Awesome! I spent 2 months just outside Monopoli (1994) and shortly after returning home to the UK I saw this show! I was shouting and pointing at the TV…I’ve been there!!
I loved the Keith Floyd programs, a proper English eccentric, and he wore a Trilby or a Panama, the mark of a Gentleman (or a Cad ... either one is engaging).
It's interesting that when he was in Spain the locals seemed to have very little interest in what he was cooking and Italy he's gathering crowds.out of curiosity.
He was very entertaining to watch but his food is very very ordinary .What is so special about his food ?? Everything is just oil or butter with some ingredients added ....nothing extraordinary or involving a special technique
It was about changing the British publics attitudes towards food. How other cultures would use local ingredients of all varieties. He would often make what he called peasent food. Simple and easy dishes made with what was available compared to the same 4 dishes eaten in Britain, all the time. He was often mystefied how in Britian, being an island, they ate very little sea food and actually exported seafood to France and Spain where the produce was celebrated, he was trying to change that.
@@jdlc903 All his dishes were boring and involved frying or quick cooking with oil or butter not just Puglia but Spain and Thailand . No skill in his methods . .
What a legend. I never get tired of watching his shows. R.I.P Keith.
I always used to watch Keith Floyd when I was younger, he was the best ever chef on the TV by far.
RIP Keith.

Different approach to food back then and also a different cooking philosophy perhaps?
