinosaurs after all!
dude the game is so massive with such a big community and over 200k online players 24/7 yet it doesn't have that much advertisement or not that many influencers or youtubers make content with it. ITS SO WEIRD. I started playing 2 years ago and I NEVER HEARD OF IT before that. Kinda pisses me off as I am a massive gamer and try a lot of things my whole life
@@beastmasterbg Ark’s popularity had unfortunately died down shortly after its full release, as there were just so many other games on the market that it got kinda snuffed. Although the developers made their bank with the game, what with the early access sales and DLC. I still avidly enjoy it, because friggin dinosaurs and dragons.
Been playing ARK for a little over 7 years now and I love seeing new people find out about the game. Introducing my friends to the game over the years has been some of my best moments in the game. Plus it’s funny to watch them make the same mistakes I made when I first started, wasn’t funny when it happened to me but it sure was when I was watching it happen to them safely from my mount.
As a long time follower and sometimes commentor, I must tell you that I LOVE Ark. It is my most played game on Steam. I JUST got back into with my friends. We are currently continuing a playthrough we started a year ago and are on the Map Ragnarok. Im approaching 1500 hours in Ark and cant wait for the next 1500 hours!
You have an extremely wholesome comment section! Everyone absolutely adores Ark! It’s so good to see lots of people who enjoy the same game and that love talking about it, I’m sure if you took up the game you would have endless amounts of support, tips and tricks and aid pointing you in the right direction!
There is a huge story that spans out for eons, it’s just you have you be the best of the best to make it to the end, it takes a ton of time, survival of course, a lot of gear, resources, tames, etc. but if you actually make it to the end of each map you can ascend, and those cut scenes are always so cool.
AAAAAAHHHHHH DONT REMIND ME!!!!! I’m 10,000 hours past that beautiful moment!!! I’d say when you first play a game play it knowing absolutely nothing, though I did spent my first couple hundred hours never getting past wood and with an absolute legion of dodos, it was the most enjoyable experience of my life! Unawareness is bliss!
Ark is interesting in that if you die, canonically you do respawn, hence the waking up naked on the beach with a strange emblem embedded in your wrist. Its not a multiplayer only game either, you can start a singleplayer map, adjust the difficulty settings of things and go at it solo. Granted the group aspect is a big part of the game for alot of people. The story is rather fascinating, they also are making an Ark Animated Series that looks like it's going to delve into various Lore characters you learn about ingame from reading ingame notes and such but don't really get to actually see much due to the nature of the game itself being more of a sandboxy open world survival game. They released a trailer for the series some time ago. Fun fact Rockwell(The big abomination thing you told to shut up) is voiced by David Tennant the 10th Doctor from Doctor Who!
My favorite game. As you see so many different sceneries, they are from different islands, there are 11 official maps to play, each with particular dinosaurs and environments, some created by gaming mod community, also many other maps and apparatus, created by the game mod community. The diamond shaped jewel in the arm is called an Implant, it's the characters interaction menu for building items, creating or using tools and weapons and many other features
I've played Ark on and off since day one EA launch in 2015 and it is hands down my favorite survival sandbox game. I put in about 1500 hours through Scorched Earth and then another 1700 here and there since Aberration. I'd binge for a month or two, swear to quit and uninstall, only to come back a couple months later for another binging session. It is an insanely large, very flawed and incredibly fun/frustrating/addictive game that has endless ways to enjoy. I can't wait for Ark 2...
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames for most, but if you get your bearings right, then it has no equal The developers made their own music so as long as your covering Ark content it’s copyright free ( even if it’s not Ark content the devs are kind and won’t care to be honest ) and unless your someone who doesn’t like game music I suggest listening to it while you play, even just in the background as it just seems to make it more enjoyable ( probably because some of the music literally has a world record under its belt )
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames just a heads up, you won’t get through it all, there are multiple channels where teams of people have full series trying to obtain every last piece of the lore, posting daily hour long videos, 7 years later, barely scratched the surface
this made me happy ark is a big part of my life right now it can be frustrating at times (especially on console) but I love it flaws and all. I have never experienced anything like this game in my life and I've been playing since the early 90s. it's an animal completely it's own and leads to so many fun adventures.
The Fjordur trailer was fan made. There is an official trailer that higlights the 3 new creatures they added. The Center, Ragnarok, Valguero, Crystal Isles, Lost Island, and Fjordur were made by modders for the Steam version and then Wildcard (Ark creators) incorporated them into the official gameplay. Nice reactions.
They were made by Mave ( RUclips ) I highly recommend watching for fan made trailers and cinematic shots ( his cinematic shots video for scorched earth is beyond amazing, he gets the right gamma, time of day, lighting, weather and settings! It’s absolutely stunning!!! )
I'm so glad you guys finally checked out Ark! Now you should play it! Once you play you're gonna get hooked (it's a VERY addictive game). I haven't read all the comments so apologize if i'm repeating this but the maps The Center, Ragnarok, Valguero, Crystal Isles, Lost Island and Fjordur are community mod maps that were made into non-canon official maps by Wildcard. The Ark Modding Community is one of the best as the modders are really passionate about their work and Wildcard even sponsors modders from time to time! Also the story of Ark is absolutely thrilling and now that Vin Diesel is an Executive Producer on Ark 2 I personally am even more excited! ARK is an awesome game!
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames Ark has a story and Ark 2 will be continuing that story. Also Ark 2 is gonna be a completely different game in terms of mechanics. You might want to familiarise yourself with the story of Ark before you start Ark 2. Plenty of vids on youtube explaining the whole storyline in detail but it's a whole different experience getting to know the story while playing the game! Anyway, you guys are awesome! Keep those reactions coming!
