This rule must be relaxed for bowlers. I don't see why batsmen are favoured so much- fielding restrictions, switch hits. At least this can be relaxed for bowlers
This is too serious of a rule to be relaxed. If I can change my arm angle to anything, I can potentially do a run up of a spin bowling, but throw a really fast bowl. Without the chucking action, such deliveries are extremely rare (Afridi's 134 kmph bowl comes to mind). Additionally, the ball will become totally unpredictable if too much variation is allowed. But I thoroughly and agree that the game now-a-days has become to batsman focused. Perhaps changing pitches or something slightly less intense would be a good solution.
@@Aravinthmech during throwing , you gain more momentum for extension of the elbow(for spring like motion)... This is partially banned in cricket during bowling. ... I said partially because you are allowed to bend ypur elbow upto 15 degree...
Some might say ICC tweaked the rules to fit in Murali. There's a part of truth to that but it wasn't just Murali who had some level of extension. Most of the bowlers had it. So to be fair to all they had to set a limit of 15. Murali was not a conventional finger spinner. He was more of a wrist off spinner. His shoulder girdle could rotate in a way that he could bowl off spinners but like how a leg spinner would bowl his overspin deliveries. This was the reason why Murali was very successful since he had the flight, dip and overspin (with extra bounce for his height) of a leg spinner and the variations of an offspinner. His spell in England would show how well he flighted the ball above the batman's eye line being an off spinner!
I disagree. According to me doosra which is now banned should have been banned earlier.bowlers like Murli, Saqlain, Harbhajan and Ajmal would have struggled. Their potency would have reduced by atleast 30 to 50%. Some of these would have struggled to keep their place in their team. I like Ashwin as he is bowling carrom balls rather than bowling those chucking deliveries which players got away with earlier. So that's why I consider Warne the greatest spinner and not Murli.
@@lordgoku5732 Tell me one bowler who bowls doosra in last 5 years. Technically it is not banned but practically it is not possible to bowl it without bending the arm. @@kumarchawla8309 "How can u allow a bowler to bend his arm till 15 degrees when most of the bowlers bowl without bending a single degree. " Did you have your ears plugged the entire video mate?
ICC should just scrap this rule and allow any kind of bowling action, including throwing / chucking, as long as they ball is delivered from above waist height. Don't forget that ICC first allowed only underarm; over-arm and even round arm (above waist height, below shoulder height) was illegal. Things changed. I think allowing throwing will make the game of cricket more equal between batter and bowler, thereby making the game more enjoyable.
It's just your opinion and not a really valid or logical point.. this system just narrows down the differences between cricket and baseball and makes bowling very much easier and shallow action.. not really very professional and hard work needed to learn forms, techniques.. It will just make cricket a joke or at least decrease its seriousness
It wont be enjoyable for the batters and fielders, and the audience because there is less action. It will be impossible to put the balls in play when the bowler is throwing it so fast + with a lot of spin.
In punjabi we say “vatta” bowling 😂😂 since “vatta” means a ‘stone’ in punjabi,so when somebody is chucking ,he is throwing bowl like one would throw a stone.
What's up with the comments saying they didn't understand it? It's a pretty straightforward rule imo. 15 degrees is the range for elbow extension. That's pretty much it.

Very well explained . I have 2 doubts. Normal allowance Is 15 degree. This is with respect to a horizontal line . Now let us say a person has a hyperextention of say - 10 degrees that is 10 degrees in opposite direction. So this person is allowed 15 degrees from the horizontal line or 15 degrees from where he started? In first case he would bend 25 degrees actually. Second question...is a test required to ascertain if a person has hyperextension or can it be detected by naked eye.
Any new or different bowling action that looks different from the orthodox bowling actions we're used to will be called into question, especially if it's successful in taking wickets. Glad we have the technology to test things now, but I do think if an umpire is planning on calling no balls against a new/different bowling action he should make the said player aware in good time so he can apply for testing and obtain a ruling on his action.
Technology is very much flawed in judging bowling actions that's why bowlers aren't tested before allowing them to play internationally unless someone is reported.
I feel that the chucking rule should get chucked out of cricket. Certain cricket boards(cough, cough, Australia), use it whenever they feel threatened by a bowler. They spoil that player's reputation and make life difficult for whoever they are targeting. Regardless if you are chucking or bowling you can only go so fast and get so much turn. It doesn't give a big enough advantage to the bowler to require a penalty. Besides which it adds some variety to the game.
Sometimes I have this doubt. In the case of some bowlers, when the ball reaches the highest position, the bowler gives a slight pause, and then throws the ball. It is not a smooth, fluid, continuous action. By this the bowler is able impart greater velocity to the ball. I am sure that my suspicion should be wrong since this is ok with the cricketing world. Any comments?
When you pause and proceed you will have to jerk (chuck)to achieve the greater speed. So, yeah pausing is a good catch to determine the chucking. If you see the bowlers who were banned for chucking, most of them did the same. Prgyan Ojha, saeed ajmal, Ambati Rayudu recently.
So, I was confused as to why this is illegal. I know it shouldn't be the momentum of the ball because the best ever cricket players can throw/bowl up to 100-101mph or so, barely slower then the all time best MLB pitchers. I looked into it, and apparently people say it is to limit how much spin can be applied to make it more "fair" for the batter. My question is, does the extra spin really matter all that much? Say I bowled a ball at 90mph, and then chucked one at 90mph with more spin, how much harder is it to hit? And does the difference warrant it being illegal?
It would be harder to hit if you are accurate, but it would be a lot harder to bowl as well. The quicker your action especially with a longer run-up, the harder it is to control a spinning ball. I can't see any overwhelming advantage as a bowler to be honest.
A few know about chucking , I play almost 40 tournament , no chucking when didn't get wickets and loose run .. last time we are playing a semifinal , prize money 2.5 lakh for winner and 1 lakh runner up , No one wants to lose , after 2.5 over 10 runs 3 wickets , opposition team raised the question about illegal action ,.with no objection
Hyperextension is not counted as throwing if your arm is bending in the "negative" direction i.e. bending the elbow back in a way that people without hyperextension cannot. You can see some bowlers who have hyperextension whose elbows bend back and then straighten, but since they have no control over their elbows bending backwards the ICC does not deem this as throwing.