ARK has evolved so much since that first trailer. It’s a completely new game from back then in late 2015. This game is one of my all time fave games! The graphics and music are god tier! There have been many added dinos and creatures since then and some look different now. (They remade the Argentavis, the giant bird, as well as the Sarco, a giant crocodile) 3:32 Those are loot drops! 5:21 Yes. That was on of The Island bosses and her minions. 6:10 This is Scorched Earth. It was actually finished before the main game was! It was also the first DLC for the game! 9:30 Abberation. One of the best DLCs imo. I loved watching y’all’s reactions! There’s so much to explain so I can not tell you all about it in a RUclips comment. I HIGHLY suggest this game! If you really wanted to and learn how to play, I’d be more than happy to help. The game has some amazing lore and story! There are several maps, and not all are official. The Island (base game) Scorched Earth (official DLC) Abberation (official DLC) Extinction (official DLC) Genesis 1 and 2 (official DLC) Any other DLC, like The Center, Valguero, Ragnarock, Lost Island, Crystal Isles, and Fjordur are not official. Fun fact: Genesis 2 is the largest map in the entire game.
@@FriendlyKat fun fact! The music literally has a world record and the Genesis 2 map is one of the largest fixed ( not randomly generated ) maps of any large scale game ever!!! Not counting the area outside of the main surface area as the rest of the rings and ship (though your not meant to go there) have an actual surface which If you count that it would make it THE largest fixed map of any large scale game EVER!!!
At 9:37 these are called bulb dogs and they are one of the most useful pets you can get in that map as they can help repel those gremlin looking things using their own light source the bulb dogs aren't the only ones who have a natural light to them there are also hawks and lizards that have those abilities the alien near the end of aberration trailer works like the xenomorphs
You guys seriously need to continue the Ark stuff, from the trailers for Ark 2 and the animated series, to the creature spotlights from the old days, or even the Ark Additions mod trailers (cause lets be real, those creatures are basically unofficial official creatures)
I LOVE this game as my 2,919 hours playing since release will attest to. My group plays on a private server run by a friend of mine and play strictly PVE. We have played every map that has been released and are now on the latest one Fjordur.
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames You're in luck then. Ark is available on xbox, playstation, and nintendo switch. The ability to get private servers on console is there as well, although you'll need a pc to set that up. You can play together in a tethered situation though in a single player style mode that basically emulates a private server, you just need to stay relatively near each other.
There definitely is a story and single player offline modes, it’s just mostly told in the background through gameplay and notes found around maps and stuff like that, rather than a straight up multi-stage Campaign kinda story. There are plenty of great story summaries and explanations here on RUclips if you’re curious and interested in checking some of those out!
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames absolutely! I’ve always thoroughly enjoyed games that embed large portions of their stories into the background and gameplay mechanics, but they definitely do usually require a bit of ‘going out of your way’ to get the full scope and understanding of lol. Even if there aren’t any reactions to them, hopefully you guys check some of those summaries and explanations out and enjoy! Cause they answer like 99% of the questions you guys were having throughout lol
The crystal in the arm is the Specimen Implant it is a strange, unique device implanted in the left arm of every survivor player and it basically allows you to enter your inventory and crafting.
3:25 so there's a lot of backstory here.. The Arks are all huge space stations orbiting Earth. The Extinction map you saw, with the desolate scifi city, is where humanity used to exist. It has miniature proto-arks on the surface there around what used to be Earth. The Genesis 1 map is a VR simulation world, and in the Genesis 2 map you're streamed to a ringworld-spaceship with all sorts of artificial worlds, searching for a new habitable planet. An unknown time ago humanity discovered a special material dubbed "element" which granted breakthrough technologies like teleportation, large scale cloning and eco-engineering, advanced robotics and so on. Basically a tech-macguffin. It also turned out to be poisonous and to have a sort of malicious fungal-like hive mind, and ended up corrupting everything it was used in. At the same time a war between humans broke out in which lots of element munition was spent around the Earth, poisoning it and causing humanity to die out. Before humanity went extinct they used their tech to create the Arks to evolve and stabilize experimental biomes with a continuation of terrestrial life, so that at the right time they would descend back from orbit to reseed the Earth. The spaceship is another project, to cultivate terrestrial-ish life and colonize a new world. You see dinosaurs and mythological creatures because the engineers of the Arks played around with a lot of creative license, and had technology to recreate movie-inspired dinosaurs, engineer mythological beasts, or even create artificial worlds with tweaked laws of physics - the "Island" is a primitive environment with dinosaurs basically, "Aberration" is a world that played with an infusion of "magic" and mythological creatures, and has kind of a fantasy medieval feel to it. This Ark however broke down and is partly exposed to the vacuum of space which has caused unpredictable mutations. The "Scorched Earth" Ark is basically a harsh desert environment with a lot of fictional, but original creatures (save for the wyverns). There's a storyline, in that as civilizations have come and gone on the Arks and they've maintained populations of clone-seeded dinosaurs and humans, one scientist based on the profile of a dead 19th century alchemist managed to break out of the Island Ark, and utilize the element to corrupt and take over the Arks. Through the story you follow him to Earth where you deal with his influence there, then possess an avatar in the spaceship to clear it as well.
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames it is! I should note like the others, however long its been since humanity went extinct, enough time has passed for even this eldritch machinery to start breaking down. Like the other dude said the "reseed protocol" has failed, and instead worlds have lived out their lives in a sort of physical version of the Matrix. Until their population grows to the point where it triggers the monitoring system's sustainability limits, and those obelisks fire up to purge the world and reboot it. Hence you find old abandoned cities, temples and colosseums and such.
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames Morning from Aus. That sounds great, the game should have more coming soon as it gets closer to the release of Ark 2 later on. So more content for you guys :)
It’s brilliant how Ark starts out super primitive, then the story takes you all the way to highly advanced tek, and the game is ending on maps that bring you back to the beginning primitive life! It’s by far the best game I’ve ever played, it’s just hard to tell your friends “You should play this Dinosaur game with me!” 😂
That’s the beauty of it!, you progress through the game from primitive and slowly getting more advanced, and so does the game around you! It truly is survive and evolve
I was really happy to see you two watching the trailers of my favorite game, Ark is a huge but beautiful game, i hope you enjoyed id as much as i did. Have a nice day :D
The idea behind the game is that you wake up, naked in one of these maps where creatures from times long ago are freely roaming. The whole story is quite hard to explain but in short, an alien element caused earth to be devastated and uninhabitable so the aliens responsible take creatures and people from all throughout Earth’s history and drop them into space stations (called Arks) which simulate life on earth to try and see what earth was like so that they may one day fix it and help humanity recolonise. A bunch of other stuff happens in the story to do with one particular test subject going mad and trying to take over for himself but that’s complicated.
nope, human got alien tech and makes Element but humans are greedy. They ended up war each faction till destroyed which is Extinction map. Everytime you woke up is stimulation from Ark. We're already in Ark since in beginning for thousands years. Better read lore properly , this is too long to explain
@@johannesvalentino1650 I’m sorry that I didn’t read every fucking dosier. I don’t have the time to do that. I gave such a general rap up of the story.
This is the first I've ever heard about 'Aliens' everything I've read points more towards past humans and transhumans building everything before everything went to hell.
@@Tazkar I never read any of the things that bring up humans. A lot of the story that I pieced together was through just playing the game and so I sort of guessed Aliens because of the technology and because of the Overseer because for some reason I always assumed that the game takes place in the 21st century
@@WillowTheGremlin Well there are aliens. Element(sentient) and Humans started everything. Btw our current Survival in ARK takes place in 24th century.
I'd be remiss if I didn't recommend Neddy the Noodle's fan made Ark Survival Stories and Creature Dossiers. He and some other players did a cinematic reenactment of the stories from the Survivor notes in game with voice actors and everything. Really well done.
lol just re watched this. I love that you guys have seen this. I have almost 10k hours into the game and have been heavily playing since the newest map release of Ark: Fjordur. There's about 1-13 maps now, some are paid for.. some are free... not including all the Modded maps that you can also play. It isn't online only. you can fun single player with others... run your own server if you pay for a server, play PVE or PVP on their official servers. I don't think it had the ARK 2 trailer in there. Can't wait for the Animated series to air. BTW till I think 10am tomorrow... steam summer sale is going and you can get this game cheap.... some of it is also included with the xbox pc play pass.
Such a beautiful PvE game. Awesome options for hardcore or not, taming and breeding speeds etc. Did you guys have a look? Mostly a simple story of people with the power to create worlds and put you in it, that explains itself in its experience boxes/notes/dossiers. Most maps primitive, only bosses and the occasional Dino are fantasy. The video showed a ton of end game stuff. It is very primitive and immersive on almost any map early on. The way you guys reacted I bet you'd truly love this game PvE solo/co op. Living in fear of raptors and t rexes is beautiful. Don't go in the water.
Neddy The Needle has the explore notes (ark lore) vids on his page and some of the best work with visual sight if the story while also each journal has a voice actor reading it and sounding like what the person might sound like because ark survivors come fr all different time period and places
The wonder on her face makes me remember why I love Ark so dam much. 8 years later and I’m still playing it. Can’t say that about a lot of other games.
Fun Fact, some of the maps you're looking at...are Mods. Players built them from the ground up, sometimes even adding their own creatures, and the game devs openly supported and welcomed most of them to main game.
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames I think there used to be actual mod competition events hosted by the devs with rewards at the end. There definitely were photo gallery events submitted by players to show off their world. In no small part has Ark's success come from the devs fully embracing the Mod Community.
The little Australian Robot HLNA is a companion allows you too teleport around and acts as a shop and she tells you lore about the game it's all about some couple survivors one got mad over some crazy element and others were just trying to survive and there's more but too long to explain
ARK is a massive and complicated game. It's a hell of a lot of fun though, also incredibly frustrating at times. It basically has 2 modes, PVE (player versus environment) and PVP (player versus player). PVE is both offline and online while PVP is only online.
I have hundreds of hours and I could not click on this video fast enough! Also I choked up a bit when you referenced Buckbeak because that was the name of my first Argentavis (Big flying bird) I ever tamed in the game!
At it's base, it is a dinosaur survival game. You can fight them or tame them. You start on an island and as the DLC's were added over the 10 years that it's been out, they have slowly told the story behind it, added the lore, and with each new DLC, added new biomes, creatures, and technologies. The story and final DLC's have recently come out and ARK 2, the sequel to the game is slated for release in the end of 2023. This is one of the most fun games I've ever played and with it being totally sandbox, you can play it how ever you want. It's most fun to play with others as a tribe together or even as rivals. It can be played PVE or PVP. You can also host your own server and invite your friends. There's so much to explore and learn about this game it would take you having a channel just for ARK. LOL.
just a little note only 1 map is on earth all the others are on massive space stations that hold "the seeds of life" as Helana puts it and the one of the space ship is the ship looking for a new world to colonize. Might be fun to try out for the both of you.
You can play it by yourself or with select people. I usually play with just me and a family member. The main maps you can find journals that tell you a little about the lore and you can figure out why when you die you can see your own dead body when you return.
I missed it on release but yes! One of the people who requested this. I second tne other request to check out the creature spotlight trailers as well. Now just waiting on certain monster Death Battles on the other channel ;) lol
Every map releases new tech weapons, machines, and dinos. The game's story is that humanity and most life were corrupted by element (Living Metal Basically). They put humans into cryo stasis until the earth was ready for habitation again, but a Philosopher (Rockwell) found Element somewhere on the Aberration and was corrupted into a living A.I of sorts. The game is single-player and multiplayer, so you can play however you want. Ark 2 is releasing next year if you like this you should check out the trailer, also they have a animated show trailer
Here is how it goes. Base game is the first trailer Story DLC-s are Schorched Earth(Desert) Aberration(Underground caves) Extinction(Earth and Titans) Genesis part 1(Little Robot and simulation) Genesis part 2(Space ship, Little robot HLN-a and Rockwell(The evil guy) which is the last story DLC. Other DLC-s with Griffins and mythological stuff are non story and they are free to buy. They are made by people in comminity. Fans and modders.
Man the original trailers bring back memories. Been playing off and on since release. Back when there was 1 map and no biomes XD Sadly wildcard never really did alot with water. Gen 1 has a realm that's mostly water...but it's a shame they never continued the trend of maps around specific biomes. Would have loved an all water or all ice map.
Their are 6 story maps and many oyher maps The island Scorched Earth Abberation Extinction GENESIS 1 & 2 are the story maps Ark 2 is about to drop next year
lmao good timing, soon were gonna have ark 2 starring Vin Diesel so you should check that out too XD other than that this gotta be one of the biggest, most advanced and densely packed survival games to ever grace the video games (hence why many would say the game is pretty janky at times or difficult to run on some computers), i started learning this game on the hardest map of its time, the smoldering hot desert map when it came out, and it took me like days of constant suffering and death to realize the only reliable source of water on that map are the water bugs, and eventually even though i was a solo player i became a pretty good powerhouse that can use electricity and travel the desert all on my own single handedly taming and destroying all the dinosaurs that once ate me like a grain of rice. but never have i "evolved" to the end game, ive never been farther than modern electricity but the game evolves from nothing, to primal, all the way to scifi as you can see....true evolution. sidenote: yes, by nature of most survival games you tend to start off as close to if not completely naked and you immediately have to learn your basics of survival or....well you end up dead in a bush somewhere or something.
They do give story and a lot of it for sure. Personaly I nearly know all of it and if I tried to tell what I know to you it would take at least 2 hours.
You should check out Neddy the noodle who goes through and re-enacts the explorer notes(pages and scrolls you find on the 6 official maps) that explain the story through the pov of certain survivors before you. That is how the story of ark is told with a few cut scenes in the last map. There is exsplanation for the Dino’s, the worlds, why you wake up naked on a beach and why you wake up again after dying. It’s very intresting and they are actually making an animated series on the story told in those notes
A little late so someone might have probably already covered this, but ARK is more than a dinosaur game. It's much much more. I don't want to get into too much of the backstory and lore because there is tons, but the premise is that each "map" is its own unique "ARK" save for the Extinction and Genesis 1 & 2 maps. ARKs are basically biodomes that are floating in space being observed by higher beings. These beings have been collecting humans throughout various different eras in time using the ARKs as a means to test their survival capabilities to see if they have what it takes to "ascend" to a higher level of being and save the Earth from dying. This is why there are other various creatures other than dinosaurs as well as the inclusion of all the high-tech stuff that show up later on in the game. The main story maps include: The Island, Scorched Earth, Aberration, Extinction, then lastly Genesis 1 & 2. On the Island, there are 3 different sub bosses you have to beat. Once you do, you gain access to the final boss. If you beat the final boss, then canonically, you're character "ascends" to a higher level of being and is then moved to the next ARK, Scorched Earth. There you must face all new challenges and fight an all new boss that allows you to ascend to the Aberration map, which is a badly damaged and dying ARK installation. If you beat the bosses of Aberration, then the higher beings observing you deem you strong enough to potentially save the Earth and ascend you to the Earth in the Extinction map. Most players thought that Extinction would be the end, but as with most games...if they are making money, they will keep finding ways and thus they made Genesis 1 and 2, which take place on a massive multi-biomed starship. Even though story-wise, it's best to play the story related maps in a certain order, you can essentially start on whatever map you want in the series and just go from there.
I always believe your in-game character is a simulant and your actual body is asleep on a ship in space waiting for news that discovered planets are safe or at least survivable in a colonization manner.
Okie! I’ll be brief cause Ark is one of my favorite games of all time, the maps (Island, Scorched Earth, Aberration, Extinction, Genesis part 1 and 2) are all story maps while all the other maps in between are custom made maps, originally created by fans and then touched up and imported into the vanilla game, the developers have been doing this since The Center which was right after the Island. Story wise I’ll keep it brief still, your a clone spawned in onto the island the very first ark where the notes and journals begin, each ark is a test of survival and yes every map up until extinction is a space station orbiting earth holding inside ecosystems that are unchanging for when a survivor goes through all the arks the story characters went through to also end up on earth and see how the planet is dead and unable to bring back life because and this is a major piece in the deeper themes, element is a material that came from space and landed on earth and can be anything you want it to be, organic matter support (some of the animals on earth were genetically engineered with elemental apart of them) and that leads me to the point of how are they’re dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals with also mythical and creatures of science fiction, its all element, it gave humanity a massive leap in advancement to be able to create almost anything they wanted like wyverns on scorched earth and the titans you saw on extinction, but this is how earth is in the state that it is, element kinda gained a mind of its own after so much human tampering and mass produced itself that now it’s called corruption and it got so bad that it drove into the earths core and our planet doesn’t spin on an access anymore which lead to a faster end of all life, so now a survivor has to fight through or tame the titans that stand as tests once more to face off against the king titans which y’all saw at the beginning and end to then defeat him and activate the system to bring the arks home to plant the seed of life and re do everything, the arks landed and have been wiping any element clean out of the soil. Also lastly and importantly some humans evolved using element and advanced technology to become beings of pure energy who left earth and haven’t been seen ever again, but one of the characters whose left notes on the arks and on earth became a homo deus which is the name for the pure beings of energy to guided you from a far on your journey. Now onto genesis colony ship, it’s a plan B if plan A-rk fails it’s so that earths seed can spread to another planet far far away from the corrupt element that took earth, but someone else was able to connect to the ship and quote on quote organically 3D print himself and take over the ship, he’s infused with element and seeks to be a god and spread himself all throughout the galaxy, but the character whose a homo deus no longer being human needed to stay on earth to help rebuild life and took a piece of her human personality that remained and put it into a small robot that eventually became her own person until the survivor defeats the antagonize whose been taking over the ship and she sacrifices herself to make sure he dies with the rest of the ship after it’s found a planet suitable for earths life and that parts breaks off while the rest of the ship with antagonist crash into another planet close by. I’m real sorry that was messy and I could have done a much deeper and better organized job but there’s a lot to talk about detail wise but in my poor simplicity that’s the story so far! And we will be continuing with Ark 2 on the new alien planet where earths other animals, flora and us are the real alien invaders, which I’m hoping story wise we get the option to connect with the natives instead of repeating our own real life history
No need to apologize. It’s tough to summarize a games complete story especially when there are so many aspects of it you love and it feels like you’re not going to be doing it justice if you leave any of those amazing parts out 🤩 We appreciate you taking the time to help us try and make sense of this all. Seems like a fun and immersive world with a story we need to check out more on 🙂
I’ve been playing this game for the better part of seven years, and if you guys want to know more about the lore there are videos going over explorer notes which cover perspectives of survivors living in the environments you saw in the official maps: island, scorched earth, aberration, extinction, genesis part 1 and 2. It explains why everything is the way it is and why the creatures exist. It’s a lot cause they’ve really built up the world, and the animated series which should be coming out this year will go over some of it and expanding it in others. The sequel game comes out in about a years time max too hopefully and should add more to that which I’m dying to see both it and the animated series.
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames I don’t believe we know yet. We do know it’s going to be fourteen thirty minute episodes following Helena Walker, one of the survivors that we follow through the expansions via her explorer notes she left behind, but it’s not clear if it’s going to be a quick rundown of the story or a multi season show as they’ve said it will lead up to ark 2’s story.
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames if you have any questions about the storyline or anything you want to know after watching these I’m more than willing to share what I know
To try and summarize the story of ARK (Obviously Gonna be spoilers): Basically, an apocalyptic event happened on Earth and humanity came up with two different solutions to save life as we know it. One faction of humans called the United Republics of Earth constructed a series of space station habitats called ARKs which orbit around Earth and are populated with clones of different people from all throughout history, along with genetically engineered creatures ranging from dinosaurs to dragons. The ARKs are designed to terraform Earth into being habitable again and then release the life they are carrying onto the planet. The Island, Scorched Earth and Aberration are all ARKs. Aberration is a malfunctioning ARK, hence the particularly strange creatures present there. Extinction takes place on Earth and is populated with creatures that have evolved since the apocalypse. The two Genesis maps focus on the Genesis colony ship, which was constructed by a different faction of humans called the Terran Federation. Genesis part 1 takes place in a virtual simulation used for training purposes, while Genesis part 2 takes place on the colony ship itself and ends with the ship reaching its destination, which will be the setting for ARK 2. The Center, Ragnarok, Valguero, Crystal Isles, Lost Island and Fjordur are all non-canon and as such do not fit within the main story of the game and can pretty much just do whatever they want.
The early ark maps started of "simple" so u arent exposed to too much in the beginning, ark actually isnt set in the past but in the future, cloned and newly created, biologicly engineered creatures, but if someone just wants a dinosaur game the first maps are pretty much that, nothing to crazy. And it has Singleplayer/Coop if u guys intressted in trying it out for urselfs.
Brontosaurus, triceratops, utahraptor... The blue thing was a supply crate, and the croc was a sarcosuchus. The dragon is one of the three bosses of the Island. The huge floating pillar was one of the obelisks. there are always three on a map: green, blue, and red, like the Ark logo. Yes, it's an online game, the servers are always online. Unless they aren't XP Max 70 people on a server, though the more people are online the laggier it gets. That giant spider was the Broodmother, another of the Island bosses. But yes, Ark has giant rideable nopes, too. Technically wyverns... only two legs lol. But everyone says dragons anyway. And yes, those were vultures. Turkeys do make an appearance, but only during the Turkey Trials event at Thanksgiving, and you _DO NOT_ want to mess with those little bastards unless you're riding a giga (the huge cave dino from The Center trailer). They will eff you up otherwise. The mantis was not on fire, it was carrying torches in its forelegs. Unlike other creatures, mantises can carry and use tools. The giant sand demon was a deathworm, the hazard of walking the dunes Poison wyverns spit balls of corrosive acid, you were right the first time lol The beast at the end was the Manticore, the boss of Scorched Earth. Griffins, actually. Did you notice that the other rider was riding a unicorn, not a white horse? Ragnarok is also the first map to feature a new kind of wyvern: the ice wyvern. It's my main map :) XD The Ice Queen isn't an insect, she's an alpha deathworm The thing on the arm is a survivor implant. Carries the survivor's ID number and data, so the ARKs can keep track of them and they can access machinery. It's literally bolted to the bones of the forearm, from what I saw on a skeleton arm from the newest Ark 2 trailer. It changes appearance as you beat the map Overseers, to show your progress Those things were the Nameless, twisted misshapen monstrosities that lurk in the dark If you venture out of the green zone without a source of charge light, they will never stop attacking you. Yet their venom is the only thing baby rock drakes (the gliding lizards) will eat. The big black thing behind them was a Reaper King The Extinction map is actually on the ruined Earth, ravaged and destroyed by wars over element as well as the corruption of element itself. The giant monster was the King Titan, the hive mind of the element corruption; the 'ent' was the forest titan. No, it is not friendly, it's a boss that must be fought and either tamed or killed. The robots are meks, created by the first survivors to reach Earth as a way to fight the titans on their level. And the giant caterpillar is actually called a gasbags XD Genesis takes place in a VR simulation on a huge colony ship, and yes, things get a little wild :) Valguero was a modded map that was brought to official, and includes the Deinonychus (the feathered jumping dino). About a year ago, at the pink tree under the waterfalls, Wildcard built a shrine to all Ark players who have died. It reads "for all those who have ascended". Crystal Isles was another modded map that was voted to come to official (so were The Center and Ragnarok, actually). Genesis 2 takes place outside the simulation, in the real world. The eyeball thing is the former Sir Edmund Rockwell, now turned into a mass of element-corrupted flesh that has fused with the Genesis ship. One part of the map is even called the "Rockwell's Innards" biome. That was his huge beating heart shown in the trailer. The platypus is called a maewing, and it is the ultimate wet nurse for baby dinos. Also, watch out for the carniflora (the bitey plant) and the shadowmane (the finny invisible lion). Yes, Fjordur is heavily inspired by Norse mythology :) There is actually an overarching story arc that spans all the official maps (Island -> Scorched Earth -> Aberration -> Extinction -> Genesis 1 -> Genesis 2). And yes, there are explanations for all the things. The maps (the ARKs) are actually self-contained artificial environments, space stations, in orbit over the ruined Earth. All the creatures and even the human survivors, have been genetically engineered, cloned, and put into these environments, which are maintained and watched by an Overseer. The point is to single out the humans with the greatest will to survive and thrive, who can eventually descend to the devastated planet and begin to reclaim it from the corruption of Element. Each map is a different ARK, a separate space station environment, so they have different environments and creatures. Wyverns and mantises and some of those other creatures were actually created by the Overseer in order to 'reset' the ARKs... wipe out the human populations who were not attempting to strive for ascension (stagnating) so a new population can be released into the map to try again. Ark is mostly online, but it does have single-player as well. I just find it more fun to play with other people, as long as they aren't dicks. There are PvP and PvE servers, so you can pick your poison
The true story will blow your mind!!!!!!! It isn't what you think!!!!!!!! I don't want to take away from the surprise but the story behind it all is epic you must look it up. You won't regret it.
We’ve already been given some of the story from other comments but still don’t fully grasp it as there is so much going on. But it’s cool how complex and interesting they’ve made it 😀
Ark's story is a bit complicated, but basically in the future there's war between 2 factions. The federation and the united republic of earth. They used an advanced substance called Element which corrupted the earth. Story wise, only The Island, Scorched Earth, Aberration, Extinction, and Genesis part 1 and 2 are official maps. The first 3 are arks in space built by the republic to help ready the survivals go back down to Earth and fix it. The Extinction map is actually what's left of earth in its corrupted state. the Genesis maps are 2 parts. The first part is the simulation, and the second part is the actual Genesis colony space ship. It kinda has multiple biomes/zones, but we only get access to 2. It was built by the Federation as means of survival like Arks were for The Republic. Obviously, there's more to the story. You learn the story through reading notes found on the maps. It's in other survivors POV.
A lot of people don't even know but ark has such a sick story and i hope you will watch the animated series when it comes out
Not sure yet about the animated series. Would like to explore more of this franchise though 🙂
Yeah, i absolutely agree. The storyline is mad!
it has a lot planned for the future a sequel animated series with a stacked cast and even movies have been talked about, Vin diesel is at the head of a lot it.

It has a single player mode as well as online PvP or PvE options, and a full story that unravels the mystery behind why the dinosaurs and you exist.
The Fjordur trailer btw was the unofficial fan made version. Great take, but you should defo watch the official one 🙂

Gasbag. Appropriate and simple name. Thanks for answering our questions and going over some of the unique creatures in this world 😀
Technically, they're all genetically altered species.
Some of my favorite takes were:
Chips: My trusty sea otter that sat on my shoulder throughout all six mains story maps.

Ark’s popularity had unfortunately died down shortly after its full release, as there were just so many other games on the market that it got kinda snuffed.
Although the developers made their bank with the game, what with the early access sales and DLC. I still avidly enjoy it, because friggin dinosaurs and dragons.

There is a huge story that spans out for eons, it’s just you have you be the best of the best to make it to the end, it takes a ton of time, survival of course, a lot of gear, resources, tames, etc. but if you actually make it to the end of each map you can ascend, and those cut scenes are always so cool.
We’ve been told to check out the endings as well 🤩
I wish I could relive that first moment of waking up on The Island and losing myself in this game all of those years ago.
☺️
Feel like David Tennant keeps popping up on things we watch 😝

@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames You're in luck then. Ark is available on xbox, playstation, and nintendo switch. The ability to get private servers on console is there as well, although you'll need a pc to set that up. You can play together in a tethered situation though in a single player style mode that basically emulates a private server, you just need to stay relatively near each other.
@@llMoofasall also mobile, IOS and android and stadia
You play a lot, my new computer has around 4,000 hours on it which is probably overkill
Thanks for letting us know 😀
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames absolutely!
Thanks for answering that question 🙂
Pretty creative story 😀
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames it is! I should note like the others, however long its been since humanity went extinct, enough time has passed for even this eldritch machinery to start breaking down. Like the other dude said the "reseed protocol" has failed, and instead worlds have lived out their lives in a sort of physical version of the Matrix. Until their population grows to the point where it triggers the monitoring system's sustainability limits, and those obelisks fire up to purge the world and reboot it. Hence you find old abandoned cities, temples and colosseums and such.
Spread some love for the Ark sound track! Good vibes.
Don't forget Ark 2 has a trailer along with all the suggestions in the comments!
Yup. Will eventually check out Ark 2 trailers 🙂
It’s by far the best game I’ve ever played, it’s just hard to tell your friends “You should play this Dinosaur game with me!” 😂
Haha, if your friends are smart they would jump at the chance to play a dinosaur game 😀
That’s the beauty of it!, you progress through the game from primitive and slowly getting more advanced, and so does the game around you! It truly is survive and evolve
Try telling your friends “You should play the definitive worlds best game with me!”
I Have over 7000 hours in this game, I found you guys by the League of Legends reactions and now I love you both even more :')
Nice that we started covering another one of your favorite games 😀 Always love hearing what franchise brought people to the channel 🙂
I HAVE A TOTALLY NEW THING TO SAY!
YOU. GUYS. FUGGIN. ROCK!! ❤️❤️
Always nice to hear 🥰😊😎🤟
21:20 that is SHADOWMANE.....🖤😍
😎👍😀
I was really happy to see you two watching the trailers of my favorite game, Ark is a huge but beautiful game, i hope you enjoyed id as much as i did. Have a nice day :D
It was fun checking it out for the first time 😀
The idea behind the game is that you wake up, naked in one of these maps where creatures from times long ago are freely roaming.
Ark is an amazing game, glad to see this
😎🤟🥳
Played ark for 20k hours straight was addicted it took over my life it consumed me
Think Skyrim and Dragon Age origins were last games that did same thing to me 😅
Wow you’ve nearly got as many hours as me!
Bit weird to think you would have played on it for A YEAR AND A HALF STRAIGHT but why leave perfection?
I'd be remiss if I didn't recommend Neddy the Noodle's fan made Ark Survival Stories and Creature Dossiers. He and some other players did a cinematic reenactment of the stories from the Survivor notes in game with voice actors and everything. Really well done.
Thanks for telling us about it 😀
Yeah he’s great, he did pushups while eating spicy garlic bread on the extra life game stream
Ark is my favorite game. Survival and dinosaurs with deep lore and scifi expansions. I waited 5 years to play
the animated show for the game has come out recently, i think it would be really cool for you guys to watch it
Its not a dinossaur game, it is a survival game with dinossaurs
😎👍🙂
I love seeing u guys react to those trailer!
WoW I love Ark, this is funny to see lol Idk why I enjoy watching you guy watch stuff you have no idea about.
🤗
lol just re watched this.
Thanks for telling us about the sale 🙂
The story for Ark is amazing and would make one Amazing movie for sure!
That’s why they are
Starring Vin Diesel!
To find out more about the story, read the explorer notes, they explain why there’s Wyverns and Dino’s.
😎👍😀
Ark Is History for me One of the best survival PvP games And Its Beautiful I Loved every Hour in that Game (Got like 3000-4000 Hours)
Some quality time spent 😀
Good tip on not going in the water. We avoid water in horror and anything monster related 😇
Neddy The Needle has the explore notes (ark lore) vids on his page and some of the best work with visual sight if the story while also each journal has a voice actor reading it and sounding like what the person might sound like because ark survivors come fr all different time period and places
Thanks for the channel rec! 😀
He’s great!
That’s pretty cool they are so supportive of the fan mods 😀
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames I think there used to be actual mod competition events hosted by the devs with rewards at the end. There definitely were photo gallery events submitted by players to show off their world.
In no small part has Ark's success come from the devs fully embracing the Mod Community.
"What's in the water?"
Ark Veterans: "A Quick Death....."

Ark has an amazing backstory and the whole things becomes so much crazier once you know the lore😂 def my favorite game and I love dinosaurs!
You should look at all the ark survival evolved endings

The little Australian Robot HLNA is a companion allows you too teleport around and acts as a shop and she tells you lore about the game it's all about some couple survivors one got mad over some crazy element and others were just trying to survive and there's more but too long to explain

ARK is a massive and complicated game. It's a hell of a lot of fun though, also incredibly frustrating at times. It basically has 2 modes, PVE (player versus environment) and PVP (player versus player). PVE is both offline and online while PVP is only online.
The fact that it has some offline pve intrigued us 🙂
also the implant specifies what bosses you have achieved to complete, and its actually built on a story through explorer notes
I have hundreds of hours and I could not click on this video fast enough! Also I choked up a bit when you referenced Buckbeak because that was the name of my first Argentavis (Big flying bird) I ever tamed in the game!
Awww 🥲 great choice for the name
LOL.
Well thankfully we won’t be short on Ark stuff to check out then 😁
just a little note only 1 map is on earth all the others are on massive space stations that hold "the seeds of life" as Helana puts it and the one of the space ship is the ship looking for a new world to colonize. Might be fun to try out for the both of you.
Thanks for clarifying that 🙂
There's actually been a TV show announced for Ark. Fingers crossed that it's good.
😎👍🙂
You can play it by yourself or with select people. I usually play with just me and a family member. The main maps you can find journals that tell you a little about the lore and you can figure out why when you die you can see your own dead body when you return.
It’s nice that you can just play on your own with a friend or family member 🙂 We approve
I missed it on release but yes! One of the people who requested this. I second tne other request to check out the creature spotlight trailers as well.
Now just waiting on certain monster Death Battles on the other channel ;) lol
Glad we finally got to this request. Have the creature trailers on our list 🙂
Correction. Edmund Rockwell found Element on Aberration. Thats where he corrupted himself.
@@rockwell5960 Thank you for the clarification Mr.Rockwell xd
Thanks for the info on the game 😀
Here is how it goes.
Base game is the first trailer
Story DLC-s are
Schorched Earth(Desert)
Aberration(Underground caves)
Extinction(Earth and Titans)
Genesis part 1(Little Robot and simulation)
Genesis part 2(Space ship, Little robot HLN-a and Rockwell(The evil guy) which is the last story DLC.
Other DLC-s with Griffins and mythological stuff are non story and they are free to buy.
They are made by people in comminity.
Fans and modders.

Reminds me of my reaction to these when they first came out. Ahhh the memories.
That game... It ruined my nervous system... Love it! Music is wonderful...
Man the original trailers bring back memories. Been playing off and on since release. Back when there was 1 map and no biomes XD
Sadly wildcard never really did alot with water. Gen 1 has a realm that's mostly water...but it's a shame they never continued the trend of maps around specific biomes. Would have loved an all water or all ice map.
But fans can make maps as well, right? So maybe a fan made ice map will come 🙂
I’m assuming you haven’t delved deep enough into the trenches of Genesis II then!
Their are 6 story maps and many oyher maps
The island
Scorched Earth
Abberation
Extinction
GENESIS 1 & 2 are the story maps

Ah ARK! Where the maps got crazier and crazier but the main draw was always to just ride a dinosaur. Love this game.
Dino riding 🥳🥳
lmao good timing, soon were gonna have ark 2 starring Vin Diesel so you should check that out too XD
other than that this gotta be one of the biggest, most advanced and densely packed survival games to ever grace the video games (hence why many would say the game is pretty janky at times or difficult to run on some computers), i started learning this game on the hardest map of its time, the smoldering hot desert map when it came out, and it took me like days of constant suffering and death to realize the only reliable source of water on that map are the water bugs, and eventually even though i was a solo player i became a pretty good powerhouse that can use electricity and travel the desert all on my own single handedly taming and destroying all the dinosaurs that once ate me like a grain of rice. but never have i "evolved" to the end game, ive never been farther than modern electricity but the game evolves from nothing, to primal, all the way to scifi as you can see....true evolution.
sidenote: yes, by nature of most survival games you tend to start off as close to if not completely naked and you immediately have to learn your basics of survival or....well you end up dead in a bush somewhere or something.
We have to check out Ark 2 stuff and we’re also told the creature spotlight trailers are quite fun 😀
They do give story and a lot of it for sure. Personaly I nearly know all of it and if I tried to tell what I know to you it would take at least 2 hours.
We’ve been told some of it and it’s for sure dense and lot to unpack 🤯
You should check out Neddy the noodle who goes through and re-enacts the explorer notes(pages and scrolls you find on the 6 official maps) that explain the story through the pov of certain survivors before you. That is how the story of ark is told with a few cut scenes in the last map. There is exsplanation for the Dino’s, the worlds, why you wake up naked on a beach and why you wake up again after dying. It’s very intresting and they are actually making an animated series on the story told in those notes
We’ve been told that’s a fun vid to check out to get the story in a visually creative way 😀
A little late so someone might have probably already covered this, but ARK is more than a dinosaur game.
So many parts of this game you would enjoy to see)
Looking forward to seeing more of it 🙂
I always believe your in-game character is a simulant and your actual body is asleep on a ship in space waiting for news that discovered planets are safe or at least survivable in a colonization manner.
i love playing ark its so relaxing pve my favorite mode to play on
Pve always more fun for us than pvp. 😊
"he's got huge forearms!"... Man, just wait!
Thier is most definitely a story line and it's both single player and multiplayer as well as PvE and PvP
Pve and single player works for us 😀
Seems like a fun and immersive world with a story we need to check out more on 🙂
What was that about being brief?
Honestly one of the best games I've ever played. ^^
Nice 🤩 Looks fun and complex 🙂
One thing that is cool, some of the maps where player made that was made official.
That’s great the devs allow that and have that relationship with their community 🙂
You can play by yourself to there is a single player mode where you can play split screen with 2 people
That’s a check mark in the win column for us 😀

@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames hi love you’re channel i just got done crying from a show ;-;
I’ve been playing this game for the better part of seven years, and if you guys want to know more about the lore there are videos going over explorer notes which cover perspectives of survivors living in the environments you saw in the official maps: island, scorched earth, aberration, extinction, genesis part 1 and 2.
Nice. What streaming service is the show coming out on? 🙂
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames if you have any questions about the storyline or anything you want to know after watching these I’m more than willing to share what I know
To try and summarize the story of ARK (Obviously Gonna be spoilers):
Basically, an apocalyptic event happened on Earth and humanity came up with two different solutions to save life as we know it.
Thanks for the quick summary of the game. Spoilers are okay as this is not one we will play most likely though are curious to explore more 🙂
Ark is an amazing game literally the only game I ever felt like I can tell a story of all the events affecting me in pvp….but hella toxic
Pvp can always be super toxic which is why we generally avoid it 🤗
“It’s a sugar glider” just wait till genesis. That’s the real sugar glider
😀
Stuff goes from 0-100 really quick between Aberation and Genisys.

Ark before Genesis: Tame dinosaurs, build a huge base, some mythical creatures
Genesis: Fight Godzilla in a giant mech
The early ark maps started of "simple" so u arent exposed to too much in the beginning, ark actually isnt set in the past but in the future, cloned and newly created, biologicly engineered creatures, but if someone just wants a dinosaur game the first maps are pretty much that, nothing to crazy.
And it has Singleplayer/Coop if u guys intressted in trying it out for urselfs.
We’d probably play just the first but with the dinosaurs 🦕 🙂
The giant sand demon was a deathworm, the hazard of walking the dunes
Poison wyverns spit balls of corrosive acid, you were right the first time lol
The beast at the end was the Manticore, the boss of Scorched Earth.
Griffins, actually. Did you notice that the other rider was riding a unicorn, not a white horse? Ragnarok is also the first map to feature a new kind of wyvern: the ice wyvern. It's my main map :)
XD The Ice Queen isn't an insect, she's an alpha deathworm
The thing on the arm is a survivor implant. Carries the survivor's ID number and data, so the ARKs can keep track of them and they can access machinery. It's literally bolted to the bones of the forearm, from what I saw on a skeleton arm from the newest Ark 2 trailer. It changes appearance as you beat the map Overseers, to show your progress
Those things were the Nameless, twisted misshapen monstrosities that lurk in the dark If you venture out of the green zone without a source of charge light, they will never stop attacking you. Yet their venom is the only thing baby rock drakes (the gliding lizards) will eat. The big black thing behind them was a Reaper King
The Extinction map is actually on the ruined Earth, ravaged and destroyed by wars over element as well as the corruption of element itself. The giant monster was the King Titan, the hive mind of the element corruption; the 'ent' was the forest titan. No, it is not friendly, it's a boss that must be fought and either tamed or killed. The robots are meks, created by the first survivors to reach Earth as a way to fight the titans on their level. And the giant caterpillar is actually called a gasbags XD
Genesis takes place in a VR simulation on a huge colony ship, and yes, things get a little wild :)
Valguero was a modded map that was brought to official, and includes the Deinonychus (the feathered jumping dino).
Yes, Fjordur is heavily inspired by Norse mythology :)
There is actually an overarching story arc that spans all the official maps (Island -> Scorched Earth -> Aberration -> Extinction -> Genesis 1 -> Genesis 2).
Thanks for answering our questions we had while watching this. One day we will pay attention to legs and spot a Wyvern over a Dragon 😂😖 One day…🤗
22:51 that guy who brougth the raptor is a real bob
Thanks for giving us the quick story info 🙂
